Stranded on Mars
The doors opened with a hiss and I approached the towering desk. The obese
figure of Cornellius Wrak, Controller of Primus, didn't acknowledge my
presence - instead, he tapped a few words on the keyboard to his side and
gazed at the monitor. Checking my records, obviously. I was glad I'd paid that
hacker to clear my police file, or they would've made me a permanent resident
of Mars on the spot.
"What can I do for you, Mr. Jetland?" asked Wrak.
"My ship broke down," I said, "And I had to scrap her. Until I come up with
some money, I'm stuck in this pit you call a city. I heard you Controllers are
offering a shipload of credits to anyone who finds out why we've lost contact
with Proscenium. As I see it, I need the money - you need a favor."
Wrak nodded slowly, eyeing me. "We do need a few skilled agents," he said,
"but we're opening the investigation to all interested parties."
"Too bad," I said, "I hate sharing a reward."
Wraks lips curled back into something like a smile. "Whether you share a
reward or not depends upon how fast you can muster a few warm bodies and get
to Proscenium. But let me warn you, Mr. Jetland, not to take this assignment
too lightly. We don't know what dark fate has befallen Proscenium. You should
worry more about coming back alive..."

ATTENTION!
Before I start this FAQ you should know that The Mars Saga and Mines of Titan
are almost exactly the same in every way of the story line except a few add
on's to Mines of Titan and a few other minor things which I will post in this
FAQ.
The writings for the Mines of Titan are labeled, here is an example of such:
***** MINES OF TITAN *****
(This is an example of what Mines of Titan information looks like)
This is the extra information I have discovered in Mines of Titan and is not
in The Mars Saga, however all other writing in the game appeals to both games
the same. All other writing throughout the FAQ in (brackets) is my own
comments to help point things out and whatnot. All information in this FAQ
should be more than enough to complete the game in great detail.

===============================================================================
A. Police Bounties
===============================================================================
***** MINES OF TITAN INFORMATION *****
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Missing Specimen
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(The first bounty in Mines of Titan is to find the person or persons who stole
the specimen from the Primus university, the police offer a 20,000 credit
reward if you find the specimen jar is in tact. The first place you want to go
is the university where the specimen was stolen from, apon arrival you find out
that there was a heavy fire fight that took place here. You think it must of
been someone pretty powerful to do that kind of damage with the police, you
then find out they had pink dust on them which you might think came from the
mines because the mines has pink dust in it but this bounty has nothing to do
with the mines so the clue is pretty pointless. After you leave the university
head down to the combat training center, if you walk right past it you will run
into a group of agents. Yes these are police agents and are the same
difficulty, there are four of them so you might want to skill up a bit before
taking the four of them on. Once you are ready, walk past the combat training
center, the game tells you that you see the four agents and what they have on
them, they say to each other that you have seen "the goods" and can't be left
alive to tell anyone about it. So you then engage the four agents and if you
manage to win then you obtain the specimen... kind of. The jar it was in gets
smashed during the battle and you quickly try pick up the specimen in hopes of
still getting the reward, but as you do that the specimen absorbs itself into
your skin and you see images that have to do with later on in the game. So
basically you get squat for doing this bounty but you learn a little future
information about the game.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Phelos Fletcher
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Phelos Fletcher is the first person in The Mars Saga that is wanted dead or
alive at the police station, after playing for a little bit he will appear on
the police stations bounty list. Phelos is a easy catch and you can do it
right away just about if you wanted. If you go to the repair shops on Progeny
and offer some credits to the clerks one will say he saw Phelos with pink dust
on him, pink dust comes from the mines so it's a pretty easy hint to where he
is. You don't need to go to the repair shop and offer the credits to the clerk
to catch Phelos, you can just go straight to the mines on Progeny and he will
be there. There's a little story when you enter the mines about how you catch
Phelos and so on, at the end of the story you call the authorities and they
come pick him up and give you your credit reward for capturing him.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Cybil Graves
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cybil Graves is the next wanted dead or alive at the police station, only
after you complete her task at the munitions shop and give her the box she
needs then you can go to the police station and she will be wanted there on
their bounty list for trying to release toxic gas into the air ducts on
Parallax. After you leave the police station you want to go to Parallax where
she was last seen, if you go around to the repair shops one of them will tell
you Cybil Graves is looking to buy armor for her friends. Again you do not
need to go to the repair shops and talk to the clerks to get her but it is a
part of the game, head over to the armor shop on Parallax and there you find
her along with a story of you capturing her. This story is a little more
interesting to read but not needed because it has nothing to do with the
future of the game.
===============================================================================
B. Computer Terminal Classifieds
===============================================================================
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Cybil Graves: Primus Munitions
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the beginning of the game if you read the short story it brings up, some
guy Tom Jetland knows tells you about Cybil Graves and how she is looking for
people like you. Go to the munitions shop and talk to her, she will ask you to
do a task for her which is to find the nomad leader and give him a micro disk
for the package that was stolen from her, she will give you 1000 credits up
front and another 4000 when you complete the task.
It will probably be sometime before you will get back to this mission because
you will need to skill up your characters pretty good. Once you have done so
take the lift up to the surface of mars, once you get out to the surface just
walk in a straight line from the Primus lift so you don't get lost. Keep going
up or down, eventually a group of nomads will approach you and give you a
"finder" for the micro disk, the finder flashes yellow faster and faster the
closer you are to finding Cybil Graves package and when your right on top of
where it is it will stay a solid yellow. Where you need to go is not far from
the Primus lift at all, it is only a small distance south east of the Primus
lift. Once you find the spot and the finder is completely yellow you will need
to hit "examine area" in your option menu. It will say something like you
found a dead body of a nomad with a package stuck in his hands but he is
underground or something like that.
This is the point where you need a notch of mining skill. Only one notch will
be enough, but before you can get the package for Cybil Graves you will have
to had gone into the mines and found a mining laser, once you have the mining
laser and one mining skill notch go back to where the nomad is, dig him up and
you will have retrieved the package. Once you get the package you will find a
tunnel under the nomad, this is not part of this task and go in at your own
risk. Now that you have the package go back to Cybil Graves and she will give
you the rest of your reward and that will be that this task.
***** MINES OF TITAN INFORMATION *****
(The only change in this task is very minor for Mines of Titan and more
helpful if you don't know where to go but you should if you just read above,
the change is the "finder" instead of it just flashing yellow as you get
closer the "finder" has an arrow which tells you which way you need to travel
in.)
***** MINES OF TITAN INFORMATION *****
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Herb : Progeny Armory
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(If you go to the computer terminal and search the classifieds you will see
one of the three want ads is herb at the Progeny armory, apparently someone is
stealing his armor from his shop. He has no idea who is doing it and needs
someone to find out who the person or persons is who are doing it. So when
your ready, and you have to be pretty strong to complete this task you can set
off to Progeny and talk to herb. When you enter the Progeny armory your
greeted by herb telling you that you must be there for the ad he put up, also
he tells you the story you already know about someone stealing his armor. You
then notice a bolt on the ground and look up at the vent shaft and notice it's
open, you then climb in getting away from the annoying herb and crawl down the
shaft for a while till you run into a unmovable gate which at that point you
hear loud music coming from further down the vent. You then crawl back out of
the vent shaft to herbs armory again and tell him you will get to the bottom
of this just before you depart herbs armory.
The clue is kind of vague about what you need to do so I'll just plain tell
you what you need to do, on the eastern side of Progeny there is a lounge by
the name of "Look B4 You Lounge" you have to go to, but before you get in
there you will be intercepted by a group of six nomads right in front of the
lounge. The story explains that as you go to enter the lounge you run into a
group of nomads and you both know what the deal is about them being the ones
who are robbing the armory, so the nomads don't want you squealing on them so
a fight ensues. This is where you need to be pretty strong to beat them(these
are the nomads that are found on the surface of mars) so golum armor and some
good meds will help you beat them, if or when you defeat them herb will come
up to you and give you your reward which is two sets of battle armor which
retails for around 6600 credits. You will also get the nomads stuff which is
worth more in total if you sell it than herbs reward he gives you.)
***** MINES OF TITAN INFORMATION *****
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Natasha : Eastern Parallax Development Center
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Before you can do this task you must complete the two previous tasks of Cybil
Graves and Herb. Once you have done these you can go to the eastern personal
development center on Parallax, a woman named Natasha will approach you and
ask you if your there because of the ad on the computer terminal. If you
answer yes she will tell you what she needs done, she offers you 5000 credits
to deliver a metal briefcase to the north combat training center in Parallax
to her brother Rocky. She needs it done fast and if you don't do it fast there
will be consequences(and believe me there is consequences if you don't
hurry!), as you go to leave and deliver the briefcase she slaps a pair of
titanium cuffs on you!. She then tells you it's only to keep her investment
safe.
So now leave the development center and head to the north combat training
center, when you arrive you ask for a man named Rocky. The clerk informs you
that Rocky had to run to his shop on Primus for business reasons and had told
the clerk before he left that he would pay a extra 2000 credits if you
delivered it to him at the Primus combat training center. If you agree the
clerk gives you a free speeder pass to make it to Primus.
When you reach the speeders on Parallax and you walk through the metal
detector it goes off making loud sounds, a guard holding a 9mm at you wants
you to stop. As more guards pour out at you, you quickly leap over the counter
just barley escaping their grasp. You hop onto the speeder with haste to make
it to Primus, you then hear ticking coming from the briefcase and wonder what
you got yourself into.
Now in Primus your in the clear so depart from the speeders, quickly go to the
combat training center and find Rocky. When you enter the shop you ask for
Rocky and he approaches you and asks if that briefcase is from his sister, he
then mentions he has no sister. He uncuffs you from the briefcase and you get
a feeling you should get out of there rather quickly. As soon as you leave the
combat training center you hear a big BBBBOOOOOOMMMM!! come from the combat
training center and decide to get out of there before police arrive. This will
complete the task and leave the Primus combat training center worse for wear,
it will be under repairs if you try enter it.)
===============================================================================
C. Proscenium
===============================================================================
This is the main task about The Mars Saga and Mines of Titan which makes it
the most difficult of them all. From the start you hear about Proscenium and
sort of what's happened to it, but as you play the game if you look hard
enough you find out that Proscenium has been overrun by creatures and they
have wiped out all humans there. Before you can go to Proscenium you have to
do a few things, well you have to if you don't know where to look and you
won't till you listen up.
Proscenium isn't accessible through the surface lift even though it does have
a lift on mars, the only way to get to Proscenium is a volcano vent. Before
setting off to find the vent on mars you will need to get the remote detector,
this will be necessary to enter the actual mines of Proscenium. First off you
will have to catch a ride to Progeny, from there make your way to the
controllers office and enter in to talk with the controller there. Talk with
him and he will explain that the Primus controller has a certain computer chip
he wants, if you hacked into the computer system and read the controllers
e-mails you will see they are bickering back and forth about it, anyways he
will ask you to get it for him and in return he will set you up with a remote
copy. So go back to Primus and force your way into the controllers office and
then forcefully take the chip from him because that's the only way you can get
it. Taking the chip will make hunters now come after you but you can just hack
into the computer system and clear your file to rectify this. Now return back
to Progeny and take the chip to the controllers office, he will now give you
the remote detector you need to get into the mines of Proscenium. Now to find
that vent on mars you have to have the finder from Cybil Graves mission, after
that you can go to Parallax and talk to one of the repair shop clerks and they
will tell you, you can find a certain man at the university. Unfortunately the
man is not at the Parallax university but is in fact at the Progeny
university, if you went into the natural cave under the corpse of the nomad on
Cybil Graves mission and found the new species that was in the system file on
the computer, you can then go to the hospital and a human like creature will
speak to you while it is dying and it will tell you to find Clinton Cain. Of
course neither of the two are necessary, the university and hospital, but it's
just a neat part of the game to help you along if you don't have a
walkthrough. So anyways go to the university in Progeny and Clinton Cain will
address you as a old friend he hasn't seen in a while, you then go into his
office where he explains that his last agent failed and he needs you to find
out what's happening at Proscenium. He then adjusts your finder to find the
volcano vent that eventually leads to Proscenium, if you go to the surface of
mars from Progeny and go south west of Progeny then the finder will blink more
and more as you get closer.
When you find the volcano vent go in, there are three different parts of this
cave before you even get to Proscenium. It's a real pain to find the hole in
the ground that leads down further to the next cave, after you find all three
you will come to one which leads to Proscenium. The screen will go grey and it
will read off something, it will tell you that you see a huge arachnid
creature that is covering something that you presume is a egg sack, and that
creatures are bringing parts of Proscenium to it, also there is a pile of dead
humans laying close by it. You then wait till the evening and jump down and go
into the Proscenium mines, I guess it's to scary to fight right there. You hit
the mines of Proscenium and look around for the hole in the ground where the
creatures came from, a warning to all of you that the cave ins in this mine
are deadly, if you are not pretty high in stamina, agility and might it will
kill you in one blow. If you are high in them then it will do a good deal of
damage to you, it could be useful to bring an experienced miner with you to
detect cave ins. So when you finally locate the hole you dive in, which leads
to more volcanic caves. If you use "view map" a lot then you are screwed when
you try to use it here, it will tell you there is interference and all you get
is static in your map box thing so your looking for another hole in the ground
with no map to tell you where you have been so you can explore new parts of
the cave. When you finally reach the hole on this map and go in, you guessed
it another volcanic cave, so when you get there and look around for a bit and
find a certain area of the cave it will pause for a bit, then a grey screen
will pop up telling you that you remember this area from the visions that the
new species were giving you when you picked them up. You then find a door and
in it is a machine which the ancient creatures used to experiment on other
species. You fiddle around with it and turn it off, as you do that and think
about Proscenium you are then attacked.
The game will tell you to insert the boot disk(only for The Mars Saga), after
you do so four creatures are before you and pretty close to you, you can not
flee and are forced to fight. These four creatures are deadly, you can not out
run them so you will need an excellent strategy to beat these creatures
because they kill you in three melee hits if you are not ready for them,
that's with fully trained golum armor which I had. They also take a lot to
kill even with full auto which I also had and one more thing they do if you do
get them low in energy is they heal themselves up with the strength of
compasses, so a good strategy is in order to defeat them which I will let you
in on to how I killed them. First off you need to do tactical combat, have
your men lined up horizontally and you will need at least three sticks of
dynamite, and then be prepared to hurt yourself a lot but it's worth it to
kill them. When you first start off you will need to run to the very end of
the cave with all three members(if you follow what I said and have only three
members in The Mars Saga), but remember I said you can't outrun them because
they are as fast as you with full agility?. So what you need to do is have
two members run to the very end of the cave and have the other throw a stick
of dynamite right in front of your middle man whoever it is and then command
them to also run to the end of the cave. The stick of dynamite will explode
and hurt everyone including your party, what the dynamite does is it will make
the creatures run away from the blast so you want to throw the dynamite where
I said or else they will just keep running right at you if you throw it behind
them. After the explosion stops they will start to come at you again and your
turn will be up, it will ask you if you want to repeat your orders again,
select no. Have your other two members run to the back of the cave again
because neither of them will have made it yet, then with your other member
again throw another stick of dynamite in front of but not to close to the
creatures, which will back them off again and will probably just get your
other member a bit but should still be alive. By then your other two members
should of reached the back of the cave and can start firing now, still do this
with tactical combat to be effective. Your other character will be nearly
there, have them throw one more stick of dynamite in front of the creatures
then have them run the rest of the way to the back of the cave and fire. By
now you will have a big gap between you and the blobs and you will be able to
shoot them down and kill them without them reaching you, make sure to focus
all of your fire power from all three members on one blob at a time to kill
them or they will just continue to heal themselves if you cannot kill them
fast enough.
(The emulator and rom I was using for The Mars Saga ended here, it asked me to
"insert the original boot disk". Neither of the two roms worked it just
repeated the same message over again. So this was the furthest in The Mars
Saga I got, if you have any information on how I can get past this point or
use a different type of emulator to get past this point please e-mail me and
let me know.
But in Mines of Titan this was the end of the game so I do not know if The
Mars Saga ended here as well or if it continued on.)
***** MINES OF TITAN INFORMATION *****
(The strategy mentioned above does not work in Mines of Titan, the blobs will
continue to come after you even when you throw the dynamite in front of them.
Also the dynamite does a lot more damage to you than in The Mars Saga, one
stick of dynamite can kill you if you take the full amount of the blast
without healing.
What I recommend for defeating the four blobs here is to even up the score
with another party member so it would be four on four. The fourth member will
be able to be in a horizontal line with the other three members unlike in The
Mars Saga where only three can fit in a horizontal line. Max out all four
characters and try to get them all to be able to use med kit c's, med kit c's
will instantly heal you full so when your getting low on energy these are
perfect. It will be a straight four on four match up, each blob will attack
one of your members so it's a one on one for each. It's still best to use
manual/tactical combat to defeat these blobs, just for the fact you will need
to concentrate your fire on one blob at a time to defeat it, otherwise the
blobs will just heal themselves and the fight will go on for a very long time
and they will win. So follow this strategy and you'll be set to win Mines of
Titan.)
***** MINES OF TITAN INFORMATION *****
(After defeating the four blobs a story explaining what happened appears, how
you learned of the blobs and the Titanians, how the controller's knew about
what happened to Proscenium and covered it up to save their own lives, leaving
hundreds of innocent lives go to waste. You plan to return to Progeny to tell
your tale and unite all of Mars including the Nomads.)

II. Beginning Information
*******************************************************************************
===============================================================================
A. Character Selection
===============================================================================
You start out with a little story describing what is happening with Mars and
what happened with you, so you start with a man by the name of Tom Jetland who
is a decently rounded player but there's better from the start. My advice is
to look for recruits, a good category to look in is police because of the
main fact they can wear more advanced body armor off the get go unlike the
rest and also some have rifle skills which is a great starting gun to use and
continue to use the entire game. Marines are also a very nice pick, marines
start off with the most might, agility and stamina which gives them the
highest overall health. You may have to search for a while to find a marine
with really high of all three stats but marines do have the highest total
health you can recruit from. So my advice is recruit a good police officer
with some rifle and good strength, agility and might or a high healthed marine
which all marines have some rifle training. After that you can choose to dump
Jetland and recruit another member if you wish or just stay solo, but before
dumping him(that is if you decide to dump him for another recruit or stay
solo) transfer his .22 pistol and flak jacket to your first recruit. All
recruites from every career background can learn to use anything in this game
including golum armor.
===============================================================================
B. What To Look For
===============================================================================
When picking recruits it's good to look at their "view summary" to check out
there stats and make sure they are well rounded character's, on the left of
the screen there is a list of six stats: Might, Agility, Stamina, Wisdom,
Education and Charisma. Three of these six stats make up your health bar which
is important, here are the stats and what they do:
1. Might
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : A measure of strength, might determines
what weapons you can use. Strong characters can wield heavier weapons than
weak characters.
My Explanation : Might doesn't do to much it's basically another bar towards
your maximum health, and it's still pretty important due to when you lose this
your health is soon to be gone and your dead. Also might has to do with
cudgel, melee and blades and how much damage you do to the enemy. Might is the
least important of the three bars that count towards your total health but
don't leave it out if you decide to buff up your character at the personal
development center, try to keep all three bars close together.
2. Agility
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : Your accuracy and speed. Agility is a
critical attribute in that it determines the number of moves you get in a
combat turn.
My Explanation : Agility is probably the most important bar or at least does
the most for you. Agility determines how fast you fire your weapon and how
fast and far your character can move around in one turn, so having high
agility will allow you to shoot multiple times and do more damage to the enemy
your facing or it will allow you to quickly get around a corner of a building
in case you need to make a fast exit to regroup yourself and heal or just kill
off a turn to get a chance to flee. High agility is great to have but remember
to keep all your stats close together because if you only have high agility
and low might and stamina then your gonna find out pretty fast you won't last
long in a fight due to not being able to take very many shots.
3. Stamina
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : The amount of physical punishment a
character can take. Characters with high stamina don't tire - or die - as
quickly as those without.
My Explanation : Stamina is also a key stat to have high, along with your
other two bars. Stamina has to do with how much punishment your character can
take and is your first bar to go down when getting shot, when it's gone might
starts to go then agility and then your dead. So make sure not to have a
character with low stamina or you will find out he can't take very much
punishment at all, even with a really good set of armor.
4. Wisdom
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : A character's perceptions and intuition.
A high wisdom gives your character a slight edge in many different situations.
My Explanation : Im not entirely certain what wisdom all does at all, and the
manual doesn't help much. My guess would be wisdom helps out in combat for
when you use computer move, possibly the A.I. fights with a little more
knowledge and a little less stupidity.
5. Education
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : A character's ability to learn academic
skills. A character's education level may limit the amount he or she could
learn in a field.
My Explanation : The only thing I have found that education does is limit the
amount of medical a character can learn, I wouldn't worry about education to
much just don't pick the dumbest person out there and you will be alright.
6. Charisma
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : Not only a person's good looks, but how
appealing and convincing he or she can be. Charismatic characters might use a
little charm to persuade a merchant to give them a bargain on some goods...
My Explanation : Personally I don't think charisma is all that important so I
wouldn't worry about it at all, what it does is affect the price of the items
you buy and sell but not by very much and it's just a waste to get lots of
charisma to save 100 credits when it's pretty easy to become rich in the game
fast and early with or without cheating.
7. Health
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : "If you don't have your health, you
don't have anything" - in short, you're dead. Health is the average of your
character's might, agility and stamina, and represents his or her conditions
at any moment. When a character gets wounded in any way, his or her health
drops. In turn, might, agility and stamina decline along with a character's
health - thus, a severely weakened character may suddenly find it impossible
to lift even his short sword.
The character's health is depicted as a bar on the right-hand side of the
window, a green bar means the character is at full potential. When the bar
turns yellow, it means you have incurred some damage and need healing. A red
bar means your damage level is critical and that first-aid should be
administered immediately. Pay attention to the health bar at all times. If the
red bar reaches zero, that character is dead. Life may be cheap on Mars, but
an experienced character is hard to replace.
My Explanation : The manual's explanation pretty much explains it all, health
is the most important thing in this game, so keeping it long and green will
ensure a long life. Train in might, agility and stamina to get your health bar
longer because when your health is all gone it's gone for good and you have to
dump that player and replace them with a fresh untrained recruit.
-. Conclusion
There is a maximum set number on the skills you can learn so don't go crazy
and learn everything you can, choose wisely and try not to waste a skill
point.
I like to stick to maxing out a weapon skill such as auto or rifle preferably,
getting golum and upgrading medical until all of my group can use a med kit C
and then I fit in bits and pieces of personal development, programming and
mining.
My advice to you is to take no more than three party members the entire game(
except for Mines of Titan) just for the fact it will create more problems with
more people, such as more and harder enemies will be attracted to come your
way, it will cost you a lot more credits in the long run and for the simple
fact it gets all confusing to who has what item and them all bumping into each
other in battle.
In The Mars Saga and Mines of Titan there is only one way to earn experience
to go up in skill levels and that is to kill, but it's good to keep two or
three of your characters at a close skill rate for weaponry at least, this way
your group kills your enemies evenly and the experience is evenly distributed.
If you just work on one character for a while and decide to recruit another
character later on and try to get him experience then it's gonna be a little
difficult due to your experienced fighter is killing all your enemies before
your new character even lands a single blow to get any experience.
***** MINES OF TITAN INFORMATION *****
(In Mines of Titan I recommend four party members, you can fit all four
members in a horizontal or vertical line where you can only fit three members
in a horizontal or vertical line in The Mars Saga. You will have that extra
fire power, cargo hold capability and if you want more doctors to heal the
group more efficiently.)
===============================================================================
C. Battles
===============================================================================
Battles are pretty simple and quick, but a battle that was easy before might
change and you could lose a member of your party if your not careful. There
are two ways to battle 1. auto battle, which the computer will take control of
your party and fight, and 2. manual/tactical combat which you control your
party to fight, but i'll go into more detail about both battles later on in
this FAQ. One key thing to watch for is when your confronted by something, be
sure to read if it's for example "A Thug" which means only one or "A Thug And
Friends" which means 2 - 7 enemies, different types of enemies group up such
as muggers, beggars and razorbacks also thugs and hoodlums team up and so on,
it does not always point out that a hoodlum is in the group of friends with
the thug so watch out for that. A little note to end this, when you first
recruit a character and add him or her to your party, before being able to
pool or distribute credits you must be in at least one battle where experience
is earned, however this does not effect transferring items.
1. Choosing Your Battles
As soon as you emerge from the bar with or without more recruits, you will be
vulnerable to getting attacked. So be sure to pick and choose your battles
carefully and know the limits of your characters and who you can defeat. Odds
are the first thing your gonna walk into is citizens which you can choose to
attack or wave politely and be on your way. Citizens are a good choice to
build yourself up early, you may have to kill more of these guys than other
enemies but they are easy and are melee only which means they don't ever use
ranged weapons. There are some harder enemies out there so this is were you
pick your battles, stay away from all law enforcement including rookies,
agents and officers at least for the time being, hit men and hunters are also
ones you want to stay away from. It won't be to long into the game where you
will discover which things you can get by no problem and which ones want to
give you a hard time.
First thing that will pop up when you encounter someone or something is "Do
you wish to attack?" followed by a yes or no. If you choose no, to a friendly
person such as a citizen or law enforcement(unless your wanted by the police)
then it will say you wave politely and move along, if it's someone who wants
to kill you and take your items then they will want to fight you, unless you
use a certain skill to get out of the fight, more on those skills later. If
that doesn't work then the last option is to flee, it's not 100% but it's
useful and works a good portion of the time, just make sure to use
manual/tactical combat to get the first chance to flee if you use auto you
have to wait a full turn and by then it could be to late, if you can't flee
the first time try again the second time and in rare cases the third time. So
remember fleeing is a big part of the game whether fleeing from certain doom
or just to get away from annoying pests.
2. Auto Combat
When you first encounter something and are attacked it will ask you whether
you want to engage in auto combat or manual/tactical combat, also it will ask
you if you wish to view the combat, I recommend always watching because it can
always go from good to ugly fast. If you choose auto combat then the computer
will take full control of your characters for the entire fight unless you push
spacebar or enter, then it will ask you if you wish to repeat orders or change
them, if you wish to change them then it will switch over to manual/tactical
combat and you will have a chance to flee if needed.
Auto combat has some good and bad points about it, first the good. Auto combat
works reasonably well most of the time, it always try's to get all of your
party firing at the enemy and if your injured with medical skill and if you
have medical supplies on you it will auto heal yourself, but it will not heal
other members of your party if they are low on health. The other good thing
about auto combat is that the computer will only fire and hit other enemies on
the screen, read manual/tactical combat if your not sure what I mean. The bad
of auto combat is that for one round you have no control over anything unless
you intervene after the first turn, also your characters will sometimes be
pretty stupid when it comes to the enemy being at the corner of a building
firing at you, your character most of the time will just keep walking up
toward the enemy while getting hit and won't fire until centimeters away from
the target or he will go hand to hand combat with the enemy. Also as I said
before your team will not heal another member if he has been injured and is
dying.
You will probably use auto combat most of the time in the game but when a
difficult enemy approaches you, you may want to use manual/tactical combat so
you have full control and no mistakes are made.
3. Manual/Tactical Combat
Manual/Tactical combat can be very useful in battles, you have full control so
if you have the chance just use the "line them up" strategy. You can also
protect other characters if they are getting injured badly which is a really
useful thing because late in the game when you have all your characters built
up you don't want anyone to die cause it's a pain to work another member up
the ladder again. There are a couple bad points to manual/tactical combat
however, for one if your not careful you can shoot your own characters and
cause them damage or even kill them so watch what your shooting at and where
your characters are at all times. When you use manual/tactical combat and
begin to shoot a enemy he will die, but your character will continue to fire
upon the spot where the enemy was until the turn is over unless you direct him
otherwise, if you hit repeat orders he will continue to fire at the ground for
the entire time.
The manual/tactical combat screen is divided into the top and bottom portions.
In the top is the overview of your characters and the enemy, and the bottom is
a menu of eight commands:
1. Move 2. Computer move
3. Use Item 4. Orders
5. Next Character 6. Repeat Orders
7. Begin Combat 8. Flee
1. Move
The move command commands the character that is highlighted with the white box
around him. To use move just select move and move the box that surrounds your
character and move it anywhere on the battlefield, keep in mind your agility
determines how far and fast you move to that spot, if you move the box to far
for your character a message will pop up saying "To far, try anyway?". What
this means is obviously it's to far for your character so if you select yes,
then your character will go as far to that spot as he possible can. After the
turn is over if you do not change his orders then he will continue to go to
that spot next turn and if he gets there before the turn ends he will sit
there and do nothing until the next turn when you change his orders.
Lastly, remember when you move your characters that they will take the
shortest route to the spot you picked, and that means if it passes through
fire by the enemy then sure enough they will continue to march through and get
hit by their fire.
2. Computer Move
Computer move is basically auto combat, but just for the single character. You
can choose some characters to auto combat and choose another, say a medic to
heal another person in the group or use some other weapon or item. After
selecting computer move at the end of the turn it will ask you if you wish to
repeat it or change it.
3. Use Item
Use item is just what it says, you can choose to use a medical device, a
weapon or something else in battle. You can use several items per turn in
combat or just use one item such a something medical up to several times as
well.
4. Orders
Selecting orders will give you a list of three options: "Orders Ok", "Del
Last Orders" and finally "New Orders". "Orders Ok" will leave the present
orders you have and change nothing. "Del Last Orders" will delete your last
orders you gave to your characters, and "New Orders" will reset your old
orders and you will have to create new orders for your characters.
5. Next Character
When your done giving your character orders and are ready to move to your next
character to give your orders you will hit "Next Character". Don't worry if
you accidentally hit next character before your done giving him orders, you
can always go back and change them again.
6. Repeat Orders
If your characters did a good job with their previous orders and you want them
to do the same thing then you can hit "Repeat Orders" and your character will
do the same thing as before, but remember what your character did you don't
just want to hit this if he killed an enemy, then you will be just shooting a
empty space.
7. Begin Combat
When your finally done giving all your characters their orders and your happy
with them you will hit "Begin Combat" this will start up combat for one turn,
then it will ask you if you wish to repeat your orders.
8. Flee
This commands allows you if you can, to escape without being touched unless
you choose this after battle has already begun. It is not 100% proof but in
sticky situations flee can be the best tactic for the good of your party. If
it does not work then a message will say "You don't get away!" and you will be
forced to fight at least one round, but after that round is over you will get
another opportunity to flee.
4. - Battle Strategies
Here are a couple of great battle strategies that could save your life or help
you take as minimal damage as possible.
1. Lining Them Up
Lining them up is a fairly easy strategy but you need a wall in front of you
and the enemy is behind that wall. You stay around the corner from the enemy
and wait for them to come around the corner, they will most likely come in a
straight line but the odd time they pair up and round the corner which isn't a
big deal if you follow this strategy. Once they come around the corner your
party will be lined and ready to shoot and kill them before they even get a
single shot off, leaving you untouched. Here is an example of what you should
do.
---------------------------------------------o
Example: |
|
| |
| |
|o |
|o |
|o < Them |
_________________|o |
x . . o |
You > x . |
x ^ |
bullets |
---------------------------------------------o
This is a perfect way to kill enemies, leaving you untouched.
2. When To Flee
Fleeing is a big part of this game, knowing when to run is a good way of
keeping all your party with you. Early in the game you'll want to fight a lot
to earn money and experience but you have to know who to flee from to keep
your party alive and safe. Although fleeing is not 100% full proof you do
manage to get away with it about 75% of the time, unless your in the mines
where some enemies no matter what you do you are forced to fight to the end.
Early on you want to avoid the more difficult enemies such as, law
enforcement: rookies, agents and officers(This being the order of difficulty)
and also avoid hit men and hunters. After furthering your characters you will
be able to challenge them, but the more you further your characters the more
friends they bring along so be sure to be ready, and if your not there's
always fleeing.

III. In-Depth Game Information
*******************************************************************************
This is gonna be the most important part of the FAQ you'll want to know about
the game in terms of knowing almost every aspect of the game itself, so get
comfortable and read up.
===============================================================================
A. Armor
===============================================================================
Armor is a very important part of keeping your party alive, the better the
armor the more shots you will be able to absorb without dying.
You should always try and have the best armor you can get, rather than buy
some you can just loot it off your slain enemies. More advanced armor like
mesh, hydro, and battle armor takes battle armor training which all police
recruits have off the start. Golum armor is the most superior armor in the
game, once you have it you will need to level up in programming to hack into
the computer network and read up about golum c++ then finally once you have
enough programming you will be able to tune the armor to your party.
===============================================================================
B. Weapon Skills
===============================================================================
1. Arc Gun
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : The arc gun skill reflects your
character's proficiency in the use of arc guns.
My Explanation : The arc gun can be very useful later into the game, it fires
out a chemical spray that can injury all the enemies on the field at once if
they are within the firing range of the weapon. It injures the enemy slowly
but at a fast rate if that makes sense at all, just like any other weapon is
can cause serious damage to your own party if your not careful with it. It's
likely you will never need this weapon in the game but if you choose to use it
then it's a neat weapon to have. To use the arc gun you will have to use your
programmer to hack into the war game room file to list your party on the
roster, after that you can train in it for free but it still uses skill
points.
2. Auto
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : Auto skill is not how well you drive,
but how well you handle an automatic weapon.
My Explanation : Auto is one of the best weapons to use, it deals the most
damage when your fully trained in it, but not by much when compared to the
rifle. Auto is trained in the war games room so you will need your programmer
to get you into the war game room to train in it.
3. Blade
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : The blade skill represents how well
trained your character is in the use of any bladed weapons used hand-to-hand
from switchblades to short swords.
My Explanation : Blade is a neat skill but I wouldn't recommend bothering
with it, if you run into a difficult enemy the odds are he will kill you
before you even get to him. You do some crazy damage with it but again it is
a close encounter weapon so I wouldn't bother with it in a serious game. Blade
is trained in the combat training building and the personal development
center.
4. Cudgel
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : Cudgel skill is how well you wield
weapons such as bats, lead pipes and rubber hoses.
My Explanation : Even more useless than blade is cudgel, cudgel is the skill
of hitting your enemy with a blunt object. In order to do so you have to get
close to the enemy, which does in fact make this a pointless skill for a
serious game. Cudgel is trained in the combat training building.
5. Hand Gun
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : The handgun skill determines how well
your character can load, aim and fire all types of handguns. Raising this
skill will allow characters to use more powerful handguns.
My Explanation : Handgun is the practical weapon, it's pretty speedy and can
do decent damage but I would switch to a more powerful weapon later on in the
game. It's cheaper than auto and rifle but at the cost of damage. Hand gun is
trained in the combat training building.
6. Melee
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : Melee is how well you fight with your
fists.
My Explanation : Melee being the absolute useless and worst fighting skill
there is, this also is a close encounter attack method. Rather than having a
weapon you only use your two fists, so if you want a dead fighter quick then
stick with melee. Melee is trained in the combat training building and the
personal development center.
7. Missile Launcher
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : Not in manual.
My Explanation : The missile launcher is a really good weapon to have but
only for one party member, what it does for the later guns is shoot a missile
out at your enemy and it explodes shooting shrapnel out in a small area where
it can hurt multiple targets. It is sorta like the arc gun but with further
range, less attack area and the missile launcher does a little bit more damage
than the arc gun.
8. Rifle
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : Rifle skill determines how accurate your
character is with any rifle. More powerful rifles are available to your
character as their skill is increased.
My Explanation : Rifle is probably the best choice other than auto. It is
powerful, and the rifles are cheaper to buy then auto. I would recommend
starting out with rifle and also you could continue to use it throughout the
entire game. Rifle is trained in the combat training building.
9. Throwing
The Mars Saga Manual's Explaination : Throwing is how accurately a character
can throw an item or use a projectile weapon. It's often useful to throw a
couple of Molotov cocktails before reaching for your uzi.
My Explaination : Throwing isn't really a skill, because you can't learn it.
There are just some weapons that are thrown like dynamite, barb darts, molotov
cocktails and so on. You don't need any special skill to throw them just go to
use items and select the throwing weapon and choose where or who you want to
throw it at.
===============================================================================
C. Armor, Weapon & Medical Tool List
===============================================================================
1. Armor List
o-------------o
| Flak Jacket | - The flak jacket is the most basic of armor, it is obviously
o-------------o better than no armor and is fairly effective against barb
darts and will reduce a decent amount of damage against .22 pistol handguns.
o----------o
| Vac Suit | - The vac suit doesn't offer much protection at all, the only
o----------o decent use of it is to get onto the surface of mars or the
mines but even then the better armors will do the same with a lot more
protection.
o---------o
| Reflect | - Reflect is a excellent armor if you can't get any battle armor
o---------o and even then it ranks pretty well with some battle armor. It
is great at reducing lower hand gun shots like the .22 pistol, 9mm pistol,
.357 revolver and even decent for the .44 magnum. Not a bad choice to start
the game off with if you can afford it or rip it off a dead rookie.
o------------o
| Mesh Armor | - The mesh armor isn't really that good for ranged shots, you
o------------o take more damage wearing this armor than reflect from hand
guns, rifles and auto guns but mesh armor is great against melee, cudgel and
blade attacks. It actually is one of the best close combat armors there is so
only use it for such.
o-------------o
| Hydro Armor | - Hydro armor is a very good armor to wear, great at ranged
o-------------o and melee attacks this armor is useful to wear if you ever
get the chance to use it, usually you never do get to use it because you go
straight for golum armor by the time you can afford it or you skill up more
and get the battle armor.
o--------------o
| Battle Armor | - Battle armor is obviously the best of the battle armor
o--------------o skill, is takes a lot of punishment to kill you from ranged
or close combat attacks. This armor is right up there with golum armor but not
quite as good and the price of it doesn't make it the better choice of the
two.
o--------o
| Armor? | - Your asking yourself what is armor?. Well armor?, yes with the
o--------o question mark is a set of battle armor that is found in the
charred opening maps and in the natural volcano vent maps. It is found by
walking over certain parts of the floor and finding it, armor? is a decent set
of armor... personally I think it is weaker than battle armor all together but
is just as good as hydro armor and well it's free if you can find it. One more
thing is that you don't need full battle armor skill to use it, one notch will
do it.
o-------o
| Golum | - Cleary the best armor in the game, golum takes the most punishment
o-------o from ranged and close combat. Although it is a little complicated
to get, it's worth it in the long run and will give you a good shot on beating
the game.
2. Weapon List
The weapons that are separated are alien weapons and can not be bought in any
munitions shop, they are found in the charred openings and the natural
volcanic levels.
o----------------o o------------------o o----------------o o------------------o
| Arc Guns | | Auto | | Blade | | Cudgel |

o----------------o o------------------o o----------------o o------------------o
| Synapse Beam | | | | Reaver Rifle | | Mind Melt |
o----------------o o------------------o o----------------o o------------------o
3. Medical Tool List
o---------o
| Bandage | - The bandage heals very minor damage and it will require quite a
o---------o few to heal a injured ally, but on the plus side you don't need
any medical skill to use it and it is fairly cheap, but the bad side is you
need a lot of them and it will take up a lot of space in your inventory.
o-----------o
| Injection | - The injection is a decent step up from the bandage, it will
o-----------o still take a good amount of injections to heal a badly
injured ally but it is about 300% more effective than the bandage, you will
also need at least one notch of medical to use the injection.
o----------o
| Compress | - The compress is a great healing tool and is pretty effective at
o----------o what it does, for a badly injured character it will only take 2
to 3 compresses to fully heal a character. You will need a couple of more
notches of medical to use them but it's worth it.
o------------o
| Heal Salve | - The heal salve is the ultimate single use medical tool, it
o------------o will fully heal any injured character but the price of the
tools can get pretty high when you buy them to keep healing yourself, also two
more notches will be required to use these... again if you have lots of
credits it's well worth the cost and skill usage.
o-----------o
| Med Kit A | - Med kit a's are hardly worth buying, yes it does heal an
o-----------o unlimited amount of times but only heals like a bandage each
time and there for is useless to use to heal in a battle. Two more notches
will be needed to use this tool.
o-----------o
| Med Kit B | - Med kit b is a good healer, about as good as a compress which
o-----------o is good but if your in a serious battle it won't heal you as
much as you would like and you can find yourself using it a lot in a battle if
you match up against a hunter or nomad, almost too much!. This tool can be
used an unlimited amount of times as well and will require two more notches of
medical.
o-----------o
| Med Kit C | - Ahh my tool of choice! Each time the med kit c is used you are
o-----------o healed to full stats even in a battle which makes this a great
battle tool as well. It has unlimited uses as other med kit's do and as usual
will require two more notches of medical to use but it is TOTALLY WORTH IT!
o-----------o
| Mind Mend | - This tool is found in the charred opening maps and the natural
o-----------o volcano vents maps, it is basically like a med kit c, it will
heal your character or ally to full stats, if you can find it you can save
yourself from using a lot of skill points up and credits.
===============================================================================
D. Other Skills
===============================================================================
***** MINES OF TITAN INFORMATION *****
(In Mines of Titan a few of these skills do not show up and you can not train
in them, i'm not totally sure what they did anyways and were not needed to win
the game.)
1. Administration
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : Administration is the ability to talk to
others in a persuasive tone. This skill can be useful in talking to the
authorities.
My Explanation : Administration has to deal with the proportion of fights you
want to fight in, for example if your trained half way in administration then
you will be able to talk your way out of half the fights your encountered
with, if your fully trained then you will get out of all fights your
encountered with and so on. However administration only works in the cities
and not in the mines or on the surface of mars. Administration is trained at
the university.
2. Battle Armor
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : It takes training to move in battle
armor and remain agile enough to be effective.
My Explanation : Battle armor training let's you use mesh, hydro and battle
armor. Without it you can only use the three first sets of armor, the more
training you have in battle armor the stronger your armor becomes although
it's not that much stronger, but it is stronger none the less. Battle armor is
trained at the war game room.
3. Electric
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : Your electric skill is your
understanding of electronic hardware.
My Explanation : I have not found a use for electric in the game so far, so I
don't know what it does for sure but I do know it's not needed to win the
game. If you know what electric is used for in this game please e-mail me and
let me know and you will be credited for this information.
4. Gambling
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : The higher your character's gambling
skill, the better his or her knowledge of the rules and odds of the games.
Good gamblers can quickly raise those needed credits for the party.
My Explanation : The gambling skill is pretty straight forward, the higher
your gambling skill the better chance you will win games at the gambling
establishment. Gambling is learned by winning at games in the gambling
establishment, the more you win the more the skill goes up, however when you
lose at games your skill will also fall so it all depends on how well you do
at the games.
5. Golum
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : A special armor used frequently by the
elite police force, golum armor requires special training for proper
functioning. It is said that each suit of golum armor is specifically molded
for it's user.
My Explanation : Golum is the most powerful armor in the game and can only be
used if you have a programmer to unlock it's mysteries.
6. Language
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : Language skill reflects how many
languages your characters can learn and how many accents and dialects they can
understand and imitate.
My Explanation : I have not found a use for language in the game so far, so I
don't know what it does for sure but I do know it's not needed to win the
game. If you know what language is used for in this game please email me and
let me know and you will be credited for this information.
7. Medical
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : With the way people tend to get hurt on
Mars, at least one of your party members should have this skill. Higher
medical skills allow you to purchase and use better healing items, which are
always closer at hand than the hospital.
My Explanation : Medical is a must in this game, at least one person needs to
be trained in medical unless you want to make a trip to the hospital after
almost ever battle. I recommend having at least one notch by every party
member that way you will be able to heal yourself in battle if needed. Also it
is great to have at least one really good medical user to instantly heal a
injured party member if needed in battle and to also carry a medical kit, a
medical kit is unlimited heals and the higher the alphabet letter you buy the
better it heals. But of course you will have to keep climbing in medical to
get the higher kits. Medical is trained at all hospitals.
8. Mechanic
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : The mechanic skill reflects your ability
to understand and repair mechanical items.
My Explanation : I have not found a use for mechanic in the game so far, so I
don't know what it does for sure but I do know it's not needed to win the
game. If you know what mechanic is used for in this game please e-mail me and

9. Mining
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : Since the majority of the population is
employed in the mines, most humans on Mars have some mining skills. Though
their jobs are not very glamorous, miners are important: they can detect
unsafe passages in mines and may even dig you out in the event of a cave-in.
My Explanation : You'll need mining in this game if only one notch, and I
mean you WILL need it to get further in the game. Good miners will be able to
detect cave in's before you get hit by them also mining is needed to use the
mining laser. Mining can be learned at the university.
10. Programming
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : Program is your character's knowledge of
computer programming. A high programming skill means a greater knowledge of
computer systems and how they function. It also means greater expertise at
hacking.
My Explanation : Programming is also a must in this game, it gives you codes
you need to go to the mines, let's you use golum armor, clears your police
record, gives you free speeder access and a couple more things. So be sure to
have at least one good programmer to do all that. Programming can be learned
at the computer center or at the university.
11. Strategy
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : Strategy is the effective use of
military and political forces.
My Explanation : I have not found a use for strategy in the game so far, so I
don't know what it does for sure but I do know it's not needed to win the
game. If you know what strategy is used for in this game please e-mail me and
let me know and you will be credited for this information.
12. Street
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : The street skill reflects how
street-wise your character is. When thugs approach you on the street, the
street skill may help you talk your way out of a fight.
My Explanation : Street is much like administration, it helps you out of
confrontations with enemies and can get you out of a fight. I'm not sure if
this stacks with administration or not, but you probably only need one of
these skills to help you get out of battles.
13. Tactics
The Mars Saga Manual's Explanation : Tactics represents how well your
characters utilize the resources give them.
My Explanation : I have not found a use for Tactics in the game so far, so I
don't know what it does for sure but I do know it's not needed to win the
game. If you know what tactics is used for in this game please e-mail me and
let me know and you will be credited for this information.

F. Cities & Surfaces
===============================================================================
1. Primus
Primus was the first city constructed on Mars. Like all Martian cities, Primus
was built in former mining shafts, which gives it a much more irregular feel
than an Earth city. Primus suffers from some of the lawlessness characteristic
of urban Mars.
Primus is the first city you start off in, you can gather a lot of information
in Primus about what you are suppost to do around mars. Primus is also the
best city to gain experience in, it's a fairly easy going city with difficulty
compared to other cities. Most likely you will be spending a lot of your time
in Primus just cause of the fact you will be pretty familiar where everything
is, like buildings. You won't be spending to much time in other cities, just
to pass by and get things you need in that city and be on your way. Primus
seems to be the center of mars so stay close to it and you will get far in
this game.
2. Progeny
Established after Primus, Progeny nevertheless now has the highest population
rate of the three cities. The police force in Progeny is large and keeps a
vigilant eye over its city. Progeny currently has the lowest crime rate.
There isn't to much about Progeny, there's some info and a few other things to
this city but you will probably spend the least amount of time here than any
other city. Enemies here aren't that much more difficult here, they are pretty
close to Primus but there is a few more enemies in this city that are
different from Primus. There doesn't seem to be much to Progeny so only go for
a few visits and get what you need and get out.
3. Parallax
This newest of the Martian cities is still in the process of being fully
secured for its citizens. Parallax is admittedly a very dangerous place. The
police force is currently combating ruthless mobs and criminals, and there are
even rumors that Nomads are being readmitted into the city to purchase food
and arms, even though this is against the law. Surely Parallax will someday
lose its reputation for being a "haven for thugs and cutthroats."
Parallax is best known for the really difficult enemies that stay around
there, they appear to be the same like muggers, hitmen and things like that
but you will soon see a big difference with there weaponry and armor they now
have. Even the best of fighters will get killed there, take caution in
Parallax and you better be ready to flee a good portion of the battles here.
There isn't a whole lot to Parallax but there is more to it then Progeny,
including secrets about golum armor and more. Do not come to this city unless
you are ready with a full skill in a weapon, some really good armor and
medical heals.
4. Proscenium
Proscenium is currently in the outpost stage. Plans show that the city will be
the largest on Mars and will consist of multiple levels.
Nothing is really known about Proscenium, contact with it was lost and it is
your job to find out what exactly happened to it.
5. Mars Surface
The mars surface can be frustrating, if you wonder off near a city you can
easily get lost and have a hard time finding another city to get back. When
you are on the mars surface and are encountered by a creature you are forced
to attack, although you can flee in manual/tactical combat. The surface comes
with some strong and annoying creatures so be ready to come with medical
heals, don't go to the surface until you are ready and well equipped.
6. The Mines
The enemies in the mines vary from city to city, the harder the city the
harder the enemy. Before getting into the mines you have to get the code from
the computer terminal and to do that you need your programmer to hack into the
system. When you are attacked in the mines you are forced to fight, some of
the enemies you can flee from and some others you can not flee from at all,
you are forced to fight to the end. According to an e-mail at the computer
terminal there is a ancient cave that is discovered in one of the mines, so
you will have to go find the right mine to go to those caves.

O=============================================================================O
| Rookie |
O=============================================================================O
| |
| Comments: Rookies are part of the law enforcement, being the weakest |
| of the law enforcement they are a easy kill(if you choose |
| to fight them, or if you are wanted by the police then they |
| will attack you) early in the game. Do not be mistaking how |
| early, cause they are a little stronger than hoodlums with |
| a better weapon and armor. Rookies are small and orange in |
| color. |

o-----------------------------------------------------------------------------o
O=============================================================================O
| Agent |
O=============================================================================O
| |
| Comments: Agents are part of the law enforcement, being a step up |
| from a rookie, agents aren't that much more difficult than |
| rookies(if you choose to fight them, or if you are wanted |
| by the police then they will attack you). Only minor |
| differences separate the two of them. Agents are big and |
| orange in color. |

o-----------------------------------------------------------------------------o
O=============================================================================O
| Officer |
O=============================================================================O
| |
| Comments: Officers are part of the law enforcement, being the |
| strongest of the law enforcement you may want to skill up a |
| good deal before trying to take a officer down(if you |
| choose to fight them, or if you are wanted by the police |
| then they will attack you). Officers are mid-sized and |

O=============================================================================O
| Hit Man |
O=============================================================================O
| |
| Comments: Hit men are pretty strong, almost as strong as an officer. |
| They will kill you pretty fast if you are not ready for |
| them, and still pose a decent fight when you are skilled up |
| a lot. Hit men are Large and blue in color. |

O=============================================================================O
| Hunter |
O=============================================================================O
| |
| Comments: I would say a Hunter in Primus is the strongest enemy(if |
| you choose to fight them) in the city. They can kill you |
| pretty easily even when your wearing really good armor, so |
| basically you have to kill them with your firepower before |
| they kill you with theirs. Hunters are large and purple in |
| color. |

H. Option Menu
===============================================================================
Option menu is when your out in the city and not in a building and push enter,
it brings up the option menu. This is an important part of the game cause you
can save the game from in here and do all sorts of stuff in this menu. All the
commands listed in that menu are explained here so read up.
1. Continue Adventuring
All this does is close the menu and let's you get back to the game, only
useful when you accidentally hit enter.
2. Inspect A Character
This command allows you to see the stats of your character and allows you to
see what exactly they are carrying as well. It's good for showing you how far
left in a skill bar you need to go and what exactly you have to use in your
inventory.
3. Use An Item
This command is basically only used for healing outside of a battle, and for
when you figure out what you need the mining skill for.
4. Group
a. Exit
This command brings you back to the game instead of back to the option menu.
b. Combat Order
Combat order let's you change around the position of your characters. If you
are unhappy with the position the computer gives you go to this command and it
will show the battlefield with your number of characters in your party, then
it will ask you if you want to change the position of your characters. For two
characters I recommend side by side horizontally, they can shoot in every
direction but one each. For three I recommend side by side vertically, you
seem to be able to shoot in more directions this way. Combat order is a key
part of this game so place your members in what seems to work for you.
c. Sound On/Off
This toggles whether you want sound off or on, sound is the noises that
happens in the game. Having the sound on makes the game more enjoyable so I
recommend keeping it on.
d. Music On/Off
This toggles whether or not you want the game music on, again you should leave
the music on it's a a lot more enjoyable game with it on.
e. Combat Speed
This option let's you speed up how fast the combat takes or allows you to slow
it down, the speed options are 1 - 9, 1 being the slowest and 9 being the
fastest. For the impatient people you want it up near 9 for the people who
enjoy watching a battle in full detail you will want it a lot slower near 1.
f. Save Maps
Save Maps just gives you the option whether to not save any maps, to be
prompted if you want to save a map or if you want it to auto save a map.
5. View Map
This option gives you a view of the map of the city your in, and only as much
of the city you have discovered will be shown. So explore around a lot so you
can get a view of the whole city or where ever you are.
6. Examine Area
This just gives you a view of the ground you are currently walking on, also
you need to use this option to find stuff on the ground when you are over top
of it.
7. Transfer Items
a. Transfer Items
This command allows you to transfer items among your party members or dispose
of useless items you may have.
b. Pool Credits
Pool credits let's you transfer all the credits in your party to one single
member, not likely you will ever need this command though.
c. Distribute Credits
This distributes the credits out evenly among all the members in your party,
very useful in the game.
8. Save A Game
Exactly what it says, you use this command to save your game. There are five
different save slots so five other people can play along with you.
9. Load A Game
Again Exactly what it says, you use this to load your saved games and get back
your adventure.

IV. Hints & Helpful Information
*******************************************************************************
===============================================================================
A. Earning Credits
===============================================================================
1. Looting Armor
This isn't that big of a hint but the best and fastest way to earn
credits(without the gambling establishment trick) is by looting enemy armor.
Weapons are not worth a whole lot so it's best to stick to armor, your first
source of credits will be off hoodlum's because they carry flak jackets worth
around 411 credits depending on your charisma. After taking a bit of those you
will have enough money to skill up a bit to take rookies on, they give up
armor worth around 1500. By this time you should have a decent chunk of
credits, and you can keep doing this to build up your money to where you don't
need to do it anymore and you will be able to easily afford anything.
2. Cheating The Casino
There is a cheat to this game at the gambling establishment, it takes only 5
or 10 minutes to make over a million credits. Save your game in front of a
gambling establishment and enter, play cosmic keno bet one credit and play the
game, when all the numbers come up just copy down all the numbers or just
seven of them because that's the jackpot. Then load your saved game you just
saved and go back to cosmic keno and bet the max which is twenty and pick out
seven of those numbers that showed up last time and it will pick them again
and you will win 140,000 credits with a jackpot. Just keep repeating this till
you have over a million credits and you will be set for the rest of the game.
Out of all the times I have tried this it has worked every time except one
exception, sometimes the double zero doesn't get picked again even though it
was picked before. Other than double zero every other number worked every
single time.
- Jerry Gracias writes in this information for earning credits:
I've read your FAQ from www.Gamewinners.com and thought it was well done. I do
have another way of making money though. I used to only have one guy and go
to a bar to find a medic to hire for party. I'd hire medics because they had
the most starting off money. i believe it was like 1000 or 1500 I cant
remember but they had the highest money, just look for elegently dressed. I
hired them and got into one fight with them, and Pooled credits and then
dropped them off the party. If you can get a full roster with you that's a
lot of money. But since i know of the gambleing cheat I will use that. Just
thought i might give ya something more to add if wanted.
===============================================================================
B. Golum Armor
===============================================================================
Golum armor is the most powerful in the game, and it has a little secret about
how to obtain it. Well first off you have to kill a officer to have the armor,
after that you will need to train someone in programming quite a bit. Then you
will have to go to a computer terminal and hack into the system, it should
have 1 - 9 options if you are far enough in programming to completely get
golum armor. Well you should click on all 9 options just to get everything in
the game like the mine code and all that. After you look at the golum c++ file
and tune file your programmer will be able to use golum. You do not need to
get everyone programming skill to be able to use golum armor.
This is another little hint about golum armor, go to Progeny and go to the
repair shops, offer the clerks some credits and you will find out some info
about other stuff but one clerk will say something like go to the combat
training center in Parallax and tell them gecko sent you. When you go to the
combat training center in Parallax and tell them gecko sent you, the store
clerk will push a button and then golum armor will appear as one of the
training sessions. Then you will be able to teach all the members of your
party all the golum you need.
***** MINES OF TITAN INFORMATION *****
(Golum armor is a little different in Mines of Titan, how to obtain it and
train in it are the same but golum armor in Mines of Titan is more resistant
to fire from handguns, rifles and auto guns but takes more damage from arc
guns and thrown weapons like dynamite and things like that. Other than those
little differences golum armor is the same as in The Mars Saga.)
