Mocap Boxing
Review by Obi Dan Kenobi
"An Amazing Game, but the price for playing might make you reconsider"
Recently my local arcade added this game to its library of games. I ignored it for a good few months because of the 1.50 price it was in my arcade.(I have NEVER seen this game anywhere for less than 75 cents.)
Story: 3/10
You are a boxer. You must beat up and KO a bunch of boxers on your way to become the heavyweight champion. The ending is nothing to boast about, but the story is satisfying and basic enough for a boxing game.
Game play: 9/10
Truly where the game shines. You got a pair of 2lb gloves with built in sensors. You actually have to swing at the opposing boxer. During a fight, targets will appear on the boxer which say ((Hit 1)) or ((Hit 2)), where you have to strike the boxer at that particular point.
To avoid damage, you MUST be able to move yourself around a bit. If you don't move, you'll get hurt. You get 3 lives, which you can get hit between 2-5 times, depending on who you are fighting.
Sometimes when you down a boxer, you have to do a "rapid hitting round", where the target displays a ((hit 25)), and you have a certain amount of time to hit the other boxer that many times, with a short time limit. If you don't, you have to defeat the boxer again, although you only have to hit him once. Then, once you do, comes the rapid fire round again. This can get quite tiring and tedious as towards the end of the game, you're arms and legs will feel exhausted from all the punching and dodging.
Sound:6/10
The sounds in this game are basic and can sometimes get annoying. The music gets annoying again as you play the game. But you won't be focusing on the music and sounds as you concentrate on the enemy in front of you.
Cost: 5/10
The cost always seems high at arcade places, at around 75 cents to $1.75.
Replay ability: 10/10
This game does give you a good workout, and is a lot of fun to play. If you have the money, you'll enjoy playing this game once around everyday. Tons of people I know lost 15 pounds in a single month playing this game, which is very good for a game.
Overall: 8/10
With a high cost and tedious sounds, but great game play and an amazing replay value, it is worth playing over and over again. Play it at least once at any arcade you see.
