I. INTRODUCTION
===============================================================================

There are many unique artifacts hidden in Solstheim. Many of them are received
at the same time as other artifacts (like at the end of the game), or are
received in the same way (Snow Armor), so I have put the ones like that
together in groups to make this easier to read. The ones in groups usually
don't have a separate explanation on how to get each one, but an explanation on
how to get them all, at the end of each section.

I listed every enchanted weapon/armor/clothing I could find in Solstheim, and I
also have listed some non-enchanted ones, if they are one-of-a-kind. The
enchanted ones will have a section for 'Enchantment', listing what it is
enchanted with. The non-enchanted ones will have 'Enchanting', listing how much
room for enchanting they can hold.

I have marked most of the Spoilers in this topic, though there may be a few
that I missed. Don't read about how to get the Artifacts from the end of the
game until you are actually at the end, because there are major spoilers in
that section.

This part is copied from my Armor FAQ, but it applies here as well:

The Armor Rating is going to be different depending on your Light Armor, Medium
Armor, and Heavy Armor abilities, but when I recorded each of these, my Light,
Medium, and Heavy Armor skills were all at 50. I used 50 because it is in the
middle. If you want to know what the armor would be at if your skills were at
100, simply double the Armor Rating. This means that when you start a new game,
your skills won’t be very high, so the Armor Rating may be lower, but you can
use this FAQ to compare them to the other armor you have to figure out whether
or not it is better than what you have. Also, if your Light Armor is really
high, but your Heavy Armor is really low, it will appear that all Light Armor
in the game is really good, while all Heavy Armor is really bad. This is not
the case. If you see a piece of Heavy Armor that you want, in order to make it
better, simply pay someone to train your Heavy Armor skill (Or just wear it a
whole lot).

<><><><>
Location
<><><><>

Go to the Bloodskal Barrow, which is North West of Raven Rock. When you enter,
you may notice that it is completely devoid of enemies. Well, go pick up the
sword laying on the platform, and you'll get a Journal Update. All of a sudden,
two Greater Skeleton Champion's and three Draugr's attack you. They aren't any
more difficult than most of the other enemies on Solstheim, but can still be
annoying. Well, I guess it's time to test out your new sword.

The Bloodskal sword isn't attached to any quests in the game, it is just a neat
little sword you can get.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FROSTGORE

Type: Short Blade, One Handed
Chop: 1-10
Slash: 1-15
Thrust: 13-24
Condition: 300
Weight: 10.0
Value: 100
Enchanting: Cast When Strikes:
Frost Damage 10 to 30 points for 30 seconds

<><><><>
Location
<><><><>

Frostgore is located North East of Thormoor's Watch. You should see a very
short river that forks. Go to where the river forks, and you will see it
sitting in the water.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HAAKON'S LUCKY BREAK

Type: Blunt Weapon, Two Handed
Chop: 3-15
Slash: 3-15
Thrust: 3-9
Condition: 270
Weight: 6.4
Value: 860
Enchanting: Cast When Used:
Fortify Luck 1 to 50 points for 30 seconds on Self

<><><><>
Location
<><><><>

Resting at the bottom of Lake Fjalding. You may need some Water Breathing
potions or spells, since it is a little hard to find. Starting in the middle of
the lake, head towards the river mouth that leads South, while staying a little
more towards the Western side.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HELM OF BEAR SCENT

Armor Rating:
Condition: 250
Weight: 4.0 (Medium)
Value: 500
Enchanting: Constant Effect:
Detect Animal 150 feet on Self

<><><><>
Location
<><><><>

Go to Eddard Barrow, which is located almost directly North East of Raven Rock.
Once you travel North East for a little bit, look for a river that starts at
the top of the map, and abruptly ends in the middle. Go directly South, and
maybe a little to the West, of where the river ends. Go inside, and you will
find it inside of a chest.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HELMET OF BEARKIND

Armor Rating:
Condition: 100
Weight: 4.0 (Medium)
Value: 40
Enchanting: Cast When Used:
Hand-to-Hand 10 to 30 points for 10 seconds on Self
Agility 10 to 30 points for 10 seconds on Self
Attack 10 to 30 points for 10 seconds on Self

<><><><>
Location
<><><><>

Go to Gronn Barrow, which is located South West of Lake Fjalding. Once inside,
you will eventually find the Berserker Denmother. Surprisingly, she can put up
a fight. Here are some of her stats:

Berserker Denmother
Level: 80
Health: 495
Magicka: 186
Fatigue: 400

Strength: 100
Intelligence: 93
Willpower: 100
Agility: 100
Speed: 100
Endurance: 100
Luck: 40

Skills:
Hand-to-Hand: 100
Athletics: 100

The rest of the skills aren't that important. She doesn't use a weapon, so if
you can restore your Fatigue, that would be helpful. She shouldn't be too much
of a problem, but if your Fatigue is low, she'll knock you down pretty quick.
Well, once she's out of the way, take the Helmet of Bearkind off of her body.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MANTLE OF WOE

Type: Robe
Weight: 3.0
Value: 10,000
Enchanting: Constant Effect:
Drain Personality 100 points on Self
Weakness to Normal Weapons 20 % on Self
Fortify Maximum Magicka 5.0 % INT on Self
Sun Damage 20 points on Self
Fortify Conjuration 50 points on Self

<><><><>
Location
<><><><>

Go to the Skaal Village, and speak to Lassnr. He will tell you that his son,
Tymvaul, is in the Skaal Village well. He gives you the key to the well, so go
use it (or just look around a little for the back entrance labeled "Rimhull").
Once inside, you will find Tymvaul, and some enemies. Tymvaul won't attack you
right away, but the enemies will.

Go talk to Tymvaul, and find out that an artifact that he found has caused him
to go evil. Remind him of his father's love for him, and he will give you the
Mantle of Woe and tell you that he'll go practice magic somewhere else. Report
this back to his father, who will give you five Snow Bear Pelts.

This robe will make you insanely good with magic, but as you can see, there are
downsides. No one will like you while you have it equipped, you will be weak
against normal weapons, and you will die pretty quickly if you are in the sun.
But if you use a Resist Magicka spell when you put it on, you can get rid of
these harmful side effects, except the Sun Damage. Just use it at night or in
caves.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NORDIC AXE OF PARALYSIS

Type: Axe, One Handed
Chop: 8-42
Slash: 8-28
Thrust: 3-8
Condition: 2,000
Weight: 32.0
Value: 2,000
Enchanting: Cast When Strikes:
            Paralyze for 10 seconds

<><><><>
Location
<><><><>

Worn by the people found in the Gandrung Caverns, just North East of Fort
Frostmoth. You will end up going there during one of the first missions in the
main quest.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NORDIC SILVER BATTLEAXE

Type: Axe, Two Handed
Chop: 25-45
Slash: 20-30
Thrust: 2-5
Condition: 1,400
Weight: 22.0
Value: 800
Enchantment: Constant Effect:
Fortify Attack 10 points on Self
Fortify Axe 10 points on Self
Resist Common Disease 75 % on Self

<><><><>
Location

I've received several emails about this one. Some claim that Tharsten Heart-
Fang wears it when you first see him in the Skaal Village. I checked, and he
seems to always wear the axe that he wears at the end of the game (see:
Acquired At The End Of Bloodmoon section). He may only equip it for a very
short section of the game, and several people claim to have received it without
cheating. If anyone knows where this specific axe (with the specific
enchantments listed) is located, any help would be appreciated.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NORDIC SILVER LONGSWORD

Type: Long Blade, One Handed
Chop: 5-30
Slash: 5-25
Thrust: 5-25
Condition: 850
Weight: 20.0
Value: 1,200
Enchanting: Cast When Strikes
            Frost Damage 15 points

<><><><>
Location
<><><><>

Worn by the Skaal Trackers.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RAMMEKALD

Type: Blunt Weapon, Two Handed
Chop: 1-32
Slash: 1-27
Thrust: 1-2
Condition: 9,000
Weight: 32.0
Value: 300
Enchanting: Cast When Strikes:
Frost Damage 1 to 4 points
            Paralyze for 10 seconds

<><><><>
Location
<><><><>

First, look for Kolfinna, who is located in, conveniently enough, Kolfinna's
Dwelling. It is a cave along the river, and is North and a little bit East of
Fort Frostmoth. To make things easier, just travel up the river, and look on
the West side for a cave. Once you get there, Kolfinna will inform you of a
Nord named Sigvatr The Strong, who killed her husband. He has some sort of
jewel that belongs to Kolfinna, and she wants it back.

Sigvatr is located on the Western side of the next river over. So travel North
until you almost reach Lake Fjalding, and start heading West. Cross the river,
and look around for a Nord. Once you find him, go talk to him. If you raise his
Disposition really high, he will give you the jewel, "Pinetear", but then you
don't get Rammekald. To get Rammekald, just kill him instead. The rewards for
this mission aren't any worse if you kill him, since Kolfinna is only worried
about getting her Pinetear back.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SEASPLITTER

Type: Long Blade, One Handed
Chop: 2-20
Slash: 1-18
Thrust: 2-6
Condition: 700
Weight: 15.0
Value: 220
Enchanting: Cast When Strikes:
Demoralize Creature 1 to 10 points for 30 seconds

<><><><>
Location
<><><><>

Go to Himmelhost Barrow, located on the South Eastern corner of Solstheim. The
Skeleton Pirate Captain, located within, uses the Seasplitter. He also has a
note with a hint about a treasure that has been hidden on the island for
hundreds of years. If you can manage to find it, you will find some gems, a few
un-enchanted rings and amulets, and some money.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SOLVISTAPP

Type: Long Blade, One Handed
Chop: 1-20
Slash: 1-20
Thrust: 1-20
Condition: 800
Weight: 15.0
Value: 225
Enchanting: Cast When Used:
Frost Shield 3 points for 10 seconds on Self

<><><><>
Location
<><><><>

Find Ingmar standing outside of Valbrandr Barrow, about halfway between Thirsk
and Fort Frostmoth. He is holding the Solvistapp, and the reward for this
mission is pretty crappy, so if you want to kill him, go for it. If you want to
complete the mission, read on.

Ingmar will tell you that he needs to kill the Draugr of Valbrandr Barrow to
proof himself to the Skaal. He wants your help, but he wants to be able to say
that he is the one that killed the Draugr. So go inside with him, and let the
Draugr attack you, instead of Ingmar. It helps to have you and Ingmar on
opposite sides of the Draugr. Do not attack it, or use any magic on it, or you
will not receive a reward.

Once Ingmar kills the beast, he will allow you to take anything in the barrow,
and will tell you to meet up with him at the Skaal Village. When you get to his
house, he will reward you with the Belt of Orc's Strength, which temporarily
raises your Strength.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STAFF OF CARNAL CHANNELING

Type: Blunt Weapon, Two Handed
Chop: 2-16
Slash: 3-16
Thrust: 1-10
Condition: 900
Weight: 16.0
Value: 7,000
Enchanting: Cast When Used:
Summon Bonewalker for 30 seconds on Self
Damage Health 1 to 5 points for 30 seconds on Self

<><><><>
Location
<><><><>

Go to Skygge Barrow, which is located just past the bridge (there's only one
bridge) that crosses the river that runs North of Lake Fjalding. Go all the way
to where the river meets the ocean, and you'll see the cave near the Eastern
shore of the river.

Once inside, go to the end of the passageway to find the Necromancer with the
Staff of Carnal Channeling. Necromancers are evil, so go ahead and kill her.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STORMFANG

Type: Long Blade, Two Handed
Chop: 1-30
Slash: 1-25
Thrust: 1-18
Condition: 1,600
Weight: 30.0
Value: 10,000
Enchanting: Cast When Strikes:
Shock Damage 1 to 25 points

<><><><>
Location
<><><><>

Go North-North West of Fort Frostmoth, until you find Brodir Grove, which is
three large stones in a circle. Near there is Ulfgar's Dwelling. Talk to him to
find out that he and his friends attempted to go to Sovngarde a while ago, and
he wants your help to get there. Well, if you go to Thirsk, you will notice
that a person upstairs has a book entitled "Sovngarde, A Reexamination". Read
it to find out a little about this mysterious place.

With your newfound information, go back to Ulfgar, and tell him about the book.
He realizes that in order to get to Sovngarde, he must die in combat, and since
you are the nearest person, you must kill him. But he wants it to be an
honorable death, so he won't go easy on you. He uses the Stormfang, so once you
finish him off, you will have a new weapon. With his dying breath, he will tell
you to go outside to Brodir Grove, where you will get an extra surprise.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHITEWALKER

Type: Robe
Weight: 3.0
Value: 20
Enchanting: Constant Effect:
            Chameleon 50 % on Self
Frost Damage 5 to 20 points on Self
Weakness to Frost 5 to 10 % on Self
Drain Health 5 to 10 points on Self

<><><><>
Location
<><><><>

Go to Benkongerike Barrow, which is located North East of Castle Karstaag.
Travel around a little inside, and you will notice a dead person. Take the
Whitewalker off of her body (and you'll see why she died), and read her book.
This isn't that great of a robe, but it's pretty funny. Also, there are ways to
negate the bad effects, by using a Magicka Resistance spell right when you put
it on.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WINTERWOUND DAGGER

Type: Short Blade, One Handed
Chop: 5-10
Slash: 5-10
Thrust: 10-20

*Slight Spoilers*

If you go to Thirsk after the fire appears on Lake Fjalding (which happens
during the main quest), you will notice that there has been an attack. Before
you do anything, check the body of Skjoldr Wolf-Runner, to get the Paws of the
Wolf-Runner. Then, go talk to Svenja Snow-Song, and she will send you after the
Udyrfrykte, the monster who attacked the Mead Hall. He is in a little cave
close to Thirsk, along the shore of Lake Fjalding. Go in, and kill the
Udyrfrykte. Here are some stats:

The Udyrfrykte
Level: 11
Health: 1,000
Fatigue: 1,000

Skills
Strength: 150
Intelligence: 50
Willpower: 80
Agility: 60
Speed: 65
Endurance: 100
Luck: 50

His level is really low, but he is powerful, and has a lot of Health. His
"weapon" is the Severed Nord Leg. It isn't too powerful, but it's good for a
laugh. He is very resistant to magic, however. Also, make sure you pick up that
"weapon" once he is dead, since it is one of a kind, to say the least. And take
his Heart, since you'll need to bring that back to Svenja. Once you do that,
she will send you to Hrothmund's Barrow, so that you can become the new
Chieftain of Thirsk.

Hrothmund's Barrow is located South and slightly West of Castle Karstaag. Once
you get there, he will ask you the name of the Werewolf that killed him. You
can find out the answer by talking to Brynjolfr (who is just outside of Thirsk)
about Snow Wolves. If you want to figure it out yourself, scroll past the word
that is surrounded by the word 'spoilers'. If you want to know now, the answer
is:

*SPOILERS*SPOILERS*SPOILERS*
*SPOILERS*Ondjage*SPOILERS*
*END SPOILERS*END SPOILERS*

Once inside, make sure to grab the Amulet of Infectious Charm (used in another
quest), which is lying next to Hrothmund's Axe. Then, check out the huge axe
(to talk to Hrothmund), and he will declare you worthy of being Chieftain of
Thirsk. Head back to Thirsk, and Svenja will declare you to be the new
Chieftain. You will now have your very own room. Look in the room to find the
Clanbringer.

If you want to start the mission for finding the Amulet of Infectious Charm, go
almost directly South of Castle Karstaag for a little while, to find a crashed
airship, and the body of the captain. Take the captain's journal, and go to
Ald-Ruhn. Standing just outside of the Mage's Guild is Louis Beauchamp, who
funded the airship expedition, and would probably like to know that it crashed.
After talking to him for a while, he will send you after the Amulet of
Infectious Charm, which you should already have. Don't do this mission if you
want to keep it, because it ends with you giving him the Amulet.

*End Slight Spoilers*

SNOW BEAR BOOTS

<><><><>
Location

Go to Jolgeirr Barrow, which is almost directly South of the crashed airship.
If you don't know where that is, start at Raven Rock, and go North and slightly
East, staying directly in between the two rivers. Jolgeirr Barrow is almost in
the dead center of those two rivers.

Go inside, and the Snow Prince's Ancient Steel Armor and Spear are laid out in
front of you. If you want to know the story of the Snow Prince, read the book
that is found next to the armor. The armor isn't very good, but the Spear of
the Snow Prince is pretty good.

You may notice that the Helm and Tower Shield are missing. To get the Helm,
find the dead body at the bottom of Lake Fjalding, towards the Eastern side,
and read the note on the corpse. It will tell you about "Angria", who stole the
Helm. The Helm is located in Frykte, which you can get to by going East and a
little South of Castle Karstaag. Angria's corpse is stuck to the ceiling, so
jump or levitate up to the corpse, and retrieve the Ancient Steel Helm.

As far as I know, the Ancient Steel Tower Shield isn't found anywhere in the
game, outside of the Construction Set.
