Tapper
Review by Hiryuu
"What do you get when you cross beer and arcade games? I'll give you one guess..."
Everybody loves beer, well, maybe not EVERYBODY but everybody certainly loves Budweiser, well at least their commercials. So what happens when Budweiser puts its name on a game? Do you get Louis the Lizard killing the Budweiser frogs? Well, not exactly, but you do get a lot of guys drinking beer.
The object of Tapper is simple: you're the bartender, you have angry customers, and they want their beer! There are (usually) four different bars, each with angry customers advancing toward you. You must run to the tappers at the end of each bar, fill up a mug, and slide it toward the customers. A customer will catch it and drink it. If a customer advances all the way to the end of the bar, you lose a life. Also, if you break a mug, you lose a life. You will break a mug by sliding down a bar with nobody there, or sometimes the customers will slide a mug back down the bar, and you have to catch it! Sometimes after getting a drink, a customer will leave you a tip. Run down and grab the tip and you'll get points and you'll see dancers. Some of the customers will watch the dancers dance, which gives you somewhat of a break. After every level, the bartender will down a beer (or two) himself, and then do a trick with the mug. Every two levels (or so) there is a bonus game where Zorro shakes the cans and leaves you to guess which one he didn't shake...it's pretty easy though. After every bonus level, you move to an all new locale with different customers.
The graphics of this game are top notch. Although the characters are small, they are drawn well, and they look really good. However, all the Budweiser signs and such are sure to make you...well, get sick of the signs, but it's not that bad. The music sounds pretty nostalgic, kind of like atari games almost, but a little better.
If you can find this game, you should probably play it. Although it doesn't have ultra advanced graphics or gameplay, it's still pretty fun, plus, how many other games do you know of that Budweiser put their names on? It's also fun to watch a guy who can down dozens of beers and not even get tipsy.
