Dance Dance Revolution 3rd Mix

Review by aicalo7

"The best arcade game?"

This is possibly the best arcade game ever. ‘Nuff said. But… here I go.

Pros:
Music- There’s a wide variety of music, but most of it is techno/ dance, hence the name Dance Dance Revolutions. If you don’t like the music someone else is doing, it’s easy to find one you like by listening on the song selection screen. From fast songs to slower songs, all of them are interesting to dance to and listen.

Creativity- Not only is the game creative in itself (you have to step on the corresponding arrow on the screen on the dance platform, giving you a dance-like look and feel) DDR gives you a chance to express yourself (express, show off, embarrass, whatever. It’s fun nonetheless.) whether you’re going for the Mr. Roboto moves or some slick breakdancing. What’s nice is the fact that you only need a little bit of rhythm and some pocket change to play DDR.

Replay value- This game is the definition of fun. By yourself, you can practice your move or go for the double pad challenge where you have to dance across two four-directional platforms. Or… you can grab a friend or a complete stranger (it’s quite funny and a good way to get to know people, believe it or not) and go for some simultaneous dancing. It actually looks pretty cool even though you may not consider yourself a dancer, so check it out. There are also many, many songs, making this fun. Also try setting a video camera up sometime (with permission, of course) and watching the tape. It’s great. I’ve also heard that DDR is a good way to lose weight…

Range- DDR can be set to an easy mode, for those of us with two left feet, or if the songs start to get boring you can try a higher difficulty. This makes each song have three different steps, and once you master them you can start to make a nice routine to show off and attract crowds. The machine in my mall is right across from the movie theater… heh heh.

Cons:
Background- Sometimes (only occasionally) the background gets distracting and makes it harder to follow the arrows, but it’s really not that bad, considering the fact that the arrows are all you need to see. You shouldn’t be concentrating on the background anyway, but just be careful.

Storyline- Okay, this really isn’t a con, but there’s no story line. Which, for DDR, is a great thing because all you wanna do is dance ‘till you go crazy.
