Garou: Mark of the Wolves
Review by Ice84
"A completely different Fatal Fury"
It's has been a while without a Fatal Fury or any other game about the Bogards, excluding the King Of Fighters Series. However, the new of Fatal Fury (or Garou) has come. Not only is a good sequel, but surely it is a really good game. Actually, I haven't played the previous Fatal Fury games, I have only seen other play it. But I'm sure the sequel of Fatal Fury, Garou: Mark of the Wolves will delight all fighting-game lovers. So let's begin.
The story takes place some years after Terry defeated Geese, and know The Lonely Wolf is training Geese's son, Rock, who is the main character in the story. Of course this is the main story, and we know that in every fighting game, every character has his or her own reasons to enter the tournament. The mystery is who has organized a new tournament and his purposes on it. So, as we see, the story is even similar to one of a KoF game.
The characters available... a reasonable quantity I can say. There are about 12 characters to choose, including Rock and Terry. It's important to say that the common characters like Andy, Joe, Mai, Mary, Kim, are not any longer, only people who are related to them. For example, we can find the sons ok Kim and Jhun as characters in the game. What is strange is that there is a character who practices the same martial arts as Ryo, Robert, Yury and Takuma, the Kyokugen Karate (!!!). Also, Terry has changed his look. Now he wears a jacket and has cut down his hear and doesn't wear any more his cap. Anyway, you won't be disappointed with the characters.
The gameplay is similar to previous games, although Garou has incorporated new modes of playing. The moves are very easy to learn, specially the ones for the DM's and SDM's because they are almost the same for each character. And well, it may take a while to beat the game if you don't understand well the new mode (TOP system) incorporated to the game.
The graphics are really good. In my opinion, they are even better than the KoF games. In fact, the graphics during the game and in the screen that shows the image of the winner are similar to a comic quality. You have to see how the DM's and SDM's look in the game. For example, the Power Geyser of Terry looks incredible. The sound is fine but probably in this kind of games you don't pay attention to it because of all the screams of joy or fury you will make when playing the game.
I really recommend you to play the game if you have the opportunity. It's fun to beat the game with every character because you will learn many surprises throughout the game. But if you play the game with another person, the fun will increase. It's worth the price of the token to play it.
Have fun!
