Killer Instinct
Review by fultz835
"A factful review on killer instinct."
Introduction
Many people do not like this game, and I suppose that is okay. Some people like challenging games like Killer Instinct, others like easy button mashers. I suppose it makes them feel good to win. I am not pointing any fingers but as you may have noticed, 90% of the reviews over this game are all bashes, if you want a fact full review on this game then read on.
Graphics 10/10
Killer Instinct boasts some of the best graphics seen for it's time. This game was made 10 years ago and still has decent graphics compared to today's games. Let me give you an example, Killer Instinct Gold's Graphics for the N64 suck compared to Killer Instinct 2's (1996) Graphics (the arcade version of killer instinct gold). That obviously says something about the Killer Instinct series. The game clocks in at a perfect 55-60fps, depending on what version you are playing. 10/10.
Sound 10/10
You will absolutely love unleashing 50 hit combos to tracks like ''Trailblazer'' and the intro music is nostalgic. It is excellent and seems to sum up the entire game itself in just the short intro. The usual kicks and groans are there. The sounds of cinder's trailblazer and sabrewulf's howl are excellent. You will absolutely love the yell of the announcer has he screams ULTRAAAAAAA COMBOOOOO! 10/10.
Gameplay 10/10
Sure it takes a long time to learn the combo system, sure you will pull your hair out trying to do so, but in the end it is well worth it, this game will have you itching to try and learn all the highest combos, there are absolutely no limits to the highest combos because this game has glitches that make it so that you can do huge combos, forget 18+ hit combos. 50, 60, 70, and even 80 hits and beyond are the largest, there are even infinite combos that you can repeat forever until you mess up. The counter stops at 80 though. This game was the game that paved the way for the combo systems we have today. To this day I think it is the most well done combo system in a fighting game. There are plenty of strategies and movement and overall control are excellent. The arenas are just the right amount of 2D and 3D to make the atmosphere superb. 10/10
Replay Value 6/10 1 Player, 10/10 2 Player
If you are playing on one player, you will probably beat the game once, then hardly ever play it again unless you are trying to learn new combos and don't have a partner to play it with. If you are playing on two players, however, you could play forever. This game NEVER gets boring if you have other people to play it with, you will find yourself competing with each other to see who can get the highest combos. 6/10 on 1 Player, 10/10 if you have a friend to play it with.
Overall 10/10 Hands down
I have never really liked many fighters, sure they are okay if you get them for free but killer instinct is really the only fighter I would still purchase today, and if you ask me that is pretty sad compared to games made 10 years later. The combos are fresh, there's always something new to be learned, combos are still being discovered here, today, 10 years after the launch of the game. There are plenty of secrets, plenty of characters, the graphics are excellent and it is defiantly the best fighting game I have ever played. If you want to have a good time, are willing to take time to learn the game and don't want to play a game that you can just pick up the controller and smash buttons and get a victory, killer instinct is the game for you.
