Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Review by SDJaY
"Very Fun"
I went to my local arcade and I saw a game called Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. I've been a real big fan in the VS series. I loved the first one, X-men Vs. Stree Fighter because of the cheap infinite combos. Marvel Vs. Street Fighter was good also, and so was Marvel Vs. Capcom. Now Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is a completely different game. Do these new options make the game better? or make it completely confusing? I think it's a little of both, but since I got a lot of experience in this game, it wasn't that confusing. I know all the tricks now and and its really cool how people can't beat me.
Graphics: 9/TeN- The background and illustrations of the levels are wonderful. The character animations are a different story. Still the game's graphics are beautiful and they make the game really real.
Sounds: 8/TeN-All you really here are a bunch of fighting noices and the character voices. The music is pretty cool. It has a techno-ish kind of style, but I don't really hear it that well because of all the sound Fx.
Gameplay: 9.5/TeN- A lot of stuff. First off, the buttons changed. Taking out the 2 mediums, they added 2 assist buttons;one for each partner. I kinda didn't like this because I love air combos, and it's hard for me to get used to pressing jab and short twice and then finish to get a complete air combo. As you should know already, there are 3 people to a team now. I also didn't like this too because now battles usually end in time if there are skilled players playing the game. But its good if you're the one playing because you get to play more (hehe). You can choose 3 types of assists, and you can also cancel out one super and do another one without delay. This is when it gets cheap for me. I took out 80% of an opponents power doing a triple cancel. So much other stuff too, but its mostly the same. Snapback can kick out your player for a little while and come back. Do this only if the other 2 characters he has resting have low power. Useless if not. Great gameplay. Only thing bad was that there was too much. Lucky for me that I know from experience how to play, but for people who are beginners, it will be hard for you.
Control:10/TeN- Responsive. I press jab, it jabs. Nothing wrong here. Air combos are a little harder for me though.
Replay:10/TeN- Since I don't go to the arcade a lot because I have a life, if i have a chance to go, this is the first game I'll play. I have a dreamcast, and I'm just waiting for this baby to come out for the U.S. I would import it, but I don't know. I'm thinking of doing that.
Play this game when you see an arcade. This game is fun, and will burn your money very fast. I would give this game a 9.6 which rounds to a 10. I know 10 means perfect, but I like this game a lot, despite all the mistakes.
