Pigskin 621 A.D.
Review by Buff McNoggin
"Lovin' you is easy cause you're beautiful"
Pigskin 621 A.D. was produced by Bally/Midway. I consider it the brother of Arch Rivals Basketball because the same company produced that game and the graphics between the two are almost identical.
Story
You must use your team of 621 A.D. mideval battlers in a game of knuckle pounding football where rules are simple and brutality is at an all time high. 10/10
Gameplay
Pigskin 621 A.D. is a 2d football game set in the past. You pick one team and choose between easy mode of play and Pigskin Pro. In easy mode the game oppenent is tricky at times but not so to where its very difficult to come back if you are behind. In Pigskin Pro you will go back and forth with the ball. You need to try and keep it much more then the opponent. Along the field there will be weapons that you can touch and pick up. The weapons can disable an opponent for you take the ball. If you have no weapon, fights can occur to decide who takes possesion of the ball. Points are scored with the usual touchdown or by long periods of possesion of the ball. At some point in the game a troll will called in to play for either team. He can help you or hurt you if hes on the other side. 10/10
Controls
You have the directional pad which moves your player side to side on the field. You have the punch and pass button. When you punch your team punches. 10/10
Graphics
The in game characters are smooth, colored and big enough so you see each players face. Player characters have a nice cartoonish look to them. There bodies are different shapes to show who is the fast team member and who is a big brute on defense. They each look different. They all wear medieval style outfits. The playing field is done very well. Colors are bright where they need to be and dark where they need to be. Nothing is really blocky or choppy on the playing field. This game takes a cartoonish style to the max even in the playing field. The in between game graphics on the hint screen are not so good. They look blocky and heavy sqaure pixels are apparent. 8/10
Sound
Characters sounds are great. They are very catchy. You have the grunts of fighting. They are deep and low. You have the high pitch yell of someone falling in a field hole. Its high with an echo so its sounds like they are falling far. You have the "Pass it" and "Lets Go" sound that can get you into the game. The music is the same throughout the game. Its okay at best. Its just something to go with the fast pace of the game. 9/10
Replay-Ability
Always a great game to go head to head on with your friend or to play by yourself. 10/10
Final Reccomendation
Play this game if you find it. Its good for big sports fans and competitive type arcade gamers.
