Vampire Savior
Review by Pen2
"Vampire Savour, in english. So how does it fare?"
Darkstalkers has always been one of my favourite series of games. The characters have always been fun to use each with its own style, more or less. This game brings back all of your old favorites, like Morrigan, Demitri, Sasquatch and John Talbain. along with a few new ones like Lilith and Q.Bee. But is it still any good? Read on...
Graphics:
The graphics are one of the real draw cards for the game, and as far as I can tell all of the characters are still hand drawn. And even if they aren't they still look fantastic! I have found no faults with the games graphics. except maybe Morrigan when you choose her with Triangle...
The special moves look awesome, I love Morrigans Astral Vision (if you haven't figured it out by now she's my favorite character.), Demitris Demon Horde, and Liliths strange combo where she flys up into the air naked surrounded by bats, very strange...
The regular moves look awesome as well. They are very fluid. Why can't I draw like Capcom? They make everything look so good! *Giant sweat drop*
The backgrounds are all looking great, as usual, except for Fetus of God. Thats just a little to starnge for my tastes!
Music/Sound:
What can I say, it's a bit of let down but it's still some fo the better fighting game music I've heard for a while, I really like Lord Raptors music and Hsein Ko's music the most.
As with most fighting games the sound is where it really shines, the effects are crisp and clear, with CD quality voice acting making up all the cries, groans, grunts, squeals and attack names! I would expect nothing less from Capcom.
(9.3/10)
Story:
As usual the main story is very simple (although this one has a few shades of Evangelion in it), although everyone has their own smallish, but adequate background story.
But the main story goes something like this: Big bad guy Jedah, wants to collect all souls and mould them together into one (here are the evangelion shades), which will grant him as the ultimate being. Not bad, thankfully it isn't a big monster has attacked, kill it to save the world!
Gameplay:
Fun, fun and more fun! I loved this game from start to finish. I pity all those people who think that 2D isn't any good just because we have the PSX, PS2, PC's and the 64. Oh and lets not forget the Dreamcast (which was just like the Saturn one of the most underrated consoles ever). At least Sega supported 2D games to the fullest extent.
The moves are easy to pull off, and the controls are responsive. This game is superb and if you haven't got it in a local arcade get it on PSX. Simple. This game is a must have.
(10/10)
Overall:
Like I said, buy this. But be warned if you have never even played this before, then you will be luaghed at a nd prodded until you develop a complex!
(9.9/10)
Good points:
-All the characters.
-Voice acting.
-Basically everything
Bad points
-Average music
-Not many Capcom references (where are they all Capcom?)
-I can't find anything else wrong with it.^-^
