Hydro Thunder
Review by Doodleheimer
"This isn't as 'exciting' as Arctic Thunder, if you know what I mean"
Game Play-
7/10
It's just an average boat racer. Addicting, but average. The game is a basic boat racer, with shortcuts and the like. There are turbo boosts in the game, which raise your turbo meter. You can use the turbos in the meter to get temporary speed boosts.
The shortcuts in the game's tracks are really obvious. And they also don't make the race any easier.
The game suffers from a huge deal of difficulty. Even the easy courses are freakin' hard. You start out in 15th place out of 16, and you have to be first in order to win and race again for free. It's hard as hell, and ten times colder (The water'll give you hypothermia)
Control-
5/10
But unlike other racers, this doesn't use a gas and brake pedal. Instead, you have a lever which goes from brake to slow to fast. And then there's a button which when
The steering wheel in this game is awful. It is too responsive and loose, and in turn leads to bad turning and consistent bumping into walls.
pressed, activates your boosters. I'm not a fan of the boosters; they make it even more difficult to turn.
The game has a vibrating steering wheel, but that's basically all there is in the force feedback department. It's closed now.
Graphics-
10/10
Sweet graphics can be found in this game. Detailed graphics, unique and original stages, and even boat reflections on the water can be found.
The stages look very unique; There's Arctic Circle, Greek
Isles, Thunder park, and other various courses in the game.
The game runs at a fast FPS rate, with little pop-up, little slowdown, and no jagged edges. It's almost picture-perfect, they are.
Audio-
5/10
There is little music to be found in this game. I could hear a little in Thunder Park, but that's about it. It sounded a little symphonic and classical and fast-paced, which didn't fit the game at all.
The sound effects are a different story. The sound effects were incredibly good and accurate. The ripping of the boats, the splashing of the water. It's all good here.
Enjoyability-
7/10
It's a fun ride, if you like racers. If not, give it a try. What's the worst that could happen?
Score Rundown-

Doodleheimer's Recommendationitivity-
Give it a try. You won't have a hard time finding one of these machines. They're everywhere. Even in pizza parlors. No trouble finding one, and no harm playing one.
