Metal Slug 4
Review by JF7X
"An ok metal slug game."
Metal slug 4 is probably the third or fourth best in the series. This games isn't the best but it is fun to play with once in a while. In Metal slug 4 Shin Ni-hon Kikaku(which is SNK's real name) decides to boot two of the original heroes, Eri and Tarma and put in Victor and Nadia. The story is about how a cy-ber terrorist group releases a virus in hoping to steal the secrets of Metal slug tanks. Anyways enough spoilers and on to the review itself.
Game play: The game play is very straight forward; it is just shoot any thing in your way and pick up weapons. This is really all there is too it. However sometimes they allow you to ride a tank or plane and with that you can avoid some of the contact with the enemy if you are good at avoiding bullets and shells. In the game they also give infinite continues so there is no way a person can say they never beaten it. (unless if the person didn't want to continue.)
Replay value: This game in general has no replay value unless if you want to see the ending more then once. Unless, you want to blow more money on it in the arcades.
Extras: Since this is the arcade version there are no extras to it.
Controls: The controls are very easy to learn. It's just shoot, jump, pause, move left and right, and throw bombs. Even a four year old kid can play this since the controls isn't that hard to master.
Length: This game isn't that long. It only has like five missions.
In general even though this game is like all Metal slug games I still think it's not SNK's best. I think many would agree that Metal slug 3 is better since it is the longest in the whole series so far. I would suggest to only to try it only once in the arcades. (It's not worth all the quarters you will be putting in if you do try to beat it); unless if you are a true fan of the metal slug series. Other then that I would say just play it once or twice in the arcades.
