v 0.2 10/20/03 - A much-needed update. Gave alternate
strategy for battling Delacroix on Stage
11. (Thanks to Cronoeds for that one!)
Also, a lot of people have been asking
about Life Max Up, Soul Max Up, Defense Up,
etc. and how to equip all those gems. I
added a section under the "C. ITEMS"
portion of the PLAYING THE GAME header.
I hope that will help everyone out. Sorry
about that. (Thanks to all who pointed it
out to me.)

*************** I. INTRODUCTION / PURPOSE OF BEING ****************
***********************************************************************
Welcome to utter Chaos! (HHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAA!! Gotta love the bad
jokes.) No, really, welcome to this guide for CHOAS LEGION, a hack &
slash romp through 13 gothic-tasty levels of pure pandemonium. This
game is almost straight action, and it is fun, but at times
excruciatingly tough.
If you want action, you're in the right place. If you want a puzzle
game, sorry, there's not much of that here, aside from choosing which
legions to use (more on that later).
So, I created this guide to hopefully help a few people out when they
dip their toes into the murky waters of Chaos Legion. This guide
attempts to cover every aspect of playing the game, including
leveling-up legions and Thanatos Chip locations. (If you're wondering
what I'm talking about, don't worry - it's covered later.)
Note: Be sure to bring some ice because this game is guaranteed to
make your fingers hurt or swell up.
Okay, I'm gonna plug a bit for myself. (I gotta do it. Sorry.)
This is the fourth FAQ I have written. My others are for:
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (PS2)
Haven: Call of the King (PS2)
Primal (PS2)
Okay, enough of that. I just hope this guide is able to help someone.

B. PLAYER MODES
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
CHAOS LEGION has two player modes, Assault Mode and Force Mode. Each
mode has it's advantages and can be accessed or changed at any time
depending on the situation.
ASSAULT MODE - Sieg will fight alone. Sieg's movement is not
restricted, meaning he can run. This is very effective
when battling against a small number of enemies (say 3-
5) at a time. Sieg's attack power is also increased
when in this mode, but he is more vulnerable to attack,
especially if surrounded by monsters.
Legion/Assist Attack - Use one SOUL gauge to activate quick and
sometimes powerful attacks by your Legions.
These attacks assist Sieg in Assault Mode.
FORCE MODE - Sieg will fight along side his legions. His movement is
restricted in this mode, meaning he cannot run, and his
attack power is decreased. However, his legions provide
him with an extra force to attack, and he is able to
handle multiple enemies in this mode. You can also
command your legions and lock-on to certain targets in
this mode.
Legion/Force Attack - Summon Legions without consuming any SOUL
Energy. You can make your Legions Active or
Passive. When they are Active, the legions
fight on their own. When they are Passive,
they will await instruction from Sieg. Your
Soul Meter decreases if Legions suffer
damage. If your Soul Meter decreases to
zero, the Legion crest shatters, eliminating
the legion along with disabling Force and
Assist attacks of that Legion.

So What do I do with all those Max Up Items?
--------------------------------------------
If you're wondering how to equip items like Life Max Up, Soul Max Up,
Defense Up, and Attack Up Gems, here's what's up with that. They do
not have to be manually equipped. They will automatically "equip"
themselves the moment you pick them up. Now, for them to stay in your
inventory, you must complete the stage in which you collect them.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
D. INTERMISSION SCREEN
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
At the end of a stage, you will see an Intermission Screen. Here, you
are provided with many options as well as a "Ranking Screen" for your
performance in the stage and a few goodies.
Player
------
LEGION EQUIP - Select the crest of the legion to be equipped on Sieg.
(Maximum 2 legions)
PLAYER STATUS - Check equipped legions, maximum Life Meter value, and
Soul Meter Value. Also check other statistics like
Maximum Attack and Defense Power.
PLAYER ACTION - Check actions and abilities that can be used and
methods of operation.
EXIT - Return to the main Intermission Screen.
Legion
------
Use EXP points gained from previous stages that a legion was equipped
to increase the levels of the legions' abilities like ENCHANT, FORCE,
ASSIST, ATTACK POWER, and DEFENSE POWER. (You can also give legions
acquired EXP Gems.
Item
----
View and use collected items. The maximum number of certain items you
can carry depends on the difficulty level of the game. An example:
On NORMAL Difficulty, you can only carry up to:
6 Life Recovery S Gems
2 Life Recovery L Gems
6 Soul Recovery S Gems
2 Soul Recovery L Gems
Memory Card
-----------
Save and Load your game. Choose which option you want. You can save
up to 5 separate games on one memory card (8MB for PlayStation 2) and
one "Retry Data."
Game End
--------
End game & return to main screen menu.
Next Stage
----------
View the stage select map and choose which stage you wish to move to.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=
E. PAUSE MENU
=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Press the START Button to pause the game during gameplay. You will
be given many options.
PLAYER - View character's current status.
LEGION - View legions' current status.
ITEM - Browse Item Inventory and use various items. (Usable items
appear brightly lit.)
MAP - Display the map of the current stage/section.
=-=-=-=-=-=-
F. GAME OVER
=-=-=-=-=-=-
This is nobody's favorite screen. But, chances are you'll get at
least one when playing Choas Legion. On it are three options:
RETRY - Allows you to replay the current portion of the map you
failed to complete. (Useful to return quickly to
Checkpoints, but you lose EXP gained after the last
checkpoint you passed.)
RETURN - Allows you to return to the previous Intermission Screen
with only half your gained EXP for the level. Use this
option to level up your legions if you keep dying during a
stage.
GAME END - End the current game and return to the game's main menu.
This option will give you the choice of saving something
known as "Retry Data" that allows you to pick up from the
last checkpoint you passed before dying. (Useful for Boss
Fights and bathroom breaks.)
***********************************************************************
*************************** IV. LEGIONS ***************************
***********************************************************************
This section covers hopefully everything to do with Legions that Sieg
can equip.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
A. LEGION EFFECTS
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Once equipped with a Legion, Sieg can perform many special moves.
Increase the levels of your legions to find more abilities.
Enchant
-------
These are abilities that Sieg can use without consuming any Soul
Energy. You can even use these abilities when the Legion Crest is
shattered. Different equipped Legions give Sieg different abilities.
Increase the Legion to Enchant Level 4 to gain the "Spirit Trancer"
ability for that legion which allows you to use some special abilities
of the legion WITHOUT equipping the legion.
Assist
------
These are attacks that consume Soul Energy. A legion will brief
attack when Sieg is alone in Assault Mode, and you press the Triangle
(T) Button.
Force
-----
Summon the legion without consuming Soul Energy. The legion will then
fight by your side, using it's own unique attacks and abilities.
Press (R2) to make the legion Active or Passive.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
B. BROKEN CREST
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
If Sieg's Soul Meter depletes to zero when a Legion is summoned, the
legion crest will shatter, rendering the legion unusable. (However,
you can still use it's Enchant abilities.) In order to restore a
shattered crest, you must fill your Soul Meter to a certain point that
varies for every legion, either by attacking enemies and collecting
Phantom Soul or using Soul Recovery Gems.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
C. INCREASING LEGION LEVEL
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
When a Legion is equipped on Sieg and he completes a stage, the legion
will gain Experience Points (EXP) that can be used at the Intermission
Screen to increase the levels of FORCE, ASSIST, ENCHANT, ATTACK, and
DEFENSE. By doing this, the legion and Sieg will gain new, more
powerful abilities. (You can use EXP Gems to increase the Experience
Points of a legion as well.)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

******************** V. GENERAL NOTES ON FAQ **********************
***********************************************************************
Okay, welcome to the portion of the FAQ where I squeeze everything I
had no idea what to do with! I wanted to talk about a couple things
here.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
A. LEGION LAYOUT
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
When you begin a stage, you might notice that I have these little
headers that show which Legions to use:
~~ LEGION LAYOUT: THANATOS ~~
------------------------------
These headers are meant only as suggestions and recommendations.
These show the legions that I used to beat the stage, but that doesn't
mean that you have to use those legions. (In some areas, you might
think I was downright nutty to use the legions I did. Well, I probably
was.) But, that's there to help guide you.
=-=-=-=-=-
B. MARKERS
=-=-=-=-=-
I have tried to point out the locations of any movie cutscenes in the
game with this marker:
~~~ MOVIE ~~~
Why did I do that? I was bored. (Just kidding.)
I also tried to designate areas where a Thanatos Chip is near. To do
this, I used this hi-tech, flashy marker:
=========================
<<<<< THANATOS CHIP >>>>>
=========================
Hopefully, this will alert you to one of the nine hidden items in the
game. (You'll find out about that later.)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
C. INTERMISSION
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
After every stage, I have included an Intermission Screen that will
tell you some things you need to know, like what goodies you get for
completing the mission.
Note: You will get items when you complete a stage. I have tried to
log which items you receive, however, the specific item could
change depending on level of difficulty or other factors.
Also, I show a few suggestions about how to level-up your legions.
Use these as guidelines, you don't HAVE to do everything (or anything)
that I do unless I stress it highly.
Don't worry, I won't know if you don't follow the guide to the
letter. ~8-)
So, why don't we pop in the game and dive into the disorder . . .
***********************************************************************
*********************** VI. DA WALKTHROUGH ************************
***********************************************************************
Note: This walkthrough was made using the NORMAL difficulty level.
| ~ PROLOGUE ~ |
| Rotarl - The Sacred Capital |
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
~~ LEGION LAYOUT: THANATOS ~~
------------------------------
Okay, you begin on a rectangular stonework pathway. Bring your sword
and your buddy Thanatos. When he's on your side, things are good
'cause life's a party and he's your own personal bouncer. Press (L1)
to summon him.
This stage is basically a training area to familiarize you with the
control and flow of the game. So, are you ready to crunch some stuff?
Run ahead to a square entrance to a tunnel to find a cutscene where
some four-legged bug-like things known as Balors leap out. I really
hate spiders, err . . . Balors.
-------------------------------------------------
Scene 1: Annihilate the enemy! (A buncha Balors)
-------------------------------------------------
So, this isn't as tough as it looks. Do just as the game commands you
and clobber the Balors. Run through the tunnel to find a green
glowing item on top of some ledges above you. Jump up there to grab
it. This glowing trinket is a Life Recovery S Gem, which restores
Sieg's life by 200 points. (Very handy.)
After picking that up, turn right and summon Thanatos (if you haven't
already). Make sure your crest, in the upper left corner of the
screen, is glowing orange. This means that your legion is in Force
Mode and will mostly attack on its own. But, you can make a legion
attack more often by pressing the (T) or Triangle Button.
Leap down into the Balor chaos below. There is a small platform in
the center here. Have Thanatos attack the Balors, and help him out
by attacking with Sieg. Do this by pressing the (S) or Square Button.
Note: The emphasis in this game is combat (duh), but most times you
WILL need your legion to attack and provide protection because
hordes of enemies will relentlessly try to mow you down. And a
Sieg without his legions is a dead Sieg.
Okay, after wiping the floor with all the Balors, you will receive a
"Scene Results" screen displaying your performance record for that
portion of the level. And, the Sealed Gate blocking your path will
open. Go ahead and be brave - walk through it.
----------------------------------------
Scene 2: Annihilate the enemy! (Balors)
----------------------------------------
Walk through a small corridor to an open area. A cutscene will
commence where armies of Balors march ominously toward you.
Just let Thanatos do most of the work here. Press (T) to get him
to attack. This is also a good time to practice a few techniques
like counter-attack and Lock-on.
Note on "Lock-on": You can Lock-on to enemies as a focal point for
your legions to attack by aiming at the desired
enemy and pressing (C) or the Circle Button. An
enemy encased in white electricity is considered
"locked-on." Disable Lock-on by pressing (C) a
second time. (During lock-on, if you focus the
camera, it will focus on the targeted enemy.
Note on
"counter-attack": To perform a counter-attack, press the (S) button
and attack just as an enemy is about to attack you.
If you pull it off, you will hear a high-pitched
ringing sound and the screen will momentarily
freeze. A successful counter-attack maneuver is
worth four times (4x) the normal amount of
experience points (EXP) for disposing of an enemy.
Okay, back to the game . . . When you dispose of the legion of Balors
(I know, that was bad - but I had to do it), the Sealed Gate ahead
will open. Go through it.
Note: You may have noticed that Sieg cannot run while his legions are
summoned. Well, Sieg's movement is hindered when his legions
are deployed. He can only run when he is alone.
-----------------------------------------------
Scene 3: Destroy the Target! (Balors & Badbh)
-----------------------------------------------
In this next open area, you will see a cutscene where many Balors come
out of the stonework again. Only this time they're accompanied by
their good friend the mammoth-bi-pedal-pain-in-the-butt. Yeah, that
big green mean-looking thing.
Because that name is rather long, let's call him a Badbh.
=== TARGET: BADBH ===
Note: To quickly find the Target of an area, look for any monster(s)
with "Target" written above its head.
Your primary target is the Badbh. Lock-on to it and summon Thanatos.
Press (T) to have Thanatos attack the Badbh while you take care of
the Balor problem.
Forcus your efforts on the Badbh, but don't get hit because it hurts!
About "half of your life" hurts. So, avoid his friendly quick swipes
and get away when he smashes the ground.
Get Thanatos to pummel the Badbh. If you want to attack as well, I
suggest attacking from behind. But move around so the Badbh is always
facing away from you because he loves to turn around quickly and slap
your face off.
Note: The Balors will constantly respawn in this area until the Badbh
is knocked on his behind.
After defeating certain enemies (like Badbhs) you will receive little
bits of a green aura that restore Sieg's life. This is known as
Phantom Life.
Okay, after this, the gate will open, and you'll immediately warp
to . . .
-------------------------------------------------
Scene 4: Destroy the Target! (Jenon and Balors)
-------------------------------------------------
=== TARGET: JENON ===
This is another open area. You are in front of a giant ornate gate.
Balors will spawn around a creature that looks like a giant plant pod.
This is a Jenon, which can also be considered a monster generator.
Lock-on to the Jenon and slap away with Thanatos. Help him out, too,
by attacking and clearing out some of the Balors.
Note: A Jenon by itself cannot hurt you. However, the enemies it
produces will hurt you. For a certain amount of time, a Jenon
will continue producing monsters. When they finish production,
they become very fragile.
Occasionally, when a monster is destroyed, it will drop an item. It
just so happens that this Jenon leaves a Soul Recovery S Gem that
restores Sieg's Soul meter by 300 points. (It looks blue.)
Alrighty, moving right along . . .
Go through the open gate to see that the screen swirls and fades.
Anytime this happens, it means that the game needs to load a new
section of the map. This is good for you because this acts a sort
of "check-point", meaning that if Sieg bites the dust, you can
restart from the latest check-point or time that the map loaded.
---------------------------------------------------
Scene 5: Destroy the Target! (Zeodagdas & Balors)
---------------------------------------------------
Here, there is a narrow path with a few Balors. On the right (east)
side of the path are a few blocks that line the wall. Dispose of
the Balors and jump up on the blocks. Moving ahead, over some
stairs, and leap across a gap to pick up a Life Recovery S Gem on
a block.
Hop down to the path and go forward around a protrusion on the left.
Across from this is a ledge with a Soul Recovery S Gem on the right.
After snagging the Soul Recovery S Gem, move onward to see a
cutscene where impish warriors sporting dual blades will dash at
you. These little fellows are known as Zeodagdas (fun name, huh?).
=== TARGET: 4 ZEODAGDAS ===
The Zeodagdas are quick and agile. Use counter-attacks here. Or,
you could just use Thanatos. But, the Zeodagdas like to hop around,
so be ready. I believe there are some Balors here as well.
You can do one of two things here: either lock-on to each Zeodagda
and take them out individually or unsummon Thanatos and press the
Triangle (T) Button to execute the ultimate attack (The Ignorant
Masses) as well as every other living fiber in the vicinity. You'll
get some Phantom Life as a reward.
Move on. (You'll get used to this routine.)
Go up the stairs ahead of you.
--------------------------------------------
Scene 6: Annihilate the Enemy! (Zeodagdas)
--------------------------------------------
In this next rather narrow section, you'll see a cutscene where a
bunch of Zeodagdas spawn. Use Thanatos and some counter-attacks to
dispose of them.
After this, head up the stairs and jump up a few ledges to reach a new
area. Ahead is a giant archway of a gate. Rid yourself of any
remaining Zeodagdas and head through the gate. The screen will swirl
and fade. Get ready to rumble . . .
*=====================================================================*
*///////////////////* BOSS: SEVEN BADBH BRIGADE *\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\*
*=====================================================================*
Alright, you begin on a ledge. Below is one rather messy situation.
To end this rather quickly, step to the edge of the of the ledge.
Make sure Thanatos is unsummoned. Now, jump down in the arena below
and press (T) to initiate the ultimate attack, The Ignorant Masses.
This attack will slow time and wipe everything out in one hit.
After wiping out the bosses, a cutscene will show the Guilt Crest
rising from the stonework. Pick it up to end the level.
But (sniff) you'll lose Thanatos . . .
~~ LEGION LAYOUT: GUILT ~~
---------------------------
--------------------------------------------
Scene 1: Clear Your Path! (Balors & Ogmas)
--------------------------------------------
From where you begin, run ahead (North) to a small circular area where
some Balors await you. Don't forget to summon your Guilt Legion to
help you. Remember to use Lock-on (C) to help your legion focus on a
target.
After the Balors fall, they will drop a Defense Max Up Gem.
Now, move East to another circular area where more Balors are waiting.
With that out of the way, go North to where some Balors spawn. Use
your legion to clear a path down the winding stone walkway. Be sure
to pick up any items the enemies drop (the yellow dots on your radar).
Note: During this bulldozing session, you might notice a dog-like
creature that keeps running away. Well, that's an Ogma, and
we'll worry about that later.
When you reach the end of the winding path, turn right (south) to
find that Ogma waiting for you. Okay, once you walk into the
circular area where the Ogma is crouching, many more Ogmas will
spawn, and a gate will close. Your job is to annihilate them all.
Note: Ogmas move fast! Their favorite pastime is to roll into a ball
and run you over. Use dodge-flips (R1+X) to avoid their
attacks. Or, if you time it right, you can use counterattacks
to knock them out of ball form.
Pick up any items they may drop. They will possibly drop an Attack
Max Up Gem. With the pest problem under control, step through the
gate.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 2: Annihilate the Enemy! (Balors, Badbh, Ogma - OH MY!)
---------------------------------------------------------------
You will find yourself on a path that bends to the left (southeast).
But look out, the moment you step through the gate, many Balors will
leap from the high walls.
Have your Guilt Legion attack them. Use Lock-on, force your legion
to attack by pressing (T), and help them out by attacking as well.
===========================
<<<<< THANATOS CHIP 1 >>>>>
===========================
Ahead of you, you'll notice a large open square. A cutscene shows you
that in the middle rests a shiny object. This is a Thanatos Chip.
Step into the square and grab it up.
Note: If you collect all 9 Thanatos Chips scattered throughout the
game, you will repair the ultimate legion Thanatos that was
destroyed in the Prologue. And that means you'll get to blow
stuff up again! (Yay!)
Okay, as soon as you pick up the Thanatos Chip, a cutscene will force
the gate to close and the square to fill with Balors, Ogmas, and that
big baddie - the Badbh.
Take care of the smaller problems first, then focus on the Badbh when
all the other enemies are gone.
Badbhs can be tough without Thanatos, so you'll have to be careful
when fighting them. I suggest locking-on and sending your Guilt
Legion to fight him. Also, with Sieg, run behind the Badbh and
continue to attack him from behind. Keep moving so you stay behind
him.
Note: A Badbh will attack slowly, but if it hits - it hurts! So, to
keep legion from biting the dust after pretty much one hit, do
this: when you see a Badbh winding up for an attack, hit (L1)
to quickly unsummon your legion. Them, after he swings, summon
your legion again and make them attack. Eventually, it will go
down. This is effective against one Badbh at a time.
You will get Phantom Life for knocking out the Badbh, and a Life Max
Gem might drop along with a Life Recovery S Gem.
Now, walk ahead (East) through the open gate. The screen will swirl
and fade. Ahead is a . . .
*=====================================================================*
*///////////////////////* BOSS: LOGNAGAISER *\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\*
*=====================================================================*
A cutscene will illustrate how a giant, almost centaur-like thing with
the mother of all swords will bound at you and jump into the ring,
rattling your very bones.
Lock-on to Lognagaiser and send your Guilt Legion to pummel him. Run
in and stay behind him while attacking. This will keep your Soul Gage
filled somewhat.
Now, Lognagaiser is armor-clad. Beat on him and you'll hear a
"clanging" noise. That's his armor. When he falls over, his torso
becomes somewhat vulnerable. Take this opportunity to punish his
torso. This will knock a good chunk off his life before he gets to
his feet again. Or, you could just forgo waiting for him to fall and
attack his torso from the front by jumping up and slicing. (This is
pretty dangerous, though.)
Note: His attack is wide, so watch out. He likes to smack anything
in front of him with his sword. If you have to, quickly unsummon your
legions before he attacks and then summon once more after the attack.
Remember to always stay Locked-on to Lognagaiser. This will help you
keep tabs on him in the arena.
Continue attacking from behind, but watch out because Lognagaiser
will begin to charge about the arena as well as jump. If he lands
on you - well, let's just say that's not fun.
Soon, he will drop some metal mines that float about the space. If
these touch you, they blow your face off along with about a third of
your life. Avoid these mines as best you can and focus your efforts
on knocking Lognagaiser over. That will be the only time he is truly
immobilized and vulnerable.
Oh, and by the way, Lognagaiser will send some Zeodagdas after you.
Note: If you have to, pause the game and search through your inventory
of items to use Life Recovery Gems and Soul Recovery Gems to
keep you and your legions healthy.
After the battle, a cutscene will play where the Malice Crest appears.
Pick it up to pass the level. (Yay!)
~~ LEGION LAYOUT: GUILT & MALICE ~~
------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 1: Annihilate the Enemy! (Balors, Gunners & Archanus)
-------------------------------------------------------------
In this level, your thrust smack in the middle of a wide open area
infested with Balors! Since Balors are organic beings, summon Guilt
Legion and start pummeling. In the process of this madness, keep an
eye out for ANY items that drop like Life Recovery or Soul Recovery
Gems. (You'll need them in the next scene, trust me.)
After beating up on a few Balors, bring out your Malice Legion for the
first time.
A cutscene will run, showing three metallic guns that resemble traffic
lights spawn. Since, I can't really think of a good name, let's call
these guys Gunners. Now, get behind the Gunners and make sure your
Malice Legion comes with you. That way, the Gunners' blasts won't
hurt you. Lock-on to each one and use Malice to blow them away. They
will drop a Defense Up Gem.
Okay, so immediately after this, face North and watch as a wave of
floating blue machines known as Archanus fly at you. These guys are
metallic enemies, so blasting them with Malice by pressing (T) will
take them out in no time.
With the Archanus out of the way, summon Guilt Legion and prepare for
another wave of Balors. Again, look for any dropped items.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 2: Destroy the Target (2 Jenons and a buncha monsters)
-------------------------------------------------------------
When the gates open, head through the exit and down the small ramp
where a few Ogmas are camped. These guys are organic, so use Guilt
Legion to knock them out.
Now, at the bottom of the ramp, peek around the wall to the left
(west). Be careful because this open area is filled with Gunners
that encircle a Jenon.
=== TARGET: JENON ===
The Jenon is your primary target here, but the Gunners can easily
kill Sieg and his friends in about two hits. Also, there are some
Ogmas, and, oh, some Balors too. (These enemies will keep spawning
until the Jenon in the center is destroyed.)
So, summon Malice Legion and walk around the North edge of the area,
taking out a few Gunners quickly. Watch out from crossfire from the
Gunners. Now, with a few of the Gunners out of the way, quickly
summon Guilt Legion, Lock-on to the Jenon and start attacking it.
Fend off any Ogmas and Balors that attack. Again, circle around the
Jenon to avoid enemy fire.
Note: If your Legion Crest gets broken, you can attack enemies around
the area to build up your Soul Meter. Also, if you find
yourself low on life, run back up the ramp on the east side of
the area and use the wall as cover. Draw one enemy at a time
over the wall, so you can destroy them and build up your Soul
Meter again.
This battle might be a bit tough, but just keep trying to attack the
Jenon hard in little intervals and then take brakes, hiding behind
the wall. You'll get Phantom Life and a Life Max Up Gem for your
trouble.
Now, press on ahead to the west and down the curving walkway. When
you get to the end, a cutscene will show the gate closing.
Immediately, some Ogmas and a Badbh will sprout. Do not worry about
them. In fact, stay away from the Badbh (but, if you choose to fight
him, you'll get Phantom Life for beating him back into the pavement.)
Head back up the bending walkway to find your primary target in the
open area you just left.
=== TARGET: JENON (again) ===
Didn't you just destroy this guy? Around this Jenon are a bunch of
Balors. Summon Guilt Legion and lock-on to the Jenon.
Note: If Guilt Crest is broken, just beat up on some of the Balors to
quickly get enough soul energy to restore it.
Focus on the Jenon and constantly move around it lower your chances
of getting smacked. If the big bad Badbh comes up to join in the fun,
maneuver away from him but keep focused on the Jenon. The quicker the
Jenon goes down, the quicker all the enemies will as well.
You'll receive an Attack Up S Gem for your valiant effort. Make sure
Guilt Legion is still summoned.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 3: Destroy the Target! (5 Jenon, 2 Gunners, Ogmas, & Badbhs
-------------------------------------------------------------------
===========================
<<<<< THANATOS CHIP 2 >>>>>
===========================
Run back down to the end of the bending path to an open area with two
pillars in the middle. A cutscene will play, showing you many
monsters and a Thanatos Chip.
=== TARGET: 5 JENON ===
Right off, 3 Ogmas and some Balors will charge at you. Take care of
them with Guilt Legion. Now, summon Malice Legion and dispose of the
Gunners behind each pillar. Then, bust out Guilt Legion again and
prepare to fight.
Note: The moment you pick up the Thanatos Chip in the corner, Archanus
will spawn. Shoot them down with Malice Legion and pick up any
items that drop.
You could head right over to the clump of Jenons and just start
hacking away, but the Badbhs will cause a big headache. So, take
the Badbhs out, remembering to unsummon Guilt Legion just before
the Badbhs swing.
You can also draw the Badbhs away from the Jenons. When the Badbhs
are far enough away, dash over to the Jenons, summon Guilt Legion and
commence the dismemberment.
After you destroy one or two Jenons, some Archanus will sprout. Use
Malice Legion to rid yourself of the bother.
Note: The middle Jenon will drop a Life Max Up Gem.
For your effort, the gate will open and you'll be presented with a
Life Recovery S Gem. Grab it and pass through the gate while the
*////////////////////////* BOSS: VERGE ZAGAN*\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\*
*=====================================================================*
In this wide open area, you must contend with a big blue
dragon/behemoth hybrid known as Verge Zagan. He's here to say hi and
politely flatten Sieg into the pavement. To help him do this is his
very own band of Ogmas!
Note: Verge Zagan will slap the ground right away, sending a shock-
wave through the ground. Jump over the shock-wave before it
gets to you.
Summon Guilt Legion and lock-on to Verge Zagan. Pound the Ogmas to
keep your Soul Meter up. Now, Verge Zagan's weak-point is his head
and neck. Focus your attacks there. He will try and turn away from
you, but keep at it - and watch out for his attacks with his claws.
Use dodges (R1+X) to avoid them if you need to. He will jump away
from you too. Don't get smooshed!
When you knock Verge Zagan down to about half life (somewhere in the
yellow color of his Life Meter), he will begin to charge about the
arena. (This happens right after a cutscene shows him screaming.)
He will swing his tail. Be ready to unsummon Guilt Legion so they
don't get slapped. Then, when you get a chear shot, use Guilt and
attack his neck again.
Soon, he will go down, and you will be rewarded with the Blasphemy
Crest.
~~ LEGION LAYOUT: GUILT & MALICE ~~
------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 1: Destroy the Target! (Seedling, Gunners, Ogma, & Badbh)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
You begin in an extremely open square with a few pillars spread
around. Ahead of you is a big green object floating in the air.
I'll refer to this as a seedling. Summon Malice and get ready.
=== TARGET: SEEDLING ===
Walk toward the Seedling. Four Gunners will spawn, and their fire
pattern will resemble a cross. Along with this, two Ogmas and a
Badbh will magically appear.
Take out the Gunners first by walking around behind each one. But,
watch out for their blasts. After the Gunners are gone, focus on
the Badbh. Summon Guilt to take care of him while you destroy the
Ogmas. Remember to unsummon Guilt right before the Badbh hits them.
Once the Badbh is gone, lock-on to the Seedling and pummel away.
Okay, with the Seedling out of the way, a cutscene will show four
Jenons appearing, each in a corner of the ruin.
Immediately after this, many Archanus will pop up and begin flying
about the area. Quickly summon Malice to take out some of the
Archanus. But don't focus on them too much because they will keep
respawning. The real targets are the Jenons.
=== TARGET: 4 JENONS ===
I will divide the Jenons into groups, according to their relative
location on the map: Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, and Northwest.
Southeast Jenon
---------------
Have Malice ready to attack because along the wall behind this Jenon
are a bunch of Gunners. There are also a couple Gunners in a cubby
along the east wall just North of the Jenon - be careful. Destroy
the Gunners in the cubby and then use the protruding wall for cover.
Note: Make sure your legions stay behind the wall with because blasts
can still hit them.
The Gunners fire at intervals. After one fires, and there is an
opening, run into the Southeast corner, blasting away with Malice.
Take out all the Gunners first and then summon Guilt for the Jenon.
Note: If while stepping into the corner with Malice, your crest gets
broken, simply step between some Gunners along the wall and
attack them until your Soul Meter fills and you repair your
Malice Crest. (The Gunners can't hit you if you're between
them.)
You'll get a Defense Up S Gem once you destroy the Southeast Jenon.
Now, move along the South wall.
Southwest Jenon
---------------
In a space just before the Southwest corner (a little east), you'll
find a Gunner. Destroy it with Malice. Now, this Jenon is
surrounded by a few floating mines and two Gunners.
Note: The floating mines hurt your legions and Sieg, if you try and
attack them. You can destroy them with the Blasphemy Legion (if
you have it equipped).
Keeping away from the floating mines, destroy each Gunner with Malice.
Then, jump behind the mines and lock-on to the Jenon. Bring out your
trusty friend Guilt Legion and lay into the Jenon. Once you destroy
it, the mines will disappear and you'll get an Attack Up Gem and
Phantom Life.
After that, head up along the west wall.
Northwest Jenon
---------------
Just south of the Northwest corner, two Gunners will appear. Use
Malice to dispose of them. You'll also notice some Ogmas. Guilt
works well against them. Get rid of any more Gunners tucked away
in the corner with Malice, and then use Guilt to destroy the Jenon.
Note: There is also a floating mine here - watch out! There might
also be a Gunner shooting from the East.
You'll get a Defense Up S Gem and some Phantom Life once you destroy
the Northwest Jenon.
Now, head along the North wall to the Northest corner.
Northeast Jenon
---------------
When you reach the Northeast corner, four Gunners will sprout behind
you, and one will spawn to the South. Use Malice to rid yourself of
these nuisances. Also, a Badbh will appear, watch out!
Closer to the Jenon is a floating mine.
Once you destroy this last Jenon, you'll get Phantom Life and an
Attack Up S Gem. A cutscene will show a Seedling appear by the
North Gate. Go there, mighty one.
=== TARGET: SEEDLING ===
When you get to the Seedling, have Malice ready to fire because
three Gunners will spawn behind the Seedling. Two floating mines
will pop up around the Seedling too.
On top of all this, some Ogmas, a Badbh, and a few Archanus will
sprout as well. Use Malice to quickly dispose of the Archanus and
the Gunners. Then, bring out Guilt to take care of the rest. I
would focus on getting the Badbh out of the way because he can be
rather troublesome.
Note: The Badbh might drop a Life Max Up S Gem.
With the Badbh taken care of, don't bother with using any legions to
destroy the Seedling because they'll be hit by the floating mines.
Instead, run up to the Seedling and use Jump Attacks to destroy it.
Try and stay on the Seedling's shadow here. You're less likely to
be hit by the mines. (You could also use Malice to try and shooting
the Seedling from a distance if you want.)
===========================
<<<<< THANATOS CHIP 3 >>>>>
===========================
You'll get a Thanatos Chip for destroying the Seedling.
With that mess out of the way, run through the gate as the screen
swirls and fades.
*=====================================================================*
*//////////////////////* BOSS: 6 ZAGAN BRIGADE *\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\*
*=====================================================================*
This wide open area is home to 6 caged Zagans. These guys are weaker
versions of Verge Zagan from Stage 3. But that doesn't mean they're
easy.
The basic strategy is the same as Verge Zagan. Each Zagan is weak
around the neck. Lock-on to each one and attack with Guilt Legion.
Watch out for claw attacks and tail attacks. These guys will jump
around the arena as well.
There are three waves, where the cages will slowly open.
First Wave: 1 ZAGAN
--------------------
Right away, one will come bounding straight at you. Do your best to
avoid a head butt by running, jumping, and dodging out of its path.
After the initial charge, lock-on to the Zagan and summon Guilt to
attack. Remember to unsummon Guilt before the Zagan take a swing at
your legion.
Note: Zagans might charge around the arena, so keep on your toes.
After knocking the first half off of the Zagan's blue Life Meter, it
will explode. You'll get a Life Recovery S Gem when you beat it, but
watch out . . .
Second Wave: 2 ZAGANS
----------------------
Now, two Zagans will try avenge their downed friend. They will both
charge at you at once, each from a side. Unsummon Guilt and get out
of their way. After the charge, lock-on to one and bring Guilt back
out. Work on the neck of the Zagan.
Note: Keep an eye on when the Zagans are about the charge. (You can
tell by their minute jerking.)_ Also, know where the other
Zagan is in the ring so he doesn't blindside you with a slap to
the head. (Use your Radar to do this.) If you're running low
on life, send Guilt into fight for you while you stay away.
When one goes down, you'll get another Life Recovery S Gem.
Now, lock-on to the other Zagan and repeat the process. When this
one bites the dusts, you'll receive a Soul Recovery S Gem. But
you're not finished quite yet . . .
Third Wave: 3 ZAGANS & FRIENDS
-------------------------------
In this last wave, the remaining Zagans will charge out. Avoid them
(duh). Beat up on some Ogmas that spawn to keep your Soul Meter
filled.
Just lock-on to one Zagan and get Guilt to attack as you go for its
neck. Again, know where the other Zagans are so they don't hit you
out of nowhere.
Focus on one Zagan at a time until they all go down. Pick up any
items that they drop.
After the fight, the Arrogance Crest will appear. Pick it up to pass
the level. Welcome to Intermission!!!
~~ LEGION LAYOUT: GUILT & ARROGANCE or MALICE ~~
-------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------
Scene 1: Destroy the Target! (Badbh & Ogmas)
----------------------------------------------
When you begin, walk on down the stairs to the closed gate.
=== TARGET: BADBH ===
A Badbh will spawn, along with some Ogmas. Lock-on to the Badbh and
take him out with Guilt Legion. Move around him and attack from
behind when you can. When you defeat him, you'll get Phantom Life
and a Soul Max Up S Gem.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 2: Destroy the Target! (Archanus, Gunners, Rudo Garia)
--------------------------------------------------------------
The gate will open and immediately, Archanus will fly in. Summon
Arrogance Legion. Now, press the (T) button to have Arrogance block
attacks by the Archanus. The legion will accumulate energy and blast
it back out, destroying the Archanus.
Note: On the East and West sides of the area are ledges. Jump up on
the ledges to stay out of the battle while Arrogance does the
work for you.
Now, move ahead through the gate and destroy any remaining Archanus.
Ahead of you are two Gunners that fire across your path. Use
Arrogance to destroy them. Pick up any items that they drop.
=== TARGET: RUDO GARIA ===
Straight ahead (across a small bridge)a big ogre thing with a shield
will pop up by a closed gate. He is called a Rudo Garia.
A Rudo Garia takes a long time to destroy. You must first destroy
his shield and them him. He likes to attack by swinging his shield.
It's a slow attack, but it hurts! When his shield is finally broken,
Rudo Garia will spin, sticking out his arms and trying to clothesline
Sieg and his friends.
Back to the game . . . Lock-on to Rudo Garia and send Guilt in to
fight. Be ready to unsummon Guilt before Rudo Garia attacks. You
can get in there too. Get behind Rudo Garia to hit him. If you hit
his shield, it will not hurt him. Use dodge flips (R1+X) to get out
of his way when he attacks.
Note: Careful! On either side of the gate, Gunners create a deadly
crossfire! (If you're using Malice, go ahead and shoot them
down.) If you get close to the gate, the Gunner crossfire will
not hit you. That way you can pummel Rudo Garia without being
hit by the Gunners. Unfortunately, Rudo Garia can still smack
you.
When Rudo Garia goes down, he'll drop a Life Max Up S Gem. Go ahead
and walk through the gate.
------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 3: Destroy the Target! (Rouge Ogma and Ogma buddies)
------------------------------------------------------------
A cutscene will show many Ogmas spawning in the room ahead.
=== TARGET: ROUGE OGMA ===
That Rouge Ogma on the ledge in the center of the area is the primary
target. He likes to breathe fire (whoa, there!) at you. Run up the
stairs to the ledge where he is waiting. Lock-on to him and use Guilt
to punish him. He's relatively easy to dispatch - just stay on him.
Note: Only worry about the other Ogmas if you really want to. Rouge
Ogma goes down quite quickly.
You will get an Attack Up S Gem and Phantom Life once you beat him.
Now, head through the open gate to wtch the screen swirl and fade.
Checkpoint!
----------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 4: Destroy the Target! (Jenons, Gunners, Ogmas - OH MY!)
----------------------------------------------------------------
=== TARGET: 2 JENON ===
This next little bit can be tough and long. Ahead of you is a Jenon
surrounded by Gunners and a floating mine (they will spawn).
On the East and West walls are two Gunners - watch out. Up the
stairs past the First Jenon is another Jenon with Ogmas around it.
Go to this Jenon first. But, watch out for crossfire from the
Gunners as you make your way up to it. When you get up the stairs
to the Jenon, lock-on to it and use Guilt to slap it around. When
you destroy it, you'll be rewarded with Phantom Life and a Soul Max
Up Gem.
Now, make your way back down the stairs and summon Arrogance to help
you take out the Gunners on the East and West walls.
Okay, now you can do a few things here. Either, using Arrogance as
defense from the Gunners surrounding this Jenon, start attacking the
Jenon with Sieg. Or, use Arrogance to take out all the Gunners
around the Jenon first and then attack the Jenon. Be careful,
though, because there is a floating mine behind the Jenon.
I would use Guilt to help you take care of the Jenon, but clear out
some of the Gunners first with Arrogance.
Note: Jump up on the wall surrounding the Jenon to avoid some fire
from the Gunners if you need to.
You'll receive a Life Max Up S Gem and Phantom Life for destroying
the Jenon at the bottom of the stairs.
Now, go up the stairs and into a small corridor that bends east
(right).
---------------------------------------------------------
Scene 5: Destroy the Target! (Jenon & loads of baddies)
---------------------------------------------------------
In this narrow corridor, a Badbh and some things called Cannons,
along with Archanus will greet you. Do you really want to fight
these guys? You can, if you want. But, you don't have to. Just
run and jump over them, heading on to the next open area where some
Ogmas spawn.
Moving ahead, you'll notice a path to the left (north). Turn up
this path to find a closed gate.
=== TARGET: JENON ===
By the sealed gate is your target - a Jenon. Lock-on to it and
summon Guilt to help you. Watch out for attacking Ogmas. When
you beat it, you'll get a Life Max Up S Gem, and the gate will
open.
===========================
<<<<< THANATOS CHIP 4 >>>>>
===========================
But, don't go through it yet. Instead, turn 'round and head left
(east). Slip around a corner to find a blue Cannon.
Jump up on the ledge and pass through an archway to an open
circular area. There you will find a Thanatos Chip. Once you
pick it up, a buncha enemies will sprout. Namely, bird-ish
creatures called Galarges. Fight these guys if you want, but
you don't have to.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Scene 6: Destroy the Target! (Jenon, Ogmas, Gunners, Cannons)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Run back to the gate and pass through it. You will find yourself
in a large room where the path splits East and West. Take either
path and blaze your way down the ramp through some Ogmas (Guilt
helps here).
When you reach the bottom, run behind the pillars to the south and
collect a Life Recovery S Gem and Soul Recovery S Gem.
=== TARGET: JENON ===
Head north to find a sealed gate and a Jenon. Lock-on to the Jenon
and use Guilt to destroy it. You will get an Attack Up S Gem and
Phantom Life for destroying the Jenon.
=== TARGET: CANNONS ===
Immediately after defeating the Jenon, summon Arrogance because many
Gunners will spawn around some Cannons. Your primary targets here
are the cannons.
The Cannons like to move around and lob fireballs at you. Use
Arrogance to block the attack and help destroy them. Also, have
Arrogance het rid of a few Gunners.
Note: Try and stay on the perimeter of this lower area. If you step
in the middle, a barrage of Gunner fire will blow a hole in
Sieg's stomach. Also use the pillars for cover, locking-on to
each target. Hold (R1) and strafe about to keep an eye on your
target.
Gunners will continue spawning until all the cannons have been
destroyed.
Note: Malice Legion works really well here, taking out everything
rather efficiently. But, Arrogance might come in handy later.
When facing the Cannon near the gate to the north, keep close to the
corner of the wall and gate so as not to be slammed by Gunners.
Gunner fire comes from three directions. While you're in the corner,
send Arrogance after the Cannon by locking-on.
Keep going until all Cannons are destroyed. Pick up any items they
drop along the way. Beat up on the Gunners nearby with Sieg to fill
your Soul Meter while Arrogance goes after Cannons. You'll get
Phantom Life for destroying the Cannons.
Now, walk through the open gate. The screen will swirl and fade.
*=====================================================================*
*//////////////////////////* BOSS: MAPONOS *\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\*
*=====================================================================*
A Cutscene will show a plant from the Little Shop of Horrors!
Actually, it's Maponos, and he's tough.
--------------------------------------------------
Here's some things to think about before we begin:
--------------------------------------------------
Defense: You need to handle his line of defense, which consists of
four Laser Cannons. These Laser Cannons shift position and
fire a barrage of lasers across the arena. You can predict
where the laser fire is headed by noticing red lines that
appear on the ground just before they shoot. Find a safe
spot - where the red lines do not reach - to avoid being
hit. You can destroy the Laser Cannons, but they respawn
after a while. Be sure to study the attack patterns of the
Laser Cannons so you will know what it coming.
Items: In the Southwest and Southeast corners of the arena are an
EXP S GEM and a Life Recovery S Gem. Pick them up, be
careful - the Laser Cannons love to shoot in those corners.
Attacking: You must run up and attack Maponos. Keep lock-on to him as
much as you can. He has a protective barrier covering his
base. When you hack at it enough, it will raise a bit,
revealing a vulnerable, chewy, green core. Attack this
green core for massive amounts of damage. But, look out -
the barrier will raise even higher and then suddenly drop,
sending a shockwave through the ground. Be sure to jump
over this shockwave, or Sieg will get tossed to the back of
the arena. (You can tell when the barrier is about to slam
shut. It will bob up and down a bit before it falls.)
Don't stand too close to Maponos when the barrier falls,
because a small shockwave will emanate from the plant as
well as the ground. The small wave from the plant hurts
more than the one on the ground.
After the shockwave, Maponos will follow that up with
tentacles that attack from the ground! The tentacles can
easily dispose of Sieg and his legions, so either stay to
the front (south) of the arena or up close to Maponos when
they attack. (You can predict where the tentacles will
attack as well. Just look for red circles that appear on
the soil moments before the carnage. Stay out of the
circles.)
Repeat this process until Maponos is destroyed.
But wait, it gets even better. After knocking about half
of the life off of Maponos, the Laser Cannons will start
moving around. They will fire out toward the gate (away
from Maponos) and then turn and shoot at Maponos (and
Sieg). It gets hard to find a safe opening to attack
Maponos.
Here's two strategies:
Using Arrogance
---------------
When there is an opening, run back to Maponos and lock Arrogance in a
defensive position to block fire from the Laser Cannons. Now, whack
away at Maponos' defensive barrier until it raises. Notice when it
is about to slam back down and run out to the front of the arena
(toward the gate). Avoid the shockwave by jumping.
Note: When the protective barrier falls, the Laser Cannons will
momentarily cease fire.
If you are too close to Maponos, the small shockwave by the plant
will still slam you, even if you jump over the wave on the ground.
Now, after avoiding the shockwaves, watch out for the tentacles.
(They slap you for about half your life.) Go to a safe area like
near the gate.
Now, go back to Maponos and attack again. You can summon Guilt to
help you beat up on the core, if you want - just unsummon the before
the barrier falls.
When you knock Maponos down to where his Life Meter shows only Yellow,
the Laser Cannons will begin firing inward at Maponos. Summon
Arrogance and lock them in a defensive position to block the laser
fire and continue hacking at the protective barrier of Maponos. Now,
when it raises and slames, it will slam three times instead of just
once. This will send three shockwaves rumbling through the ground at
you. Get away and be ready.
After the tentacles raise, you can either repeat the process with
Arrogance or summon Guilt and send them in to help you raise the
barrier and do more damage.
Note: If you send in Guilt now, unsummon them before the Laser Cannons
fire at Maponos. Get Sieg to stand in the Northeast or
Northwest corner of the arena to avoid Laser Cannon fire.
Using Malice
------------
If you decided to use Malice instead of Arrogance, use Malice to
quickly destroy all of the laser cannons. Then, summon Guilt and
lock-on to Maponos. Attack his protective barrier to expose his core.
Before the protective barrier drops, unsummon Guilt so they don't get
hit, then get away and jump over the shockwave. Avoid the tentacles
too by going to a safe place like the door. Use Malice again to
destroy any Laser Cannons that might spawn.
When the Laser Cannons begin firing in at Maponos and you, either get
in a corner close to Maponos where they can't hit you, or use Malice
to blast the Laser Cannons away again.
Be ready, because now the protective barrier will slam three times in
a row!
When you finally turn Maponos into Caesar's Salad, you'll get the
Flawed Crest. Pick it up to end the nightmare - for now . . .
--------------------------------------------------
Scene 1: Destroy the Target! (Balors & Archanus)
--------------------------------------------------
Sieg will be dropped by the shore. Guess what? A band of Balors are
waiting for him. Summon Guilt and destroy them all.
Note: Now is a good time to practice the new Ground Zero move that
sets enemies ablaze. To use it, hold down the (S) button then
release.
===========================
<<<<< THANATOS CHIP 5 >>>>>
===========================
If you want to look for a Thanatos Chip, head east of where you begin,
at the top. (Watch out for any mines.) Once you destroy the Cannon,
the Thanatos Chip will appear. (You might have to wait until after
Stage 9 when you acquire the Map Selector and can replay this level
=== TARGET: BADBH ===
After the Balors will come a wave of Archanus and a Badbh. Use
Flawed or Malice to dispose of the Archanus. Pick up any items that
drop.
Note: If you're using Flawed here, lock-on to each Archanus. Also,
use Ground Zero here too, to set some of the Archanus on fire.
(If Flawed Crest gets shattered, just summon Guilt turn to the
Using Guilt, focus on the Badbh, once the Archanus are gone. The
Badbh will drop a Life Max Up S Gem.
Now, head west and through the open gate. The scene will swirl and
path turns right, or south, some more Ogmas will charge around the
corner. Use Guilt again to put them in their place.
After this, unsummon Guilt and run around the corner to find some
Gunners shooting at you. For this next little bit, just jump over
all the enemies (Ogmas, mines, Gunners, etc.) and follow the path to
the right. Weave to the left (south) past more Gunners and run on
down the trail. Your real target will spawn ahead.
=== TARGET: JENON ===
A cutscene will illustrate a Jenon spawning in front of you near a
gate, along with four Gunners and some floating mines. Oh, and
behind you up the path, more Gunners and Ogmas will appear.
Look scary? Don't worry. Just run toward the Jenon and jump over
the enemies to get back behind the Jenon. You should land between
the sealed gate and the Jenon. You have a very low probability of
being hit back here.
Note: If, when jumping behind the Jenon, you land behind one of the
Gunners and get stuck, just use Malice or Flawed to destroy it.
Then get behind the Jenon.
Now, behind the Jenon, lock-on to it and smother it with Guilt
(HA!). Also, use Ground Zero (hold (S) then release) to set the
Jenon and everything around it on fire.
You'll get Phantom Life and a Life Max Up S Gem for beating it to
the ground.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Scene 3: Destroy the Target! (Ogmas, Badbh, Gunners . . .)
-----------------------------------------------------------
Moving through the gate, you'll notice the path bends North (left).
Be ready because Ogmas will jump out - literally. A few Ogmas will
leap from a cliff on the right and try and pounce on you. Let them
jump down and then run in with Guilt Legion on patrol.
Now, make your way down to another gate where a Badbh and some Gunners
will spawn, among other things.
=== TARGET: BADBH ===
Use Malice or Flawed to dispatch the annoting Gunners and Cannons in
this area first. (There are also Ogmas and mines here.) Then,
lock-on to the Badbh and bust out Guilt. Remember, move around and
attack the Badbh from behind.
You will get Phantom Life and a Defense Max Up S Gem.
Move through the now open gate and turn right. Head East across a
bridge and prepare for pandemonium!
*//////////////////////////* BOSS: 3 DANUS *\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\*
*=====================================================================*
A Danu is an almost invisible bi-pedal monster that is special -
meaning he cannot be directly damaged by Sieg. Only Sieg's legions
can destroy a Danu. Another down side to Special Monsters is that
they can wipe out your legions in basically one slap.
Note: Although this is the "Boss Fight" for the level, there is no
checkpoint before it. So, if Sieg dies, you'll have to replay
the level again from almost the very beginning.
Now, let's get back to the game. Just off the bridge you crossed,
there is an open area. This is where the Danus are nesting. There
are also Cannons resting on ledges above the area as well as Gunners
and Ogmas.
Using Flawed:
-------------
Have Sieg stay back by the bridge and lock-on to on Danu at a time
and send Flawed or Guilt in to attack. Remember to unsummon your
legion when it is about to get hit.
Sieg can beat up on smaller enemies to keep his Soul Meter up and
his legions healthy. (But use Soul Recovery Gems, should you need
to.)
If you send in Flawed to attack a Danu, have them hit the monster
and then immediately unsummon them before the Danu has time to react.
Then, summon Flawed again and send them in to attack. Repeat like a
broken record.
Using Malice:
-------------
Just after crossing the bridge, you'll see a stone ledge to your
right. Jump up a few ledges until you get to the top by the gate.
Here, summon Malice and destroy the Cannon up there. Then, staying
on the ledge, just use Malice to shoot down into the carnage. (Use
Sniper if you want to.) Don't let Malice fall off the edge of the
ledge or it'll get promptly flattened by a Danu. If it does fall off
the ledge, unsummon it quickly and then summon it again so it appears
back on the ledge. Keep shooting from up on high and watch as the
Danus' Life Meter goes down.
Note: If you have already upgraded Flawed Legion to Double Raid, use
it to double-jump up to the highest ledges over the gate and
grab some items (Soul and Life Gems) up above.
Once you blow away the Danus, move through the now open gate and
across the bridge to a little area to the south where the Hatred
Crest is waiting. Grab it.
~~ LEGION LAYOUT (MANDITORY): FLAWED & HATRED ~~
-------------------------------------------------
Note: Make sure that Flawed has been upgraded to Enchant Level 2 so
Sieg can perform Double Raid (Double-jump). You need this and
Hatred Legion to get some secrets, goodies, and a Thanatos Chip
on this stage.
A few things to ponder before traversing the stage:
1) This level is mildly open-ended if have Flawed Legion equipped
with Double Raid. You can use Double-Jump to explore hidden
areas in the level and even skip portions of the level.
2) If you have to, return to the Intermission screen to level-up
Hatred Legion's Attack and Defense levels a bit.
3) Some hidden items in this stage are behind certain gates that
can only be destroyed by specific legions (i.e. A Bomb Gate can
only be destroyed by Blasphemy and a Power Gate can only be
broken by Hatred.) Items behind Bomb Gates are best collected
later, when you gain the ability to return to this stage. (But
I'll tell you about them.) This means don't trouble yourself
with them right now because . . .
4) . . . you will need Flawed and Hatred Legions equipped to
acquire the Thanatos Chip hidden in this level.
So anyway . . . on with the game.
--------------------------------------------------------
Scene 1: Destroy the Target! (Zeodagdas, Badbhs, Jenon)
--------------------------------------------------------
Sieg begins on a stone path. Run on ahead to meet some Zeodagdas that
spawn. (They will continuously respawn.) Use Hatred Legion to help
you blaze a path.
=== TARGET: JENON (OPTIONAL) ===
Ahead, you will notice an archway.
Note on Bomb Gate: Just before the archway, there is a ledge to the
right (east). Just under the ledge on the left
(west) is a Bomb Gate. You can use Blasphemy to
destroy it. Behind the Bomb Gate is a Life Max Up
S Gem. To get it, jump up on the ledge across from
it and unsummon Blasphemy. Now use Crimson Carnage
((T) button) to kick a bomb across the way and
blast the gate. Double-jump across the gap and
grab the gem.
Note on Target: I say this target is optional because you can skip
it all together. If you want to skip it, and get
on with the level, simply double jump onto the
first ledge to the east, just before the archway.
You will land on another path where more Zeodagdas
sprout. Now, run left (North) to another ledge.
Double-jump up there. A small wooden bridge will
be in front of you, along with a sealed gate. Your
next target will materialize here. (If you chose
to skip the Jenon target, just skip down in this
walkthrough to the section labeled: "TARGET: BADBH
ON BRIDGE" under Scene 2.)
Okay, if you choose to find the optional Jenon Target, do this. From
where you begin the stage, run down under the archway and past the
Zeodagdas to a small ramp by a stonewall. The Jenon is here. Also,
two Badbhs will spawn. The Badbhs pose a bit of a threat, so maneuver
around the Jenon. (The Badbhs will respawn if you destroy them. But,
you will get Phantom Life for your troubles.)
Use Hatred to focus on the Jenon (while locked-on to it). Keep away
from the Badbhs and beat up on smaller enemies if the Hatred Crest
gets broken. That way, you can restore the Crest and bring the legion
back to life.
Note on Bomb Gate: Behind the Jenon in the stone is a ledge. You can
double-jump up here to find a Bomb Gate. If you
have Blasphemy Legion equipped, use it to blast
open the gate and find a Defense Up L Gem, an
Attack Up L Gem, and an EXP L Gem. After blowing
up the gate and grabbing the items, you can jump
over the ledge to the East to skip Scenes 1 & 2 of
the stage.
Sorry about all the clutter here. Anyway, once you destroy the Jenon,
you will receive Phantom Life and a Life Max Up L Gem.
----------------------------------------------------------
Scene 2: Destroy the Target! (Badbh and a buncha baddies)
----------------------------------------------------------
After disposing of the Jenon, move through the open gate to find a
small path where many Zeodagdas appear. If you want to, you can
continue South along that path. Many more Zeodagdas, as well as
Galarges (those bird-like things) will pop up here. The path wraps
around to a gate by a wooden bridge. Use Hatred Legion to pummel
the enemies along the path, should you choose to follow it. (When
you take down the Galarges, you'll be rewarded with a bit of Phantom
Life.)
If you don't really want to deal with the madness of Galarges and
Zeodagdas, then right after you pass through the sealed gate where
you beat down the Jenon, there is a ledge. Double-jump up to find
yourself at the next sealed gate by the bridge. This can shave off
some time. (Don't you just love all the options you have here?)
