Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Review by MegaNeo
"An okay arcade game"
Almost everyone on the planet has heard of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The turtles got their first arcade game way back in 1989. This game was eventually ported to the NES. How much fun is this old game? Read on.
Graphics and Sound 8
The graphics for TMNT are a little blurry, but considering that this game came out in 1989, that is expected. The sound for the game is okay as well. Their is almost no voice in the game, besides the occasional "cowabunga". The music for the game is okay, it's nothing amazing, not good not bad but not annoying, the arcade where you are playing will probably be loud anyway, so it doesn't matter, but if your in an unusually quite arcade, the sound won't bother you.
Story 7
One day the turtles are relaxing, then a fire breaks out in April's apartment building, the turtles have to rush in to rescue April. They make it to her, but then Shredder rushes in and snatches her! the turtles then rush to save April. Later on the turtles must save Master Splinter.
Game play 7
TMNT is a side-scrolling beat 'em up game. You pick one on the four turtles and start the game. Each of the four turtles plays slightly differently, but the difference is not very big. Up to four players can join the action at once. You face numerous enemies on the screen using your weapon to attack them. The game is pretty challenging, if a lot of enemies swarm you, your pretty much done for. If you have four people playing however,, things become easier, so it might be better to play this with some friends. One thing I did not like about this game was that you couldn't use any additional weapons. The game is divided into four stages, each stage is divided up into scenes, there are 8 scenes in the game. Every once in a while you face a boss. Some of the bosses in the game are really cheap, making things harder.
Fun Factor 7
This game does have it's good points, but the levels are a little to challenging, sometimes because the enemies are swarming you, or you are fighting a cheep boss. The game becomes a little more fun with more people, but sometimes the game just seems repetitive.
Overall 7
The game is fun, not a must play game, but an okay game. If you want a really good arcade beat 'em up, try The Simpson's or TMNT Turtles in Time
