Galaga

Review by Mr_Mitten

"NAMCO is GOD!"

Yeah I know this is an old game. Older than me in fact. And I am writing this review in the last 2 weeks of 2005. But this is the best game I have ever played.

Graphics: Well this game is 25 years old. It's 2d and very colorful and interesting. There are little explosions when your ship blows up and other little explosions when you blow up enemy ships. The graphics are crude but they do all that is required. 10/10

Sound: I've always liked the sound effects in this game. I love the sound they use for the lasers. The explosions sound good to. There is no real music to speak of except the triumphant sounding music when you clear a challenge stage with a perfect score of 40. The ship and tractor beam sounds are cool. The sound deserves and perfect 10 as well. 10/10

Gameplay: Wow... Just amazing, I still find this game entertaining even though I have my PS2 and Gamecube games with all their amazing graphics and inventive gameplay I still often find that playing Galaga on my Namco Collection Gamecube Disc is much more fun than any thing else on my Gamecube or PS2. The main gameplay is flying your little ships through endless levels blowing up endless amounts of enemy space fighters. Sometimes one of the Boss Galagas will swoop down and tractor beam your ship. If you can't avoid the beam you get sucked up and captured and you get to start with a new ship. But then you can fight the Galaga that stole your previous ship and if you shoot him while he's coming toward you, you will get the Dual Space Fighter! The gameplay never ever ever gets old. NEVER. 10/10 for the gameplay.

Overall: I think this is the best game I've ever played. This is one game that never ever gets old. This game is also a prime example of what most game developers today are doing wrong. Flashy graphics, sounds and storylines don't make a game fun. Video Games are about the game play. Everyone should have a chance to play this classic game you can probably get a Namco Arcade disc with Galaga (among other games on it) at your local store for pretty cheap. I'm not sure what system its for though I know it's on gamecube and theres a cartridge for GBA with galaga and other namco games... Overall Galaga deserves and perfect 10/10... At least in my eyes...
