Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

Review by NBAlien

"A fighter so silly, it's....well, silly."

Out of all the fighters Capcom had so far including Marvel Super Heroes and X-Men: Children of The Atom, is Capcom gaining attention with a game based on a comic book? If the answer is Yes, then Jojo's venture must be the game Capcom put in their suggestion boxes.

STORY: Based upon a Japanese comic book, Each fighter and villain are at a race to kill off Dio and save Joseph's daughter from a curse. Not knowingly enough, each fighter has a 2nd partner known as a "stand" to assist the fighter in leading it to victory.
9/10

GAME PLAY: I, however like the game play and the "stand" button is a lifeline to help gamers out by letting the fighter sit out and having the 2nd partner play on its own. I also like the way the fighters each have their special moves and some moves may be bigger or smaller than the regular moves. However, the opponent may dominate better than the player itself.
8/10

GRAPHICS: Graphics, graphics, graphics, first of all, the backgrounds are stylish, and with every scroll, it zooms up or down just like in Super Mario World 2. However, for the characters, they look a bit off the radar, but I like them in my book. Who can forget that "Continue?" screen where some guy that came from a Las Vegas casino and a cat turns you into a poker chip when you run out of quarters. Very strange.
10/10

SOUNDS: I, for example, like the music. Some of it is very reminiscent to the record scratching in the Shuma-Gorath stage in Marvel Super Heroes. Other music in this game is upbeat, while the storyline music is very dramatic. The voices are Japanese unlike other Capcom fighting games of the 90's, but the announcer voice is a bit gibberish when it's either round 1, 2 or 3.
8/10

REPLAY VALUE: Well, for the most part, when you drop in another 25, you play a different character and you get a different story from scratch, but for some, if you get another 25 on the same character, the story picks back up from where you left off. Talk about choosing your own storyline.
7/10

OVERALL PRESENTATION: With Capcom owning marvel, it was time for Lucky Land to acquire the game, and the result was stunning. It can go from the backgrounds, the charcters, and everything else that this game would own, and quite frankly, it can be the strangest Capcom fighting game to ever release in the late 90's.
