Marvel vs. Capcom
Review by Utopusfalcon
"This just might be the best starting crossover game of all time. TOO LATE"
*In my ''introductory'' sentence I say starting crossover game because it ''started'' and paved the way for Marvel vs Capcom 2. Now, on with the review.
I've been waiting and waiting to see the Blue bomber go head to head against Hulk. Well, no, I haven't really. But that thought still goes through the mind of many. Well, those minds prayers have been answer (to tell the truth, they were answered a long time ago) in the form of a revolutionary form of fighting style games called ''Crossover installments''. I'll stop talking about this, before you get the idea that I know a lot on this. Anyway, Capcom has made four Crossover installments so far (I think), and Marvel versus Capcom has been the best. By far.
Many people might ask, ''hey, what makes this game special? Isn't it like any other fighting game?'' Well my friend, the answer is a simple one:
NO.
Graphics: 9 out of 10
Put simply, the background scenes are of playstation quality. BUT DON'T TAKE THAT AS A BAD THING! For an arcade game, I would call that somewhat impressive. That doesn't mean stellar, but I'm not trashing it either. Also, the characters are well drawn (let's just say, Strider and Morrigan, mostly Morrigan :P ...) and the hypercombo background scenery is pretty good. Good work Capcom.
Audio: 8 out of 10
Have you ever heard Megaman screaming like a six year old girl when he loses? I mean, the fact that he looks like a six year old girl as nothing to do with this, but when he screams, it's so.... realistic (if that's a good word for it). Also, everyone has there own voice, of course, there is no voice acting. The sound effects could have been better, and the music is good. That really doesn't matter because when you are going against someone good, you tend to forget about the music.
Fluid Level: 6 out of 10
Well, not everything is fluid. For example, most of Ryu's punches and kicks just don't look fluid. They just don't look real. I know that not everything is supposed to look real, but the things that are supposed to look real, just don't. Also, some things just look.... freaky. Jin fire, I think I've said enough on that.
Gameplay: 9 out of 10
Well, it's simply just ''go stage after stage beating odd couples until you get to one mean boss''. But, Capcom added so many good stuff. For instance, they added a ''magic series''. Not too mention all the advance controls like the advancing guard and roll have been kept. Great work on making the traditional fighting game more exciting.
Overall: 8 out of 10
Okay, that wraps it up. I made it as clear as mud (what a stupid phrase). This game is good. It takes a while to master, but each and every time you play, you'll enjoy. I think.
Also, it's not all that hard to master, and controls are just right. Personally, I like the Dreamcast Version more, but the arcade is great as well.
Rent or Buy?
Come on, stop being stupid. How could you BUY this game, unless you get it from a vending company, get a brain. And for those who will be looking in the yellow pages for a vending company, GET A LIFE!
Well, that's it. Get your quarters and play till kingdom come.
