Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3

Review by SCCAN85

"Better than the home versions!"

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 first came out on the arcade like a lot of games do.This is the best version of UMK3 graphic wise and it seems funner.I don't think it's like this anymore, but when I used to go into the arcades I'd see over 20 people in line ready to play this game and it's not even that good(that's why it got a 6).Well I'd go up and play it against some pro and I'd get killed.Literally I got fatalitied so I did get killed. Now UMK3 is a nickel(woo-hoo)
but now no one cares about it so i can only play the computer.

GAMEPLAY:(7/10)Like any Mortal Kombat game with just more people and some new moves. The new characters are Ermac,
Classic Sub-Zero and Smoke as a ninja. There are a lot of moves, because there are about nearly 40 characters to choose from and each have about 3 moves each. There is four different difficulties when against the computer. There is Novice,Warrior,Master and Master2.There isn't much difference except the number of people to fight to get to Shao Kahn. This is't really fun,but when your playing against someone and twenty people are watching over your back then that is when it was fun.Don't expect much from this game because it doesn't have a lot to offer.

GRAPHICS:(9/10)These graphics are similar to Mortal Kombat 3s graphics, but just a little better. The backgrounds have a lot of detail and so do the characters.Every character is designed very realisticly, but I think real people were used to create the characters look. The ninjas looked better than the ones in Mortal Kombat.Yes I know but that's not the reason UMK3s ninjas look better than MKs ninjas because of the time difference, but because the uniforms are designed better and give off a deadly appearance.

CONTROLS:(5/10)I hate arcade controls for fighting games. The buttons for UMK3 were horrible. They were all scattered around the freaking machine and if you wanted to beat the living bajeezus out of your opponent and wanted to execute a deadly combo then you'd seriously mess up your fingers because you'd have to stretch them out like Stretch Armstrong.Sometimes the buttons would stick and the move you tried wouldn't work and that's with pretty much every machine I used. The joystick was horrible,it had a bad grip and it wouldn't work if you tried and jumped forward where you have to press up and forward at the same time. That wouldn't work and being as I was always Sub-Zero and that is needed in his combo I got screwed in my matches and is the main reason why I lost. Those controls will always haunt me.....not really, but they were bad.

MUSIC/SOUND:(4/10)Midway never tries and puts good music. They always put some low crap that you can't hear and when you can hear it you hate it.The sounds though were pretty good.Every time you'd uppercut your opponent they'd make a sound of pure pain. The fireballs and freeze balls being shot can perfectly be heard(even in an arcade).I gotta give props to Midway for the sounds, but the music can't make up for it.

OVERALL:(6/10)At the time I told you about in the introduction this game was THE GAME,but now it's not even that good.I personally don't find Mortal Kombat games to be exciting, but this is a good game to waste a couple quarters on.
