"Doh! I Wish This Game Was For Console!"
First of all, I wrote a review for the X-Men and I gave it a 10/10 and I gave this one a 10/10 too. I just wanted to say that I gave these games a perfect score because they deserved a perfect score! Ok, now onto the review!
Graphics: What was Matt Groening thinking when he drew up the Simpsons? Apparently, something which was pure genius. The on screen graphics are true to their television counterparts. Everything from their height and weight to their facial expressions are correct. The bad guys are drawn up quite well, although none of them appear on the show. The backgrounds are familiar to those who are fans of the television show. Ranging from Downtown Springfield to Moe's Tavern, the backgrounds are drawn up nicely.
Sound: I would give this area a 9 because the sounds are clear. Also, the voicing for the characters are good, but not excellent. Homer says ''Doh!'' in his fashion, while Bart uses terms such as ''Cowabunga'' and ''Eat My Shorts'' with remorseful glee.
Controls: As with all arcade beat-em-up's each character has simple controls. With a jump and an attack button, even Homer could operate this game. Also, when two player press both buttons together, they form a double team attack (e.g. Homer and Marge become a human donut and roll around).
Gameplay: This is the game's strong point. The game basically begins when Mr. Smither's robs a jewelery store and he bumps into Homer. Well, it seems that Maggie catches the diamond in her mouth, thus creating an obvious kidnapping. Anyway, the character which you choose decides to go after the save Maggie. Therefore, a side scrolling journey begins. The style is very simple, since you basically side scroll beating up bad guys which fit in with the level. At the end of each level a boss appears and you must defeat him. Each character has their own attack. Bart uses his skateboard, Lisa fights with her jumprope, Marge uses her vaccume cleaner, while Homer fights with his fists. Just remember, The game IS more fun with 4 players.
Replay: This game is good for 1 or 2 times, but gets boring after that. If you are getting extremely bored, maybe try playing the game with different characters.
Last Words: Perhaps, you could go to a Nickle Nickle near you and play this game on FREE PLAY...I do hope that this review was helpful... <(11<)
