Review by Simon
"Why buy just a videogame?"
Don´t you know Commodore 64? Well, I´m sorry, but you are losing one of the best systems ever created. Commodore 64 was released in 1982. A bit old, nowadays, but incredible for its time. I didn´t was born, and I just knew Commodore 64 a few time ago, but I needed to review this. I didn´t believed when I started to play...
Graphic Capability - 10/10
Ok, you should say: ''Hey there are just sixteen colors here!''. But I´ll say: ''Hey, have you ever played in a Spectrum?''. Commodore 64 has just 8 bits, but it´s much better than a Nintendo or a Sega Master System. The graphics are incredible, and when you play Newcomer or Mayhem in Monsterland, you think that these are Super Nintendo games. Just compare Little Computer People in the Commodore 64 with the Spectrum and Amiga Versions.
Sound Capability - 10/10
The music in the games are fantastic for it´s time. Games like Little Computer People and Golden Axe have musics almost perfect. Games like Barbie and Ferrari Formula One have voices as clear as crystal, and, with just 8 bits, even Game Boy loses. And you´ll have a great sound experience.
Gameplay Capability - 10/10
Ok, here is a work for the softwarehouses. But, even with so much keys, the gameplay is very simple. Games like Street Fighter 2 is very much easy to play and you still can use a joystick. You´ll never be disgusted, just if you play a very bad game.
Game Library - 10/10
Can you imagine to play Super Mario Bros., Golden Axe and Ikari Warriors in a same console? Yes, here you can play thousands of classics, such as Shinobi, Donkey Kong, R-Type, After Burner, and very, very much. The game Library is around 2000 games, and even in the year 2001 there are releases. You can also make your own game, if you want.
Peripherals - 10/10
You can play games in Tape, Disk or Cartridge format. Commodore 64 is a home computer, so you can attach printers and even CD-ROM and disk drives. You can run programs like text, sound and image makers. And everything works very very well.
Overall - 10/10
Well, Commodore 64 wasn´t a success here in Brazil, but at least for me, was a great console. I also have a Nintendo 64, so I think that every console wich have a ''64'' in the name is perfect. Sixty four thousands times perfect.
