PERMISSION FROM ME SO EMAIL ME TO DO SO.
NOTE: If you don't have the expansion packs, when you decide to email me, you
should have "The Sims 2 - Base Game" as topic so I know what it is
      about.
NOTE: If you see glitches in your game, go to www.thesims2.ea.com and download
the latest patch for your game. This fixes up A LOT, if not ALL the bugs
in the base game and the glitches found in the expansion packs.

[1] Introduction

This is just the start of the game. This chapter will describe the nature of
the game and the difference between the old Sims 1 and the new Sims 2.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[1.01] Introduction to the Game

The Sims 2 is a squeal to one of the most popular games out, The Sims. This
game is produced by Maxis and is distributed by Electronics Art (I Think). The
Sims 2 is basically a virtual (not as realistic) simulation of life, where you
play god over your "Sims". You buy them items such as furniture and plants,
buy new clothing, build house and such, and so forth. Its great fun, but it is
rated M15+ in the shops (In Australia, it is anyway). It is targeted to
everyone who can purchase this game, and that means everyone.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[1.02] Difference between The Sims 1 and The Sims 2

Players of The Sims 1 should see that I'm talking from the original version
of The Sims 1 and that I'm talking about the one released, not the one with
any or all the expansion packs. This is a large range and includes:
                   _
* Livin Large       |
* House Party       |
* Hot Date          |
* Vacation          | Great Stuff
* Unleashed         |
* Makin Magic       |
* Superstar        _|

* Online

I'm doing this so that people who get to play The Sims 1 without any of
the expansion packs will understand my mumbo jumbo.

Differences include:

* The telephone does not give out money randomly and you don't get weird calls
* You can talk to computer played players (NPC's) like the postie
* More items (well, duh!)
* Cleaning skill
* Age groups
* Kicked out some old jobs (entertainment)
* Added of new jobs (slacker, cooking)
* Many more social interactions
* Community lots
* Neighbourhoods
* Aspirations and Aspiration Points
* Rewards
* Chance Cards
* Meditate and Yoga
* New Foods
* Grim Reaper
* Interests
* Environment Bar
* Call Work and call a SICKIE

[1.03] Version History

Version 0.1 [30/12/04]
Started this FAQ, have not submitted it to GamesFAQ yet. Only a little bit of
work. Started and finished the basics. Finished Chapter 1 through to 4

Version 0.2 [1/1/05]
Ok, New Year Update. The FAQ hasn't been submitted to anyone yet except to
myself. My Sims got into a private school and so I will report on this. Finish
Chapter 6 - 8. Start Chapter 9.

Version 0.3 [3/1/05]
Added a new Chapter 5 [Beginning] and finished Chapter 9, 10, 11 and Chapter
12. Finally finish Chapter 13. Still haven't submitted FAQ, I'll do it in due
course, in other words, when I freakin feel like it. Table of Contents
revamped.

Note, The coming soon sign is to know that I'm working on it. I can't do
everything at once so don't be surprised if you see the coming soon sign and
then see something there further down as I'm working on it.

Version 0.4 [4/1/05]
Net is off for a while so the will be not submission or update for a while.
Net is so slow that it will take a while. Anyway, I've started on the
Headmaster Section, Interest Section. I've submitted and it is there. If you
are not happy, too bad.

Version 0.5 [6/1/05]
I've started on the Q&A section and it is up and running. Now you can submit
your Questions and they will be placed there. Non-Killing Disasters have been
finished. Code section is up and running. Doing the Athletic Career for Adults
and the glitches are up. The athletic job summary for adults is up.

Version 0.6 [7/1/05]
I have given Neoseeker permission to host this FAQ. Science career tracks are
up and running and I've added a new section

Version 0.7 [8/1/05]
Received massive loads of information about private schooling and jobs for
your young ones. Add little bit to the introduction.

Version 0.8 [9/1/05]
Written another walkthrough under chapter 5. Added a hack question in Q&A.
Wrote the entire section about killing disasters. Started Grim Reaper Section
after submitting an update.

Version 0.9 [10/1/05]
The Grim Reaper section is finally finished.

Version 1.0 [11/1/05]
Wow! That's 10 updates down the drain. Added some stuff according to what I've
been e-mailed. Doing the Criminal Section of the Teenager jobs. Put up some
chance cards.

Version 1.1 [12/1/05]
Oh man, its so hot, I can't work. Being stuck in the southern end of the world
is hot, even more so if your in Australia. Stupid temps get up to about 30 to
40 degrees often so I really can't be bothered to update a lot. Too lazy too.
In short, my future updates will be small for the time being. Okay, I'll do
some jobs and such. Ahh, the heat is killing me. Military for Adults done.

Version 1.2 [14/1/05]
Thou shall not sweat, kinda impossible at the moment. Okay, some more school
events are in place, some jobs and chances cards are added. New section under
chapter 25. Job rewards are in.

Version 1.3 [15/1/05]
Updated some parts under the Aspiration section. Culinary Job for adults done
at last. Size is over 300kb mark. Wahoo! New Walkthrough, corrected some typos
and fixed the broken items section. Military section for teenagers done. Did
the Floor Interactions. Miscellaneous section started and the bills are done.
40 Table of Contents Chapters are in Place. Some of the telephone chapter is
done.

Version 1.4 [18/1/05]
Okay, a minor update but an update all the same. Stuff on some Job rewards,
school event and a chance card. Not much, but I'm too lazy otherwise.

Version 1.5 [22/1/05]
Its been a while since I updated. Added some more job rewards, the community
lot furniture have names, novelist section completed, added more on telephone.

Version 1.6 [23/1/05]
Criminal for Adults have been completed. Some more on the telephone, new
section added. Telephone section done.

Version 1.7 [1/2/05]
Been a while now. Busy writing another easy FAQ so I'll won't be updating this
guide for a short while.

Version 1.8 [22/2/05]
Long time since last update. That's because I'm too busy play Ragnarok which
is kind of a good RPG or MMORPG to be precise. Okay, added another comment
about the golf thingy, fixed up some aspirations, added some new ones, did
some stuff on the computer (Sim Computer you twit). Finished off some
miscellaneous stuff.

Version 1.9 [2/3/05]
Wow, The Sims 2 University is released! I won't buy it until I finish this
FAQ. Anyway, fixed a typo, started chapter 32. Finished Chapter 30. Added some
more bugs and questions. Finished Chapter 36.

Version 2.0 [9/3/05]
Wow, 20 updates now, this is amazing. Well, I get the University EP soon and
rumours say that there is another Expansion Pack called Nightlife coming out
soon. It involves vampires and other scary things. I hope it would be
released in Halloween, seeing that it is so scary. NOT! Added another bug, for
all you bug people out there. Memories section up and running. Over the 350kb
more. Yahoo!

Version 2.1 [10/3/05]
I bought University Expansion pack so I'll finish updating this guide as soon
as possible as I'll possibly write a FAQ for University. The objects sections
have been killed as it would take forever to finish. And the EP will add new
objects so it will confuse it XD. Teenager Jobs complete. Some Chance Cards
added.

Version 2.2 [11/3/05]
Wow, nearly finished and gotta start on the University Expansion Pack. Nearly
finished on the jobs. All the known chance cards completed. Finished the jobs
sections. Only minor chapters till complete.

Version 2.3 [27/4/05]
This guide is basically final and only minor updates will be added.

Version 2.4 [3/5/05]
Minor Update, completed most of the lacking material.

Version 2.5 [5/5/05]
Added another chance card. Some more misc stuff.

Version 2.6 [10/5/05]
Fixed some more minor stuff.

Some even more stuff

Version 3.0 [22/7/05]
Tiny updates like uniform.

Version 3.1 [4/8/05]
Due to a breach in copyright laws, the copyright section is now foolproof,
unless you live in a poor country where you cannot commit fraud for selling
guides. All criminals beware.

Version 3.2 [5/8/05]
Two chance cards and some uniforms, that's all.

Version 3.3 [14/8/05]

Update on Chance Cards and stuff, improved layout slightly.

Version 4.1 [4/5/06]
Another update.

Version 4.2 [11/9/06]
Pays tribute to the 911 victims. Another update though it may be a bit
delayed.

All the Politic Chance Cards, as well as their respective odds are up. Added
some Teen chance cards.

Version 4.8 [6/1/08]
Medicine Chance Cards.

Version 4.9 [19/2/08]
Business and Athletic Chance Cards as well as their respective teen cards are
up. Excess time has lead to the Law Enforcement being up as well.

Version 5.0 [20/2/08]
All criminal and slacker chance cards are complete, and ALL the teen chance
cards are done, all that remains to do is to finish the remaining Culinary and
Science chance cards, which means the guide will be fully complete in the next
update.

Version 5.1 [24/2/08]
The final update for this guide, and it is finally complete, after more than
3 years of work. Its the end of an era.

[2] Getting Started

This is the basic chapter of the FAQ. It explains how to start a family and
where you choose to live and work, and in the end, DIE!!!!! It is here that
you learn the basics of the game and how to start it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2.01] Neighbourhood

The Sims 2 start you off with 3 pre-made neighbourhoods and the option to
create you own neighbourhoods. The 3 pre-made neighbourhoods have their own
story and I'll start with them.

Note that the story is directly from the game and is not edited in any way.

***************
*Pleasantview*
***************

"A lot has happened in 25 years! Mortimer Goth made his fortune, the Pleasants
put down roots, and a new generation of Sims was born. But the peaceful, happy
existence is in jeopardy when some new arrivals to Pleasantview start stirring
up trouble, creating rivalries and tensions for all the families in the
neighborhood. Can anything be done to restore the peace to sleepy, idyllic
Pleasantview?

Cassandra is ready to start a family of her own, but can she tame the town
Casssanova? And can Mortimer bounce back after the disappearance of his wife
Bella?

Bella's disappearance? And is there interest in Mortimer physical ... or
fiscal?

Who is Don Lothario? Is his engagement to Cassandra Goth genuine? And what
about the rumor that her mother, Bella, was last seen scaling the deck of his
condo?

Brandi was left to raise two boys alone following her husband's suspicious
pool ladder accident. With Dustin acting out, can Brandi teach young Beau to
make the right choices in life?

On the surface, Daniel and Mary-Sue Pleasant seem to have the perfect life,
but is their love a flimsy facade? And can Angela and Lilith make the right
choices when it comes to love?

Darren is pursuing his dream of being an artist, while his son Dirk hits the
books. And Darren may have found his muse, but will his creativity be enough
to win Cassandra's affection?"

There are 6 living families in Pleasantview. They are:

Pleasant

Lothario
Broke

There are 2 that are waiting to be moved in. They are:

nothing is what it seems.

In search of truth and mystery, the three Curious brothers, Pascal, Vidcund

roles as cosmic parents?

After a fruitful career, Pollination Technician 9 has retired to his favorite
planet. But can his son Johnny make friends and fit in, or is this family just
to strange for Strangetown.

What experiments are the highly secretive and less than neighborly Loki and
Circe Beaker performing on poor Nervous Subject? Will this secrecy affect
Circe's career ambitions?

Tank has always lived under the hard thumb of his father, General Buzz Grunt.
In this domesticated boot camp, can Tank prove his worth to this demanding

That is the end of the 3 pre-made stories. You can create your own
neighbourhood. All you have to do is to select Create Your Own Neighbourhood
option and choose an area. Then you can choose a setting, lush (green) or
desert setting. If you are not happy with your selection, you can make your
own neighbourhood. You need SimCity 4 (Not sure if you need Rush Hour or Not)
and got to a region. Enter one and make a basic outline of one. Then you
import the sc4 file from you games folder into the Neighbourhood folder under
My Documents.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2.02] Create Your Own Sim

Lets start with the basics. Click on Create a Family (a family with a plus
sign on it) on the neighbourhood screen. Here are the basic options

you like. Don't forget the surname box at the bottom to finish the name.

                                     ***
Once the basics have been set up, you can move onto the Body! Yay! Body
options allow to configure what your Sims will look like in the end. Its a
long list, so lets start
                                     ***

Head
You can change the shape of your Sim's Head. Theses heads will depend on your
chosen skin colour, age and gender

Hair Style and Colour
This options change the hair style and hair colour of your Sim. There are
several styles to choose from, including hats like a VIKING HORN HAT. HAHAHA,
dress your Sim like a Viking! HAHAHAHAHA. Where was I? Oh yes, the hair. You
can change the hair colour to red, black, etc. Next to the red option, there
will be an icon which lets you use hair styles downloaded of the internet. Or
made using the Sims Body Shop (separate program installed when you install
the Sims 2)

Face
You can change the face to your liking. You can make the Sims look like a
normal person, ET like, deformed like a monkey (no offence to be taken here)
or so ugly so that mirrors will break when they see him, scare the living
daylights out of people so see him or like the Grim Reaper. With the slider,
you can change the facial height of your Sim.

Brow
You change the eyebrow of your Sim. Choose the base option and change
according to your taste. You can change the thickness of the brows till you
are happy.

Eyes
Like above, you choose a base and customise accordingly. You can change the
eye colour to your own taste.

Mouth
You can get a big mouth, small mouth or your average size mouth. The sliders
here control width, size and shape. (Wanna making that long mouth painting
you've been seeing so often?)

Chin
Like your weird mouth, you can change the chin. Choose a base like normal,
then fiddle around till you are happy

                                     ***
When you are done with the facial expression, you can place makeup!!!
                                     ***

Blush
Give it a brush with some blush. Choose from the several colours available.
Both males and females can use this.

Eyeliner
Is your Sim a Goth? Give it the black treatment. Both males and females can
use this.

Eye Shadow
How deep will the colour array have for your Sim? You want a male who wants to
be a female? Give him the shadow! Wanna a dirty slut for a wife? Place the
eye shadow till its just like TV! Males and females can both use this.

Lipstick
Want red lips? Want black lips? Now you can with the lipstick!?! OMG !?! Both
males (snigger) and females can use this.

                                     ***
After the makeup, you can choose some accessories to go along with your Sim
                                     ***

Costume Makeup
This allows you to add some face painting to your Sim. There are several
schemes for you to choose from. My favourite (being Warfreak) is the military
one. Both males and females can use this.

Glasses
Want a nerdy figure in your family? Bored and want to make someone in your
family a pointdexter? Then give them glasses. The Sims 2 glasses range from
you typical sunnies to the old, boring, dull, traditional reading glasses.
Both males and females can wear these fab products.

Beard or Moustache
Give your Sim that unique look. Give him a moustache to look like Saddam
Hussein (infidel!) or Mario (the plumber) or a beard to be like a biker
(rebel!) or good old Santa! Hey, males only!

Stubble
Used in conjunction with the beard/moustache, your Sim can have a stubble.
Not a moustache, not a beard, just enough to show it out. This is a males
only option.

                                     ***
After the face, you can choose your Sim's clothing
                                     ***

Everyday Outfit
You can mix and match your everyday outfit from the large range of tops and
pants here or select a pre-made suit.

Formal Outfit
Choose what formalwear your Sim will have. You will wear it to the Wedding
Party if you make one.

Undies
Choose what lingerie your Sim will wear to bed

PJ's
This is what your Sim will wear instead of undies to bed

Swimwear
Your Sim will swim in this outfit. If this go into a hot tub, they will also
wear this outfit as well

Athletic Outfit
This is what your Sim wear when on an exercise machine or meditating.

After this you will choose your Aspiration and Personality. This will be
explained later in Chapter 3, Aspirations will be explained later on in this
FAQ. Then you choose your family tree. You choose who your Sims have relations
with. If you have a male and a female adult in the family, you will be able to
have a baby. The baby will look like its parents. Click the pacifier icon till
you have the baby you want.

The star friends and enemies are just weird.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[3.02] Characteristics

When you design a character, you assign points to give them traits. The traits
are Neat, Outgoing, Nice, Playful and Active. If you choose a star sign from
the selection, you get the assigned traits automatically. You can assign
yourself if you want to.

Note that the description between the quotation marks are from the game.

*************
*Sloppy/Neat*
*************

Sloppy Sims are the ones that are dirty. They eat like pigs, refuse to flush
the toilet, won't clean up, etc. Neat sims are the ones that have no problem
with that kind of stuff.

Sloppy
"With their constant disregard of cleanliness and hygiene, sloppy Sims are
content to simply "be." They tend to enjoy just about anything that doesn't
require planning or cleaning up on their part."

Neat
"Tidy Sims typically enjoy cleaning up the house or grooming themselves in
front of the mirror. There's always something to be done around the house
and they'll more often than not be found doing it; great for a house, but it
can tire Sims out."

Notes about Neat Sims

* Cleaning Skill increases faster than normal Sloppy Sims
* Neat Sims gain fun when cleaning things (weird)
* Neat Sims will clean the high chair when the Sim has taken the baby away
* If Free Will is on, if there is a puddle, they will clean it up
* Will never automatically eat spoiled food
* Children will pack up toys after use

Notes about Sloppy Sims

* Hygiene decreases faster than neat Sims
* Sloppy Sims stuff food in their mouth, which might lower relationship points
if anyone is near them (sitting at the same table)
* Sloppy Sims don't have fun when told to clean things
* May eat from trash, for food that have files around it if their hunger is
very low (Free Will must be turned on in order to do this)
* Leave toys around if they are finished with them, they don't put it back
* They will make cleanable items such as showers and toilets more dirty
  quicker than neat Sims
* Automatically eats spoiled food more often
* Gives themselves a spongebath in the sink when there is no shower or bath to
  wash themselves
* Can lick plates clean by clicking on the other rim of the plate
* May pee in the shower

**************
*Shy/Outgoing*
**************

Shy Sims are ones that do not like big parties and stay away from group
action. The outgoing sims are the ones that crave the social attention and
adore being around people.

Shy
"Introspective and quiet, shy sims often think about the world around them and
write in their diaries rather than actually interact with anyone. It may be
harder to break out of their shells, but if shy Sims take the time to get to
know others, they'll be delighted by the social world awaiting them."

Outgoing
"Outgoing Sims are likely to jump headfirst into any situation. Charm and
confidence are their best traits and when they're in a friendly mood, they
enjoy group activities most of all. Keep an eye on these characters, though;
outgoing Sims can be too brash, and others aren't always so impressed."

Notes about Shy Sims

* Social bar takes a long time to decrease
* If they are in the same room with a fight going on, the shy Sim will run
* Shy Sims will not jump off the diving board
* Solo dances are a bit more reserved
* Have several special animations for some racy interactions

Notes about Outgoing Sims

* Social bar decreases fast
* With 8 or more outgoing points, the Sim will enter hot tubs naked
* Outgoing Sims talk with garden objects (gnome) if Free Will is on.
* Males Sims with Outgoing of 9+ points will pee in the bushes if need be
* Children with high outgoing are more likely to bring a friend home
* Higher chance of party success if started with outgoing Sim
* Sometimes Naked Sims may forget to dress in special events such as fire
* Have more animated conservations
* Will visit Sims if they are spied upon

*************
*Lazy/Active*
*************

Lazy Sims spend more time in front of the television than anyone else.
Entertainment that require less energy like playing games on the computer
or watching TV. Active sims gain more fun by doing harder activities, like
swimming.

Lazy
"Lazy Sims have been known to veg out on the couch for hours on end, so
naturally, they don't need much sleep to sustain their constant lazying. They
still enjoy socializing with other Sims and can be persuaded to get out of the
house once in a while."

Active
"Active Sims are almost always on the move but need a lot of food and sleep to
keep up with their hectic pace. They're apt to be the happiest while breaking
a sweat, an exhausting idea to most other Sims. An active Sim will usually get
more enjoyment from watching sports on TV than reading a book."

Notes on Lazy Sims
* Can't run all the time, only if it is far away
* Get a snack from the fridge, even if hunger is at max (Free Will is on)
* Refuse to put books away
* Energy and Hunger decrease slowly
* Get fat a lot faster
* Always turn on the TV / Computer when fun is low (Free Will enabled)
* Random chance on turning off the alarm clock and going back to sleep
* Requires more sleep to fill bar
* Requires less food to fill bar

Notes on Active Sims
* Runs to every place
* Energy and Hunger drains faster
* Will swim if fun is low (Free Will enabled)
* Easier to get fit
* Needs less sleep to fill bar

*****************
*Serious/Playful*
*****************
Serious Sims don't play to play much, (Social Interaction), they take jokes
seriously. Playful Sims is the reverse.

Serious
"Quiet, thoughtful Sims are more inclined to enjoy logic puzzles and good
conversations, but they don't respond too well to chaos or silly behaviour.
Repairing broken items or working on an important project can keep serious
Sims content."

Playful
"Playful Sims are more likely to find entertainment and fun in the world
around them; they tend to be more curious than any other Sim. They may have a
lighthearted nature, but they can wear themselves out with their antics, as
well as get on their fellow Sim's nerves."

Notes about Serious Sims

* Read the newspaper (If Free Will is on)
* Fun decreases slowly
* Reading a book or doing a crossword gives them more fun
* Increase Logic Skill the fastest

Notes about Playful Sims
* Fun decreases quickly
* Playing games increase fun faster
* If the Sim has Playful Points of 6+, they will also be able to skip to where
they are going (you have to choose that)
* Can play with garden gnomes
* Can play in the hot tub

**************
*Grouchy/Nice*
**************
Grouchy Sims have a bad time making friends and socially interacting with
other Sims. Of course, nice Sims have no problem with this.

Grouchy
"Grouchy Sims, despite their sour mood, can still be social creatures. They'll
probably enjoy teasing a Sim as much as telling a joke. They don't seem to
mind when other Sims overreact and they like playing a games as much as anyone
else, but be warned: they tend to be sore losers."

Nice
"Encouraging and generous, nice Sims tend to be easy to get along with and
very positive. They'll listen to what other Sims have to say whether it's
interesting or not and clean up after dirty roommates. If they don't watch out
though, other Sims may take advantage of their good nature."

Notes about Grouchy Sims

* If the interaction "Argue" is used against another Sim, the grouchy Sim will
most likely gain Social from it.
* If the Grouchy Sims 4 point or less in the nice trait, they might knock over
your garbage bin in a bad mood or steal a garden gnome if they are in a foul
mood (what stingy people). Very mean Sims will do this even when the owner
  is nearby
* With Free Will on, the Grouchy Sim might start a fight (more likely) with a
  Sim they hate
* Grouchy Sims with 4 points or less in the nice trait will tend to spy on
people with the telescope if Free Will is enabled.
* Grouchy Sims taunt Sims who are playing a game
* Can cheat in Chess or Darts by clicking on the board

Notes about Nice Sims

* Less likely to start a fight (If Free Will is enabled)
* Lose Social and relationship points if they use or be used in the social
  interaction "Argue and Fight"
* Nice Sims cheer on other Sims playing a game

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[4] Neighbourhood

The neighbourhood is where your Sims and other Sims live, work and shop. This
chapter will explain how to add objects and what residential and community
are.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[4.01] Adding Decorations

When you play your own neighbourhood, it looks kind of empty. You can add
decorations to your neighbourhood to brighten it up. This include vegetation
such as tree and shrubs. You can also add things like water towers, research
sites, etc. You can add effects such as boats on the water (if there is water)
balloons and lots of other objects.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[4.02] Residential Lots

As the name implies, residential lots are lots where your Sims live. You can
either choose a pre-made home or a block of empty land. If you choose the
block of land, be sure to name it and click residential lot. All lots,
pre-made and empty lots must be placed next to a road (so cars and buses can
pick your Sims up.) After that, move your Sims in!

If you have a block of bare land, you can use build mode to make a house.
However, building a house is harder than it seems and can cost a lot of money.
Only use this option if you want you Sims to live on bare land (for some
unknown reason) or you have a lot of Simoleons (Sim Money) around the quarter
of a million mark for a luxary home. However, you don't need that much if you
plan to live cheap, which is relatively cheap. You can have a nice 2X2 home,
with the bare basics, for under 20,000 Simoleons, depending on what you buy.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[4.03] Community Lots

Community Lots are lots that a community can meet up in, which is also implied
by the name. They lots are where your own Sims will interact with other Sims
you have created or just walker bys (Sims that are generated and played by
your computer.) You can buy food, clothes, games and magazines for your Sims
along with other things like BBQ's.

You can build your own community lot by getting a block of bare land and
making it a community lot. You can build to whatever you want as there is no
money limit on this (Thank God, imagine that you have a limit!) Build it to
your imagination, I mean you can build it like your corner shop if you really
wanted to, your imagination is your limit.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[5] Walkthroughs

This chapter is to help you with various things. This helps to start off, earn
money, etc.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[5.01] Help to Start Off

Okay, you have your family and all your need is a lot. Get a house (from the
house and lots bin) and slap it down. Buy the house if it is about §10000.
Then move your Sims in.

When you move in, there will be some items for you already. Go to buy mode
and make sure that you have:

1 Fridge
X Beds where X is the number of Sims (except toddlers)
1 Microwave or Oven
1 TV
1 Table with X Chairs where X is the number of Sims (except toddlers)
1 Crib and Changing Table (Only if you have a toddler)
A telephone
1 Toilet
1 Shower
Some Paintings (For Environment if you really care)
Some Toys
Bookshelf

When you finish buying that, you will be low on money. Get your adult Sims to
look in the newspaper. Find the highest paying job (Military or Politics) and
get in there. If you have teenagers, make them have a job as well. This will
bring more § into the household. If you have §500+, that's good as there
is need for more §. When the money starts to roll in, buy more things like
computers, better beds, better kitchenware, etc. When you have no more space
in your house. Stop.

When you have §20000+ in cash, refill your fridge (you should refill it
earlier, but hey). Either take a taxi to a community lots where you can buy
food or order over the telephone. Ordering over the telephone involves a §50
delivery fee. Quit your Sims jobs. All of them. Then try to find a job in the
Athletics Career. Get some friends and keep promoting them. When you have the
money, then you keep playing yourself, the Noob Walkthrough is over.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[5.02] Earning Money

There are many ways to earn the easy buck. If you happen to have an art easel
and a high creative Sim, start painting. It earns you money on a more you
paint the more you earn basis. I've heard about people earning §2000+ per
painting! And there is the Hydroponic Garden. As a reward, your Sims will
cultivate plants and sell it for money. Getting a lot of family friends and
a lot of skill points with the odd maxed out set will greatly speed up your
chances at getting a promotion at work. The only method however, of gaining
more than §2000+ per painting is that you keep at it, keep going and painting.
The University Art Career has no bearing on this trait and the more you paint,
the more each painting will net.

And who could forget the good old money tree. At §40 a pop every eight hours,
you could be rich! Don't have too many excess, unwanted objects as your bills
get calculated from the amount of objects your have and their values. Don't
make your Sim's eat without having a low hunger bar as food from the fridge
comes from the groceries you have to order. Use this walkthrough only if you
are on the verge of bankruptcy in the Sims 2.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[5.03] Art Money Maker

This should belong in the art section but I really don't care. When you finish
your painting on the art easel, you don't have to sell it. Go to buy mode and
hang it somewhere. As the time goes on, you'll forget about the painting, no
seriously, you'll forget, just like me. Leave it there and the price of the
painting will slowly increase over time. I once had a crappy painting which
was worth about §56, and when I remembered about it, it was worth §500! Man
was that a great deal. The price of sale increased by over 450%. You can also
do this with the painting you can buy like the §5500 one but it will increase
slower, it increased only §78 in 3 days.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[5.04] Need Control

This section is the faster way to regain your needs if you live in a single
storey house or you are short on time. Of course, check your bars for the one
that is in the most red. If it is bladder, go to the toilet to avoid a nasty
accident. Hygiene is cleared by going to the shower. Fun is quickly cured by
watching television, it regains the fastest on a channel besides the Yummy
Channel and is best on the wide screen plasma television. Hunger is the most
annoying one as it takes time to cool. Go for an instant meal is you are red
but if you have time to same yourself, you should aim for a meal like an
omelette or something that your Sim will not have the chance to get away from
as when they are hungry, they tend to leave food in the oven and stuff their
face with food while their cooking project is in the oven, starting to set the
whole house on fire. Social is best regain if you send e-mails many times and
when you check your e-mail, you will get a massive boost to your bar as you
decided to spam many e-mails over the SimInternet. Energy and comfort is best
regained on the Most expensive double bed. Comfort will skyrocket and energy
will slowly but surely regain itself. Environment is regained if you find a
better furnished and cleaner room then you are in now. If not, clean the damn
room up.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[5.05] Skill Builder

Under here is the fastest way for my Sims to build up those hard to earn skill
points. Use the exercise machines, they are the fastest ways to build up those
annoying body skill points. Cleaning is best gained from cleaning benches and
toilets and such. Although cleaning from the bookcase could be faster, you are
actually helping out around the house and save on those maid bills. Cooking
skill points are best learnt from the television (the Yummy Channel) and
cooking and serving food. This can help you because the Yummy Channel is a fun
activity for all Sims and the cooking and serving for everyone is helpful
because it can relieve hunger for yourself and other Sims. Mechanical can be
learnt from the bookself but helping out and fixing the broken objects are
also important but the danger of getting fried by some broken electrical
product is quite high. Charisma is only learnt from the mirror as there is no
naturally occurring object that will raise it. Creativity is the most easy
one to raise because of the sheer fact that your Sims will do it with free
will. Paintings are the best in my opinion because they will provide some nice
needed money and boost your creativity which will boost future paintings.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[6] Your Sims Needs

Sims, like humans in real life, have needs, the basic needs of life. Their
needs include Hunger, Comfort, Bladder, Energy, Fun, Social, Hygiene and
Environment.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[6.01] Hunger

"A refridgerator is the first stop for any hungry Sim. Cooking Skill and
appliances will affect the quality of the different meals Sims can prepare. If
they don't feel like cooking, then they can call for a pizza!"

Hunger is the only need on the list that can kill your Sim. This makes it the
most important need to fulfil and first thing to look at on your Sim's need
bar. The more expensive the appliances that are used, the better quality the
food would turn out to be. Hunger can be restored by ordering a pizza from the
phone, grilling it on a BBQ, cooking it on a microwave or oven, having a snack
and using the oven stove to cook.

When cooking your food for an important guest, like for instance the
Headmaster, you have to cook from a expensive fridge. The enhance the quality,
you should have a blender / food processor on standby (expensive) to mulch
the food, then cook it on an expensive BBQ or the most expensive oven. Make
the food a higher cooking level type of food, like lobster or salmon.

Hunger has the biggest effect on a Sims mood so be sure to make their hunger
in full green all the time to get a high mood score. Don't eat 24/7 because if
you do, the game will make your excess food in blubber and you really don't
want that to happen to your Sim, do you?

********************
*Desperation Action*
********************

When the hunger bar has hardly any green left in it, it would be full red. The
Sim will rush to your fridge and randomly grabbing stuff to stuff its face.
If there is no fridge, say goodbye to your Sim. If there is no food (hence
no supplies in the fridge), also prepare to say goodbye to your Sim.

Full to Empty
Hunger of Active: 50 Hours
Hunger of Lazy : 54 Hours

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[6.02] Comfort

"Sims of all ages love to be comfortable. This need will get pretty low if
there isn't a nice cozy couch or chair to sit down. Taking a warm bath or
soaking in the hot tub is another great way for Sims to relax."

Comfort isn't important to your Sims like Hunger is. It will only increase
your mood, that's about it. Sit down on chairs, sofas, recliners to increase
comfort. Sleeping and having a bath will increase comfort. When you sit down
to eat your meal (Sim) you will increase comfort. All I can say is that you
can increase comfort and keep it at the max without even knowing about it.

Comfort is not one of the most important type of mood. It hardly increases
your bar so don't bother with this one much.

********************
*Desperation Action*
********************

They will talk to your in Sim language and wave their hand and complain.

Full to Empty
Comfort of Active: 48 Hours
Comfort of Lazy : 16 Hours

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[6.03] Bladder

"When a Sim's gotta go, a Sim's gotta go. And there's really only one solution
to that kind of problem - get them to a toilet as fast as possible."

Bladder is not important, however it can raise your mood fast and it is by
far the quickest draining motive your Sim can have. It drains fast and it will
normally go red in about 6-8 Sim hours. If you eat something, drink from a
bar, drink coffee or drink from a tap, you will drain the bladder bar a lot
faster for as long as your are eating / drinking the food. You can compare
this to real life. The more you drink, the more you pee, the more you eat,
the more your poo. The better the toilet (expensive) the faster you get rid
of your red bladder

Not every important to your mood but take care of it anyway, you don't want to
have your Sim taking a leak on their favourite clothes.

********************
*Desperation Action*
********************

This action should be highly avoided (means going to the toilet ASAP.) Your
Sim will have an accident (that is how it is described in the game.) What I'm
saying is that your Sims will pee their pants if your have to go but you
don't. It will release your red bladder bar all the way up to green in a clear
shot, however, your hygiene will be completely red. This will happen to
toddlers but you do not see the drama that is shown.

Full to Empty
16 Hours

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[6.04] Energy

"Nothing replaces a good night's sleep, but in a pinch Sims can settle for a
nap on the couch, a snooze in the recliner, or a steaming cup of coffee to
boost their energy."

Energy is semi important. It is required to have a nice green energy bar
before you go to work or school, but it drains like a turtle running a 100m
race. Body work, such as weightlifting or swimming drains the bar like hell.
The better the sleeping thing is (couch, bed, recliner) the better the energy
bar gets refilled.

This motive has hardly any say in the mood factor, however, you can fall
asleep on the floor if you don't take care of this one.

********************
*Desperation Action*
********************

If you energy is nothing left, your Sim will fall asleep on the spot, either
standing up or sitting on the floor. This improves your energy, but at a slow
speed. Like bladder, something will take a hit, and in this case, it is your
comfort. If swimming and you run out of energy, your Sim will go to heaven
because they will drown.

[6.05] Fun

"Fun means something different to everyone. Some Sims may prefer reading while
others like watching TV. Most Sims will enjoy playing a game of pinball or
darts with other Sims."

Fun is fairly important. It can cause a bad mood if fun is red, but it is a
breeze to maintain. To improve fun, do something fun (duh). Serious Sims will
have fun reading books, playing chess and reading the newspaper. Playful Sims
will have more fun playing Group Activities like darts. Everyone will enjoy
TV and pinball machines. The more expensive the fun object is, the faster the
fun bar will be filled.

This is the most important motive for skill building. All work and no play
make your Sim, something, something. If you want to build any skill, it is
sure that without a green bar of fun, you won't learn anything.

[6.06] Social

"Sims are friendly creatures that crave social interaction. They can fulfill
their needs by interacting with friends, family and neighbors. The telephone
is a great way for Sims to invite people over or to catch up on the latest
gossip."

Social is very important in the game, next to hunger. It drains fast (which is
what I really hate as it can take ages to increase.) Go too red and a bunny
lands smack down on to your house which only the red social Sim can see. You
can do whatever you want (Kisses and Hugs improve social fastest.) Social can
increase when you talk when you eat dinner, talking to someone on the phone,
bathing the baby, etc. If you have lots of friends, chuck a party

Social has an important swing in mood. Without it, you will never reach will
green. E-mail spam is the best way to increase social in a nick of time.

Oh, and the Social Bunny is a reference to a disturbing movie called Donnie
Darko, thanks to Jessica Dahl for pointing that out.

Same as fun, do nothing until it is increased. Oh and to COMPLAIN.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[6.07] Hygiene

"Taking a shower might seem like a usual part of any Sim's routine, but it's
surprising how often it gets overlooked and how low this motive can get.
Taking a bath is a more relaxing solution if the Sims can find some extra
time."

Hygiene is important, moreso if you what to be a social animal. It drains
slow unless you are weightlifting or swimming. Smelly Sims will have a green
cloud around them (ewww cloud) and other Sims will not want to have any social
interactions with them, so they fail. To increase hygiene, wash your hands in
a sink, take a shower or a bath.

Has a slight effect on mood and certainly on other Sims. If you think that
hygiene has no real meaning in the Sims 2, think again.

********************
*Desperation Action*
********************

If you have low hygiene and no bath tub, hot tub or a shower, your Sim will
try to give themselves a sponge bath in the sink. No Sink means that it will
stay red till you buy something.

Hygiene of Neat : 48 Hours
Hygiene of Sloppy: 16 Hours

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[6.08] Environment

"Decorations and landscaping around the lot will affect the environment. Sims
like bright, clean spaces with plenty of color and light. A well kept house
and yard will surely fulfill this need."

Environment is not important but can turn a very good mood to a very crappy
good mood. It changes room to room as they are separated by a door. Windows
will increase the environment, the more light there is, the better. Also, art
will affect the mood. The outside of the house is the most important as your
Sims will go to work with this environment score. This bar will increase or
decrease from room to room, unlike other bars with increase and decrease over
time. The original Sims will know that environment is changed from the "Room"
score in the Sims 1.

Trash on the floors like green bottles and plates that have green clouds
around them will decrease the score. Old newspapers, weeds and untrimmed
hedges will also decrease the score. If your house is really filthy, there
will be cockroaches, which will really lower the score.

Outside, place trees and shrubs to increase the score as when you go to work,
the outside environment will have a say between promotion or no promotion.

Environment will be a concerning factor in your mood. A good can go bad if the
room is a bombzone. Make it clean or you are stuffed.

********************
*Desperation Action*
********************

There is no action for the Environment however, they will whine at any
possible moment to clean up the mess. Best to send the children to do it,
since they don't have an Environment bar.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[8] Semi Skills

This chapter will outline skills that are hidden by other main skills. These
skills are yoga, meditate and cooking (cooking chart)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[8.01] Yoga

Yoga is achieved when your Sim has a body skill of 3. To go yoga, click on
your active Sims and click "Do Yoga." You learn more techniques if your do
more Yoga. It increases your body skill at the same time. Note that they will
stop doing Yoga if that fall down and make a fool of themselves.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[8.02] Meditate

Meditate is acquired when you have a logic skill of 3. You click on your
active Sim and click "Meditate." You lose no needs on your status bar and they
don't change when meditating. That means that you don't need to pee while
meditating which is a blessing. After 14 overall hours of meditating, you
learn how to teleport while you meditate.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[8.03] Cooking

Cooking is a main skill but here is listed the food your can cook with each
cooking level. Food will have flies and go bad after about 8 hours after they
were cooked. Thanks for Jessica Dahl again for pointing out that if you have
a serving platter that is about to go off in 2 hours, pulling a plate from
the platter will give the new dish another 8 hours while the serving platter
will still go off in 2 hours. This also applies to Pizza as well.

[9] Age Groups

New in the Sims 2 is age groups. This is how you tell how do a Sim is. As they
grow older, the age groups changes slowly till they reach Elder and pass on.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[9.01] Baby

To get a baby, you must have a female and male adult. They must have a
lifetime relationship of at least 70 (lower bar) and a current relationship
(higher bar) of about 90+. Now to make a baby. Have your two sims relax
together in the bed or in the hot tub. Use one sim and click on the other.
Now you click on the option of "Try for Baby" and they will do a WooHoo. I
will warn you that having a "Try For Baby" in the hot tub is a lot less
successful than in the bed. If it is successful, you will hear part of the
song "Rock a Bye Baby." If not, try again.

Your female Sim is now pregnant. It takes 3 days for your Sims to give birth.
On the first day, she will have "Morning Sickness." From then on, every day
for 3 days, your Sim's belly will grow bigger and bigger. Once the 3 days are
up, your Sim will give birth. Every other Sim around the house will come and
watch your Sim give birth. The Sim will have their green arrow broken into
two, with the smaller one being given to the baby.

There is another rarer way to get a baby. Have any Sim (adult) stargaze at
night between 7:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. using the telescope. Aliens will abduct
your Sim and their needs will be randomized throughout the situation. Once
they come back, they will be pregnant, this INCLUDES males. When they give
birth however, it will be an alien sort of child, green skin and black eyes.
Note that teens can be abducted, however, they cannot have children.

Like the Sims 1, you do not have control of the baby, so you must guess what
it wants. You can play with it, feed it (bottle from the fridge), cuddle it
and bathe it (in the sink). The baby will sometimes have a green trail around
it, so then you have to change a diaper! Take good care of it or the social
worker will come and take away your baby. The baby will become a toddler in
3 days.

SPOILER ALERT

If you eat spaghetti when your female Sim is having a child, there is a higher
chance of the baby becoming a pair of twins!!!

END SPOILER

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[9.02] Toddler

A toddler is the older form of the baby. You can control the toddler now. You
can have it learn some skills like creativity. The status of the toddler is
the same except it has removed 2 bars, Comfort and Environment. You can do
more with it now. Your Sims has more interactions with it such as bathing it
in the bath tub, talk to it, etc. You can teach the toddler 3 things with the
adults. Teach it to Walk, Teach it to Talk and Potty Train it. They also have
skill building available to them, however, you will need specific items to
train those skills.

If you hire a Nanny, everyone can leave the baby at home while the nanny looks
after it. However, the Nanny will teach it to walk and talk so you won't have
the chance to teach it yourself. Your Choice. If you don't look after it well,
the toddler will be taken away by the infamous Social Worker. After 5 days,
the toddler will become a child. Note that the Nanny is a lazy *** ** * *****
and will make food, even when the child is not hungry, walk around in your
house and watch TV. Rarely do they actually do any work.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[9.03] Child

A child is more like the adult Sim now than ever before. The status bar is
only missing the bar environment now. All 7 skill sets are available to the
child now. It is just like an adult except for the major actions which an
adult can do. It can't cook, WooHoo, make out, etc. Your Sim child will have
to go to school (groan) from 9am to 3pm (carpool at 8am) Monday to Friday.
Your Sims parents have the option of having a private school accept your child
by calling the headmaster from the phone. Look after the child well for it can
be taken away by the social workers. After 8 days, the child will become a
teenager.

The only exception to the child not being able to cook is using their little
oven to bake muffins. After a few cooking skill points, they won't even burn
their muffins!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[9.04] Teenager

A teenager is only a step away from the adulthood. The teenager has more
access to social interactions like kissing and others. They can cook and they
still have to attend school. The time is from 9am to 1pm (carpool at 8am).
That is 2 hours taken away. They attend Monday to Friday. You can get them
into a private school as well. You can get a job for your teen in any of the
ten job groups by they only have 3 levels in them. Jobs start at about 3pm
Sim time. After 15 days, your teenager is an adult. Unlike children, you
can leave them at home without fear of the social worker coming along and
kidnapping them.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[9.05] Adult

The adult is the adult Sim in the Sims 1. The are smart and know what to do
around the house. They have full access to all the social interactions except
for the child ones (cops and robbers, etc). The Sims can get engaged, married
and joined (for same sex couples). They can move out and find their own place.
They have 10 levels in every job set career. When they earn money, they have
some of the money as private money. They can have babies and have free reign.
After 29 days, they will become elders.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[9.06] Elder

An elder has the access of social interactions like an adult. Their job set
however is the same as an teenager, so there are 3 job levels per career. If
the elder keeps a high aspiration and a good mood, you elder will die of old
age. This will happen when the elder is about 15 - 25 Sim days since they
turn elder. If they had a job as an adult, they retire with a fraction of the
pay.

After the elder dies, their private money and wealth is spilt up and given
as an inheritance. The higher the dead Sim's aspiration and higher the
relationship with the other Sim's means that more money will be given to that
particular Sim.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[10] Aspirations

New to the Sims 2 is aspirations. These is a Sim's wants and fears. This is

***************

are positively adorable."

of duct tape and bits of twine, and reported to be beyond the ken of mortal
Sims. Bit all you need to know is that a quick visit to the Energizer will get
your Sim's motor running! Only five uses allowed for this addictive item."

romance? Just about no one if they're soaking with your Sim in the Love Tub,

will not revert to the teenager age group, you will have 29 days before you
are an elder. There is no change. The max you can push it up to is the age
you have to grow. Therefore, you have no 32 days only 29.

If unsuccessful, you will get 3 days closer to elder. That means that if you
are 15 days from being an elder, you will have 12 days left. If you have less
than 3 days before you turn elder, you will be pushed into the next age group.
