Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Review by Doodleheimer

"If you like pulling off 113-hit combos, this game's for you"

Game Play-6/10

This game is better and worse than the original in some ways. There are only a few stages in this game, unlike Marvel Vs. Capcom, which had stages for the characters. There's only one ending in this game, compared to an ending for each character in MvC. This game doesn't seem as fancy as MvC. That's the worse. the better is that there is a gigantic load of characters in MvC2. the amount of super moves for each character is varied. Iceman has one super, compared to 2 for Hayato. The game dissapointed me in ways. I wanted characters from other Capcom games. (Cody and Sodom from Final Fight, Leon from Resident Evil, Zero from Mega Man X, Regina from Dino Crisis, Ryu from Breath of Fire, and that guy from Ghosts & Goblins) My favorite part is combining supers. Once, I had Mega Man, Cable, and B.B. Hood pull off all their supers at once against Juggernaut. The super was 113 hits. It helped me quadruple the top score in the machine. The difficuty is surprisingly easier than the Dreamcast version, even on easy. The fighting was nice. You select three characters, and in battle, you can substitute them in for characters whose health meter has taken a beating. But, unlike Tekken Tag Tournament, you have get rid of all of your opponents characters before moving on to the next stage. But, this makes two-player really fun.

Graphics-7/10

I'm not saying I didn't love the graphics, I'm just saying that the characters didn't blend in. The new characters didn't blend into the background well. And some of the characters from the first MvC looked awful. Mega Man, Roll, and Morrigan's sprites were taken directly from the first game, compared to the much better looking new characters. The backgrounds looked really nice. One of the stages (The bridge one) looked perfect. One problem though. The screen was noticeably darker than the Dreamcast version.

Music-6/10

The music is really annoying. It's that same jazz stuff that was in Breath of Fire III, only worse. I kind of enjoyed it at first, but then it just got on my nerves.

Overall-7/10(Not An Average)

The Dreamcast version is much better, but if you do want to play this version, don't put in more than $2.00. You'll probably have much more fun with the Dreamcast version. That version will also eat up a lot of your valuable, precious time.
