Crisis Zone

Review by DDT

"Not bad. Not bad at all."

OK, for those that don't know, this is the third game in the Time Crisis series. What is so different about this? Glad you asked.

The most important thing that has changed is the gun. Instead of pistols like the last two times, you now use an assault rifle and you get 30 shots in one clip. I know what you're saying, now that I have a machine gun, it's gonna be so easy. You could not possibly be more wrong. The enemies here have body armor and such now have energy meters. Shoot a guy once, he will still be alive and able to shoot you. You have to shoot them until they die.

Another little change is the action pedal. In the past two games, you fight in one space, then run to another space where there's cover and so on. In this game, you are equipped with a shield. Now you have cover all the time and can now move continuosly through the area. You can no longer blame cut scenes for running out time (as much).

The details in this game are real nice. Stuff flies around realistically as you shoot it. And there is a lot of it. Other than that, this game is not graphically different than Time Crisis 2.

This game also gets rid of the 2-player co-op mode and now it's a one player game. I really don't know why, it's entirely possible for 2 players to play this game.

So the lack of graphical improvement but change in gameplay (hell, its cool to use a machine gun) cancel each other out. I did take away 2 points for unnecessarily taking out the 2-player mode and making it so damn expensive ($1.00). Still a good game, check it out.
