"A Classic Game that still is cool to play!"

Asteroids is a very old game, but just because it'd old, doesn't make it bad. It is actually one of the better games of it's generation. I remember when my dad and mom used to take me to arcades, I would usually always play Asteroids because I had tons of fun with it. About 14 years later, I still have to say this game is fun to me and here is why.

GRAPHICS:4

Well, they are black and white, the objects are small, and hard to see so they are not very good. Who cares!? This game is most likely older than I am so they had to be pretty good for back in the day. Even though people now will look at them, and spend most of their gaming experience ripping on them, they really don't deserve it because of it's age. Let us try and look past them. I know they are not good now, but that is not really the point.

SOUND:6

Well, not much music at all really. About the only sound you hear is the ship firing and the asteroids, and well that is just about it. There are other faint sounds that I heard throughout some of this game, but really nothing to brag about I don't think. Like the graphics, the sound is outdated, and yes this too needs to be overlooked.

GAMEPLAY:9

Here is were the game starts to get cool. Like Space Invaders or something, this game has you as the ship destroying asteroids before they can destroy your ship. Basic joystick movements can move the ship, and pressing one of your buttons repeatedly can have rapid fire, and have you destroying those asteroids in a hurry. The game really is fun, and keeps you on your toes while you try to disintegrate every little rock in outer space. The game gets harder as you progress so it's best to stay alert.

STORY:6

Well, there really is no story except to destroy the asteroids before the destroy you. If enough of them hit you to destroy your ship, and give you a game over, you failed. If you manage to get through every level than you have succeeded. Basically no story.

CHALLENGE:8

This game can be real hard. Those asteroids can sure come at you in a hurry late in the game, and could be really hard to take all of them down. While when you start off you might think this game is kiddy, and is way to easy, give this game a chance to be hard, and you could possibly be frustrated beyond imagination at some points.

REPLAY:10

Like I said before in the review, this was one of my first arcade games ever, and is still one I like to play when I actually see this game at an arcade. It might be a hard find for me, but if I see it, you can bet anything that I am going to play it while I am there.

PLAY/MISS?PLAY

I don't care if you are a guy that hasn't played a game older than a year in your life. You need to play this game. It is nostalgic, fun, and is worth a few minutes of your time to play it. While it might not be one of the best games in the arcade, it is certainly one of the most fun for sure.

OVERALL:7

This game is great! I would have gave this game an easy 9 if it wasn't for graphics and sound, but people might think I'm crazy. I really like this game, and brings me fun every time I give it a play. I suggest you find a coin somewhere, pop it in the machine, and have fun blasting those asteroids!
