"Don't most cops just file paperwork all day?"

Virtua Cop is a track shooter from Sega. I'm really bad at doing intros.

Game Play-
6/10

Virtua Cop? Cops also chase after speeders, administer sobriety tests, negotiate with terriorists, investigate local crimes, and many other things. They don't just shoot people all day.

This is probably the second worst light gun game ever, next to Revolution X. The game is similar to Area 51 or Lethal Enforcers. Main problem is the enemies take, like three shots to die. The fact that the Light Gun is hard to use doesn't make the game any easier. It's not the worst, but it's certainly down there.

Control-
5/10

The light gun is really hard to aim. It would've been easier to use if Sega hadn't made the machine so freakin' big. You literally have to shoot a couple of times to hit the enemy, which is hard because in the later levels, enemies will shoot you immediately. The cabinet was huge, unnecessarily HUGE. Unlike Sega's other Light Gun series, House of the Dead, which had a much smaller cabinet. Not that small, but easy enough to use well. and no matter how much you play, you won't get much better. The high scores say so.

Audio-
4/10

Freeze, punk. Surrender now, or face the consequences. Oh wait, that's a coffee machine.

I could barely hear the Sound Effects. I couldn't hear the music at all. But what I could hear was pretty good. The bullets fired sound was good.

Graphics-
5/10

The graphics are quite blocky, but this game was made in 1994. But then again, Area 51 looked a lot better, and so did Lethal Enforcers. Most enemies look the same, and Sega should've put more variety into the criminals. The framerate was pretty smooth, though. The polygons looked pretty jagged too.

Enjoyability-
6/10

If you can get over the bad control, the game ain't that bad. I couldn't get over the 50 cent price, because the game isn't really worth 50 cents for long-term play.

Score Rundown-
Game Play-6/10 - Really hard
Control-5/10 - Light gun is hard to aim
Audio-4/10 - Sound effects good, but small speaker prevents the audio from being heard in a typical arcade
Graphics-5/10 - Blocky, jaggedy, and looking the same
Enjoyability-6/10 - 50 cents, who has that kind of money for a bad light gun game?

Score-26/50

Overall-
5/10

If you're a big fan of light gun games, then give the machine a whirl. If not, don't bother.
