Dance Dance Revolution 4th Mix Plus
Review by CLaN Ruler
"With so many mixes to choose from, this definitely deserves a place in the top."
Another added sequel to the popular DDR series and quite arguably one of the best.
Gameplay: 10
You may already know how the game play works by now but for those who don't, this game requires a good sense of eye-to-feet (sometimes maybe even hand or knee or other body part if you want to add a little more flair) coordination. A variety of songs ranging from different styles as well as difficulty will be available to select from the main mode of game play. After choosing a song, arrows will rise up on the screen to a preset display of four arrows consisting of left, down, up and right. As the arrows for the song move up, you must match them to the preset display at the top. The game play can be easy or very hard depending on the songs you choose and allows for various gamers ranging in skill levels to participate.
Graphics: 7
Nothing that spectacular used in this game. Flashy backgrounds and a wide array of colors are used. Don't expect to be blown away by ''eye candy'' as this game is primarily made for its unique style of game play.
Sound: 10
This possibly is the best part of this game. DDR 4th Mix Plus offers an ''All Music Mode'' which allows you to choose from an arsenal of over 100 songs from the previous DDR mixes, excluding a few. New songs such as ''Rhythm and Police'' or ''Petit Love'' can be mixed up with old songs such as the classic ''Brilliant2u'' or the ever popular ''Butterfly.'' This game also provides an announcer that can either be brutal or generous depending on your accuracy of matching the arrows, though he can get on your nerves sometimes, the huge track list makes up for it.
Control: 10
The controls in this game is made primarily for your feet, which is a unique way of playing that is not commonly offered by many games. The controls required to play this game are literally laid out on a mat. This game features a metal pad consisting of up, down, left and right arrows where you can use your feet, or other body part like I mentioned in the game play section and match the corresponding arrows on the screen. If someone ever mentions how games are just for lazy people and have no physical value at all, they haven't tried this game out. Some of the songs with catastrophic difficulties will leave people amassed in sweat and some lighter songs might even cause you to break a sweat.
Replay Value: 10
This game just offers so much. Let alone over 100 songs to choose from, there is a nonstop mode for those of you who want to test your endurance and trying to pass all the catastrophics can surely be a feat for you to try. For those who think they are experts at this game, try aiming for that perfect score of SSS. For those who have DDR 4th Mix for their Playstation, you can even edit songs and bring them to the machine to play them, though most DDR machines might not carry that memory card capability. Adding style to this game is a big part and you can make a basic song look like a masterpiece with great freestyling techniques.
Overall: 10
With so many songs and difficulty levels, this game will require several, several hours to get bored of. Freestyling and impressing crowds is always fun and this game also proves to be a great cardio workout. Playing games and losing weight, this game has them both. So if you want to have fun and lose weight then check this game out. This game also provides a unique experience of game play where game play is primarily based on handheld controllers. I highly recommend everyone to check this game out and not be fooled/intimidated by its appearance or the performance of others.
