Undercover Cops
Review by Ominae
"To serve and to protect"
Undercover Cops was created and released by Irem games for the Arcade (today the now defunct Irem games)in 1992 from an increasing popularity of fighting games around 1990's to the US, Japan and around the Asian continent, but this arcade was not released in Europe. This arcade game has 3 players in which you can take a role of undercover police officers in a crime-ridden future to eradicate a terrorist group network sowing terror and fear to the people. This arcade game is very, very similar to fighting games in the arcades like Final Fight, Sangokushi II, Double Dragon and the Punisher.
STORY:
In the future, the USA has been filled with criminality and the police was overpowered by what happened. To make matters worse, a mad scientist named Dr. Clayborn has taken over the city with the help of his cronies. Police Commisioner Gordon (Don't be confused by the name, this isn't Batman you know) has called on 3 of the NYPD's finest to take on Dr. Clayborn. The responsibility was laid on Claude, Flame and Bubba, undercover police officers who were selected by Commisioner Gordon himself with orders to eliminate the evil mad scientist and restore order before it's too late.
CONTROLS:
Simple enough to use. Consists of a control stick for you to move away and as always, buttons to attack and to jump. And also as always, you can combine the buttons to provide the special moves for each of the three fighters. Like the fighting games of long ago, they'll drain your enery meter if used too much. Save it for the bosses or when you're cornered by the nasty enemies that you'll encounter during the game.
AUDIO/VIDEO:
Just the same thing. You'll just see this in any arcade fighting game. The video is really not that impressive and the audio is just the same thing for another game that I played called Sangokushi II. The sounds are not good, but I think that I actually like the way they did with the graphics.
REPLAYABILITY:
No, don't even try to play the entire game all over again. Besides, it's just the same thing all over and over and over again. However, you may want to try playing any of the three playable characters to see who is the best player to use in the entire game. Just try it anyway and you can see what I mean.
