Donkey Kong

"Miyamoto's first masterpeice."

Donkey Kong is the game that Miyamoto created, all the way back in 1980 or somewhere around there. This game introduced Jump Man to the market, who is later renamed Mario. Everyones favorite plumber. Even George Jefferson (from The Jeffersons) was playing Donkey Kong at the Arcade in one of those episodes.

What is it? In this game Donkey Kong has kidnapped Pauline, and it is your job as Mario, er....Jump Man, to save her. You have to climb ladders and jump over barrels and fire that Donkey Kong summons. Eventually Donkey Kong becomes a good guy.

Who made it? Nintendo made it, but Shigeru Miyamoto designed it. He is also known for Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, etc.

Graphics - 10
You must admit this game wont look that good by todays standards, but in 1980 this game spawned a revolution at the arcades.

Sound - 5
I dont remember being very fond of the game. I do remember though how monotonous the jumping noise was, considering you had to jump like every 5 seconds because of the barrels.

Gameplay - 9
Marvelous. Theres a 2-player mode, but you have to alternate so it isnt that much fun. Its also fun to try to get the high score, so you'll feel rewarding when you finish the game.

Fun Factor - 8
This game is pretty fun, but it can get frustrating after a while when you get to a ridiculously hard level. But practice makes perfect ^_^. Its also alot of fun to try to get the high score.

Group Fun Factor - 8
Its pretty fun to make fun your your friends at the arcade when they just randomly run into a barrel. Believe me, I know from experiance. And its fun to try to beat each others high scores.

Other Platforms - This game is also released on Nintendo, Atari, and Gameboy. This game is pretty fun on the gameboy because its portable and theres no better game to play on the crapper ^_^.

Best Feature - Old School Gameplay
Worst Feature - Its Kinda Hard

Misc. Stuff - Nintendo later gave the rights of Donkey Kong to Rare, who later made Donkey Kong Country, then DK64, and some other titles.

Overall - 10
For a game made in 1980, its pretty damn fun. It'll probably get monotonous after a while, but its fun to play ever once in a while.
