Early easy levels

With your initial party, go to a desert square that says "It is very warm" and hold down the escape key. You pick up experience for each "move" you make. Just passing moves does not get experience.

You can also give everyone swim skills and go in the river, and later in the game you can climb on rubble in Spade's Casino, holding escape down, without combat interruption.
