The House of the Dead

"The Undead are Coming....."
This is a review for House of the Dead for the Arcade. Whenever I go to the arcade of any kind I always spot a House of the Dead arcade machine and I am always excited to play it again and again. The Undead are so much FUN to kill over and over!
Graphics: (8) The Undead are looking pretty decent considering how old this game is. I found it rather good to look at. Not a lot of variety for the zombies in most parts, I found that they are just plain creepy looking. Even the character models are well done with our favorite two agents in the whole world. The environments are nicely detailed with some nice interaction with it.
Sound: (7) Not too much to hear here. Typical zombie groans fill your ears like in any zombie game. Sometimes those moans do get annoying but what am I going to do? I wish they could have done better with the voice-acting but no improvement in this category. Though the in-game music was nice to hear, but not enough to save it.
Game Play: (10) I love light-gun games like this, though the downside is the coast which averages between $0.75 and $1.00. You are given three lives(which to me is NOT much), and your game is over requiring you to put in that extra $1.00 you have on you. On the plus side the action is fun with a lot of zombies on the screen and other creatures of the weird realm. Plus it may help if you have a buddy help you, who ever said twice the fire power is wrong? Not me, but if you want to save money I suggest get a friend who knows how to shoot.
Storyline (If any): (7) Whats with survival-horror games and cruddy stories? I mean its the same thing over and over. That however isn't always a bad thing. I mean sometimes some super villains can be good, and defeating them at the end of the game can be rejoice-ful.
Summary: (8) This games gets a deserving 8. So if your at your local arcade and have over $5 to spend, see House of the Dead, and even have a friend with you. Get ready for some zombie shooting action SEGA style!
