Alfred Chicken
Review by Lagunathemoron
"Alfie Chicken, not a household name"
Take a good luck at the Gameboy Advance and the Playstation One. How many of those games have been on a system before? Well Mario has been on the SNES and Megaman has featured on both. With the recent release of Alfred Chicken on Playstation and rumours of the red chicken heading to the Gameboy Advance, it is time once again to dig out an old favourite.
When Alfred Chicken was released, the platform genre was pretty new, Mario and Sonic was still in 2D and in those days, there wasn't that many clones. Alfred was one of them, but took the genre to a new level. It had many differences to Mario and Sonic, it was a game of its own. You see whilst Mario being tiny on a huge level, Alfred was quite large on a large level. By saying this, you could actually see Alfred on the screen with no difficulty or risk of saying ''Where is he?''.
Alfred Chicken is about a chicken in space-type levels, mostly set in strange enviorments, cheese being one of them. As Alfred, you must glide over holes, spikes, use springs which you can hit with your break and go and kill hard bosses. Alfred Chicken on the Amiga was different from the Super Nintendo version in the style of some of the levels and gameplay.
Alfred Chicken is one of the best looking games on the Amiga thanks to its cartoon looks and hilarious sound (And music which you can still hear at the back of your mind many yeas on).It plays like a dream too. The game is actually quite challenging, it has many puzzles which are indeed mind boggling, jumps which are tricky and bosses which are hard to defeat. For all ages, Alfred Chicken is an ideal game to try.
Animations are aplenty in this game. Whenever Alfred is diving down on to a spring or is jumping from one platform to another, you will most probably be amazed by the animations the game and Amiga is pulling off, pretty impressive.
If you do not have an Amiga, you are missing out on what Alfred Chicken good, the classical Amiga feel which cannot be contained on other versions and you will sit there and think ''This is easily done'' but when sat at the Amiga screen, you will think differently.
