Tiger Road

"A solid and entertaining platformer"
I first played this game on emulation a few months ago. I hadnt heard of it before then. When I started playing it I immediately enjoyed the old platform style of the game. Heres my review:
Graphics 7/10: Its a fairly old game. Most of the enemy sprites are small but well detailed and some are quite large and look nice as well. The graphics look like something that could have been on the sega genesis.(they reminded me of Ghouls N Ghosts) The backgrounds are extremely nice however with really detailed asian artwork. Was impressed with the backgrounds.
Sound 7/10: The sound is average Id say for this type of game. Nothing incredible. Nice striking sounds and fairly catchy tunes. Not bad.
Gameplay and control 8/10: The game plays really well and keeps you interested in whats next. The bosses are fun to play against and some of them can be a little tricky to figure out. Youll have plenty of chances to learn them though, since when you die at a boss you get to start back at it. The stages are fun also and require some trial and error to get through. With each little segment (stage) that you complete you get to start at the next segment, and the little segments are short ,but sometimes dense with enemies and jumps. At the end of each series of little stages is a boss, then after the boss is a bonus ''training'' stage where you can earn better weapons if you succeed. There is a decent variety of weapons also, most of them short range. If you do well on the bonus ''training'' stages you can earn a weapon with farther range and also it is extremely powerful.
The striking and moving in the game controls really well, but the jumping can be a little awkward. This is not much of a problem though because there arent really any difficult jumping sequences in the game anyway and not much jumping overall.Overall the controls are good.
Challenge 5/10: This game's biggest challenge is in it's bosses. Overall the levels arent too difficult. Some of the bosses can take some time to figure out. Not a difficult game.
Overall 7/10: Overall this is a fun platformer with some challenges. Not very difficult, but alot of fun to play through. Definately a worthwhile game to try if you like platformers.
