NBA Jam

Review by streetpunx4life

"From down town!"

Ah.. NBA Jam, the only sports game worth playing back then, and still the only sports game worth playing. Well at least I think it still is. Sitting in my best friends basement during the winter, playing hours on end of Mortal Combat Trilogy, Super Mario, and of course NBA Jam. This is not considered as one of the ''greats'' and making a mark on video game history like Mario did. But this is still a great game for all ages!

Game play 10/10 - When I was younger my best friend and I spent a lot of time with barley any brakes. I do have to say that I know less about basketball and sports in generally, then any one I know. But still I can play this for a good amount of time. About 50 teams, you play a two man against two man game. And the best part of this game is the insane and over reacting host of the game. Also when he says ''From down town!'', is a childhood memory. From side to side you score as much points as you can in the two quarters. Very good replay time, and a awesome two player mode. It is also good for those boring nights with nothing to do and you can't fall a sleep, its a lot better then reading.

Graphics 8/10 - Great, but not the best of its time. Still there good enough to tell one team from the other. There good enough for me. All so with the Super Nintendo don't expect any thing better. Each team mate has there own skin and jersey. Also all the secret characters have there own special heads.

Controls 9/10 - Awesome! Even that all you have to do is go left, right, shot and pass, there great for the setup of the controller.

Story no-real-story/10 - As you expect since it is a sports game there's not going to be a ''real'' story. But if advancing in games, against the computer as a story, then it has one hell of a story!

If you still own a Super NES (mine was lost in a tragic moving accident), then I would suggest to go out to your nearest ''Funcoland'' and buy it for a dollar or two it's well worth it. Even if your 30 and have a wife and kids, its worth those two bucks and hours of endless game play time.
