NFL Blitz '99

Review by J P

"Back and Better Than Ever"

As a owner of NFL Blitz for the N64 and someone who played Blitz at the arcades, seeing this new version was a pleasant surprise. Both graphics and gameplay are improved for this update. The added detail and sounds really boost the fun of playing the game. Another good change is the playbook. It maintained the right blend of classic old plays and useful new plays. The best new thing about NFL Blitz '99 is the fact that it has four player capability. The lack of it on the N64 version is one of the things that got me bored of the game in the first place. Being able to dominate with a friend is just awesome. Contrary to my expectations, Blitz '99 shows no signs of slowdown when playing with four players. Instead, it just multiplies your fun. One last advantage that Blitz '99 has over its original is the N64 Memory card capability. This lets the game store your N64 custom plays, so you can bring your favorite plays from home to stomp other people with. The reason why I gave this game a 9 instead of a 10 is because the computer is still cheap and it can lose interest after you win a bunch of games. Next time yo ugo to an aracde, be sure to check out Blitz '99.
