| ITRD | Introduction |
-----------------------

Cabela's African Safari is one of the hunting games commissioned by the
hunting supply company Cabela's. In this game, you will hunt many big game
animals such as the lion, elephant, rhinocerous and buffalo... as well as
the smaller ones, like the many species of tiny antelopes that you'll
encounter. The game's main mode, Safari Hunt, takes place in six African
nations: South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Tanzania.

In terms of gameplay, the game is a third-person shooting game, with heavy
emphasis on taking scoped shots with rifles and other long-range weapons. The
animals behave intelligently and will either flee from you or attack you when
they spot you, and you can crouch down and hide behind objects to make
yourself less visible to them.

This FAQ gives full guides on how to complete every mission, guiding you to
the specified animals and giving general tips on how best to bag them. It also
takes you through the Xbox 360 version's achievements. This guide was written
with the Xbox 360 version in mind, but should work equally well for the other
console versions.

| GMDS | Game Modes |
---------------------

Once you begin a game, you'll be asked to choose a hunter. This has no effect
on gameplay beyond being your avatar for the game.

The next decision is what difficulty you'll be playing at.

| NOVICE | Obviously the easiest mode. Animals appear on your map, and
you can see their field of vision too. You have 14 days to
complete all of the hunts in each country.

| EXPERIENCED | Medium difficulty. Animals appear on the map, but no field
of vision. You have 10 days to complete all hunts in each
                country.

| EXPERT | No animals appear on the map. You have to hunt by watching
your crosshairs; they'll turn red as you approach your target.
Hunting smaller animals is significantly more difficult in
this mode. You have 7 days to complete each country's hunts.

Next you'll be taken to the main menu, where you can choose which game mode to
play. However, until you've gone through Safari Hunt mode, you may not be able
to play Wing Shooting Tournament, Open Safari or Dangerous Seven modes.

| SAFARI HUNT | The main mode of the game. Sixty missions, six countries
and over 100 animals to hunt. Look in the Safari Hunt
                    section below for more information.

| INSTANT HUNT | Enter a random hunting mission from the Safari Hunt mode.

| OPEN SAFARI | Play any country and mission that you've already cleared.

| OPEN SEASON | Specify which animals you'd like to hunt and create a
                    custom mission.

| DANGEROUS SEVEN | Just the Trophy Hunts from Safari Hunt mode. The Crocodile
and Hippopotamus are split into two missions.

| WING SHOOTING | Just the bird shooting missions, arranged and scored in a
                    kind of "tournament".

The remaining menu options are OPTIONS, which allows you to change the audio
and gameplay options, and EXTRAS, which leads to the game's credits and
downloadable content menus. Currently, there is no downloadable content for
this game, and nothing has yet been announced.

You can press Y to access a tutorial. You'll be presented with a series of
missions designed to teach you how to play the game. Note that the tutorials
will use the Novice difficulty map settings, so it may not help you so much
on Expert.

-------------------
| GMPL | Gameplay |
-------------------

This section details how the game is played, from hunting animals to using the
PDA screen.

-------
Hunting
-------
When you start a mission, you'll usually have to find the animals you need to
hunt. On Novice and Experienced difficulties, you can do this by looking at
the map screen in the top-right corner of the screen. The animals in the area
will appear as coloured squares:

YELLOW squares are animals that are docile and will run away from you if you
enter their field of vision.

RED squares are animals that are aggressive and will attack you if you enter
their field of vision.

GREEN squares are your targets. You won't be able to tell whether they're
docile or aggressive, though.

On Expert difficulty, the animals will not appear on the map. To find them,
look at the ring around the crosshairs. As you get closer to the animal,
the ring will begin to turn red - flashing red when you're very close. Then
look around and see if you can spot the animal, and take the shot as normal.
You'll have to keep your eye on it in case it runs away.

When you find your target, try to stand a safe distance away so that it
doesn't notice you and either run away or attack. Use the LT button to zoom
in with your current weapon, and line up your target in the crosshairs. Fire
with the RT button; you'll injure the animal, or kill it if you got a
headshot.

---------------
Being Penalized
---------------
Every time you kill an animal that isn't the one you are told to hunt, you
will be told off by the guide and will lose 100 points. If you do this three
times in the same mission, you will automatically fail the mission. This isn't
usually a problem in anything other than Take the Leader missions, where lots
of animals are packed close together and you must only shoot the larger ones.

To avoid being penalized for shooting an aggressive animal, you must shoot
them in Adrenalin mode (see below).

One achievement, Ambient Guardian, requires that you go through Safari Hunt
mode without being penalized. If you are penalized, you can restart the
mission from the pause menu and try again. If you accidentally end the mission
after getting penalized, all you can do is choose Restart Country and redo all
of the missions again.

--------------------------
Hunter Sense and Adrenalin
--------------------------
Two functions specific to this game are Hunter Sense (RB) and Adrenalin (LB).

Hunter Sense is essentially "bullet time". Using it slows down time for
everyone (including you) and drains the green bar underneath your weapon
display. Its main use is to target and shoot moving animals more easily.
It can also be used to line up a perfect headshot. However, everything you
do will be slowed - even reloading.

Adrenalin can only be used just before an aggressive animal attacks you.
You will automatically draw your pistol and aim at the animal; a red circle
will appear on it, and the closer you shoot within that circle, the less
bullets it will take to kill the animal. Adrenalin is the only way you can
take care of an aggressive non-game animal without being penalized by the
guide. You can shoot game animals in Adrenalin mode if you want, and it'll
count just as if you'd used a rifle or whatever other weapon.

-------
The PDA
-------
Press Back to access the PDA screen. Here you can press Y to read messages
from the guide, porter and tracker. The PDA is only available in Safari Hunt
mode.

The GUIDE will tell you about the animal and where they like to live.

The PORTER will tell you which weapon to use.

The TRACKER will tell you about the terrain.

There's a full map of the area displayed to the right. Animals are not shown
on this map, but bug spots (for Tracking Hunt missions) and bait spots are
shown as red dots.

Press X and then left or right to check your total statistics, the list of
animals for the country you're playing, and any messages and reports you've
received during the mission.

-------
Weapons
-------
There are four different classes of weapons to use. You can unlock more
weapons by earning points during Safari Hunt mode. There's no need to go out
of your way to get points; on a typical playthough, you should unlock all of
them.

Weapons marked CUSTOM are special variants of the standard weapons. They have
greater attributes (damage, range, reload time) and should usually be used in
place of the regular weapon as soon as they become available.

RIFLES are your main weapon, and the most numerous. They are usually used
to hunt for ground animals from a distance. You start with a 1X Zoom scope,
but can upgrade to a 4X Zoom as you progress through Safari Hunt.

SHOTGUNS are only recommended for use in bird shooting missions. There are
two shotguns available; they only have a two-round capacity, but are better
for shooting down birds than rifles.

CROSSBOWS are used in special Crossbow Hunt missions. There's no real reason
to use them otherwise; they need to be reloaded after every shot and have a
slow reload rate. There are two crossbow models available.

PISTOLS are your backup weapons, used for shooting aggressive animals in
Adrenalin mode. You can press Right on the d-pad to automatically switch to
the last pistol you equipped. Pistols can be useful outside of Adrenalin,
especially for shooting smaller animals at close range, or as an alternate
weapon in Crossbow Hunt missions.

---------------------------
| SFHM | Safari Hunt Mode |
---------------------------

Upon starting Safari Hunt mode, you will proceed to the first country, South
Africa. You can talk to the tracker to get more information on the animals
you'll be hunting, or the porter to get information on the weapons available
to you. To start a mission, talk to the guide, who will be standing by the
jeep.

You'll be given a selection of missions to choose from. Each mission takes
place at a different time of day, and some missions overlap, so you won't
always be able to play every mission that's offered on the same day.

This is where the number of days you have to play each country in comes into
play: if you don't complete all the missions by the end of the allotted time
period (14 days for Novice, 10 for Experienced and 7 for Expert), you will
not receive any points for any missions you do past this time. Realistically,
this doesn't matter; there are no leaderboards! Points only matter for the
purposes of unlocking new weapons.

Once you have played all of the missions, you will be offered the trophy
hunt. Complete this mission to move on to the next country. When all six
countries are complete, the game ends.

------------------------
| MSTY | Mission Types |
------------------------

There are six regular types of mission, and one special type.

------------
Regular Hunt
------------
The standard hunting scenario. Walk around the map searching for and bagging
your targets.

---------
Wing Hunt
---------
Similar to a Regular Hunt, but hunting for birds. Shotguns are the recommended
weapon here. Each Wing Hunt mission has an associated achievement - Perfect
Wing - that requires that you not miss any shots in the mission.

--------------
Boat Wing Hunt
--------------
Very similar to Wing Hunts, but played on a moving boat. Shortly before
time runs out, the boat will start to return to shore, and no more birds will
appear.

-------------
Tracking Hunt
-------------
A Regular Hunt, but with clusters of red bugs in various places around the
map. Each bug spot gives a direction to follow in order to find the next one.
The animal will not appear on the map until all of the bug spots have been
found and activated, so searching for the animal before you've found the bugs
will get you nowhere.

---------
Herd Hunt
---------
A hunt played from the jeep. You will come up alongside a herd of animals,
and you must take down a set number of them. These are usually the easiest
missions in the game - the animals are so close together, almost no targeting
is required.

---------------
Take the Leader
---------------
Played from the jeep, like a Herd Hunt, but you must only take the larger and
darker specimins from the herd. Shooting any others will get you penalized.

-----------
Trophy Hunt
-----------
A combination of Regular Hunt and Take the Leader, used exclusively for
Dangerous Seven trophy hunts. Shoot only the larger, darker target animals
or you'll be penalized.

-----------------------

You can use the code to the right of the mission name to easily jump to the
right section in the FAQ. The missions are listed in roughly the order in
which they appear n Safari Hunt mode, but the actual order in which you do

-----------------------
| SAF0 | SOUTH AFRICA |
-----------------------

--------------------------------------------------
| SAF1 | Hunt 5 Turtle Doves in the Palm Forest! |
--------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Wing Hunt
ANIMAL : Turtle Dove
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : [Shotgun] 12 GA
TIME : 2 hours

Your first wing shooting mission. A large group of doves will fly out of the
bushes to your left; you can shoot as many as you can from that group. They
will then circle around in the sky above you, where you can pick them off at
your leisure. If you're going for Perfect Wing, remember to aim well and use
Hunter Sense if you're not confident that you can get it at full speed.

------------------------------------------------
| SAF2 | Hunt 3 Impala near the Karoo Plateau! |
------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Regular Hunt
ANIMAL : Impala
AMBIENT : Wildebeest, Rhino
WEAPON : .270
TIME : 3 hours

Look sharp! There's a rhino to your right, and it'll charge right at you. Use
Adrenalin and take it down. To your left, you'll see a herd of wildebeest. Go
past the first watering hole and head southeast to the second, where there
will be three impala on the water's edge. Take them out from a distance to
avoid them running off.

---------------------------------------------------------
| SAF3 | Track and hunt 1 Dik-dik along the Vaal River! |
---------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Tracking Hunt
ANIMAL : Dik-dik
AMBIENT : Wildebeest, African Wild Dog
WEAPON : .243
TIME : 5 hours

On tracking missions, you need to find a clusters of red bugs and go in the
direction that they reveal to find the next group. Once you're at the end of
the trail, the animal will appear. An African Wild Dog will be in your way;
shoot it in Adrenalin mode to avoid being penalized. The bugs will take you
across the river, where the Dik-dik awaits in a small valley.

------------------------------------------------------
| SAF4 | Hunt 2 Top Trophy Wildebeest from the herd! |
------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Take the Leader
ANIMAL : Wildebeest
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : .300
TIME : 3 hours

Your first Take the Leader mission. Remember, you must take only the larger,
darker wildebeest or you'll be penalized (and lose your chance at Ambient
Guardian unless you restart the mission). Your targets will start off in the
middle of the herd but will pull ahead shortly after the start of the mission.
There are also a couple at the back.

----------------------------------------------------
| SAF5 | Hunt 4 Springboks near the Karoo Plateau! |
----------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Herd Hunt
ANIMAL : Springbok
AMBIENT : African Wild Dog
WEAPON : .243
TIME : 7 hours

An inordinately large amount of time for a very simple mission. You're on foot
for this herd hunt - just turn around and let them have it. There are no size
restrictions. This is the best mission to get the Hunter Super Sense
achievement on - just equip a shotgun, aim at the herd, activate Hunter Sense
and blast away.

-----------------------------------------------
| SAF6 | Hunt 4 Duikers along the Vaal River! |
-----------------------------------------------
MISSION : Regular Hunt
ANIMAL : Duiker
AMBIENT : African Wild Dog, South Cape Kudu
WEAPON : .243
TIME : 6 hours

Meet the Duiker. Cute, like Bambi, right? If you're playing on expert, this
tiny little antelope (and its cousins later on) might be this game's toughest
challenge. They're small and hard to spot, fast, and have a tendency to
disappear into the bushes at the slightest noise. Fear not, for I am here to
give you their locations. The first is to the south, on the grassy plain along
the map boundary. The next two are drinking at the river on the south bank, to
the far east near the boundary again. Your last target is north of the river,
behind a large tree. It's tough to get a headshot on something this small, so
it'll take three or four shots to the body to kill one.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
| SAF7 | Hunt 5 Yellow Billed Ducks in the Palm Forest from the boat! |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Wing Hunt
ANIMAL : Yellow Billed Duck
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : [Shotgun] 12 GA
TIME : 2 hours

You might have trouble spotting the ducks - they blend with the trees quite
well. Although there are many around, not all of them will venture out into
the open, so keep a good lookout in the skies for when they do.

----------------------------------------------------------------
| SAF8 | Hunt 5 Black Wildebeests on the Northern Cape Plains! |
----------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Herd Hunt
ANIMAL : Black Wildebeest
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : .300
TIME : 2 hours

Herd missions without size requirements are the easiest ones in the game. All
you need to do is equip the right rifle (the .300 in this case) and fire into
the herd of wildebeest. You'll usually get one kill per shot.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
| SAF9 | Hunt 2 Warthogs near the Lesotho Highlands using the crossbow! |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Crossbow Hunt
ANIMAL : Warthog
AMBIENT : Duiker, Kudu
WEAPON : [Crossbow] Pro Elite
TIME : 4 hours

In crossbow missions, you're not allowed to use the scope, or switch to rifles
or shotguns. You are, however, allowed to use a pistol if you want. The
warthogs are southeast of the watering hole; they are agressive animals and
will charge at you, so you should be able to get a good headshot on them when
they're facing you.

-----------------------------------------------------
| TRP1 | Hunt 1 Black Rhino near the Karoo Plateau! |
-----------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Trophy Hunt
ANIMAL : Rhino
AMBIENT : African Wild Dog
WEAPON : .505
TIME : 4 hours

Trophy missions are similar to Take the Leader in that they have a size
requirement. Any rhinos that are not the right size will penalize you if you
shoot them. As you approach the watering hole, you should see one rhino
straight ahead; there's another to the left behind the rocks, and another
near the watering hole. These three are not your targets; shoot them only
in Adrenalin mode. Your black rhino target is to the northwest of the
watering hole. It's in the shade, so you might not see it until it decides
to charge at you!

------------------
| NAM0 | NAMIBIA |
------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
| NAM1 | Hunt 5 Egyptian Geese in the South Valley! |
-----------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Wing Hunt
ANIMAL : Egyptian Geese
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : [Shotgun] 12 GA
TIME : 3 hours

Birds will start to emerge as you approach the first bend. Egyptian Geese are
one of the largest species of birds you'll be hunting, so you should have no
trouble targeting and picking them off.

-----------------------------------------------
| NAM2 | Track and hunt 1 Roan in Damaraland! |
-----------------------------------------------
MISSION : Tracking Hunt
ANIMAL : Roan
AMBIENT : Hartebeest
WEAPON : .338
TIME : 4 hours

Follow the bugs in a diamond pattern until you're near your starting location
again. The roan will appear to the south, just past the large tree. Crouch
and approach slowly, then take your shot carefully.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
| NAM3 | Hunt 5 Spur Winged Geese along the Orange River from the boat! |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Boat Wing Hunt
ANIMAL : Spur Winged Goose
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : [Shotgun] 12 GA
TIME : 3 hours

Lots of large birds will burst out of the bushes almost immediately, so this
really shouldn't be a problematic mission.

------------------------------------------------------
| NAM4 | Hunt 2 Top Trophy Wildebeest from the herd! |
------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Take the Leader
ANIMAL : Wildebeest
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : .300
TIME : 4 hours

Two larger wildebeest will pull ahead of the herd right at the start of the
mission, and shouldn't get mixed up with their smaller bretheren, so it
should be a breeze to pick them out of the crowd.

--------------------------------------------------------------
| NAM5 | Hunt 5 Kalahari Gemsbucks near the Kalahari Desert! |
--------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Herd Hunt
ANIMAL : Kalahari Gemsbuck
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : .338
TIME : 3 hours

The herd is to your right; the rifle is the .338. Go crazy! You should only
need one magazine of bullets to finish this mission.

---------------------------------------------------
| NAM6 | Hunt 3 Zebras near the Petrified Forest! |
---------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Regular Hunt
ANIMAL : Zebra
AMBIENT : Leopard
WEAPON : .338
TIME : 4 hours

Your first two Zebras are south of your starting location. You won't have to
walk far, but they'll scatter as you come close. There are also two leopards
close by, so be careful. Go south from here, towards the river. You should
be able to see three more on the bank, and you can get a good shot from the
small hill that you should be standing on.

----------------------------------------------------
| NAM7 | Hunt 3 Steenbucks along the Orange River! |
----------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Regular Hunt
ANIMAL : Steenbuck
AMBIENT : Zebra
WEAPON : .243
TIME : 5 hours

You'll find the first steenbuck drinking from the river on the south bank,
east of your starting location, and the second further along the same
bank. From that location, head north and you should find the third one
near the map boundary, in the shade.

---------------------------------------------------------
| NAM8 | Hunt 3 Kudus in Damaraland using the crossbow! |
---------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Crossbow Hunt
ANIMAL : Kudu
AMBIENT : Hartebeest
WEAPON : [Crossbow] XS
TIME : 4 hours

Don't get confused between the similarly-sized Hartebeest and Kudu. The
first two are to the west, across the river's vertical section. The last
target is in the far north, next to the map boundary. In crossbow missions,
you can use the pistol too.

-----------------------------------------------
| NAM9 | Hunt 5 Klipspringers in Damaraland! |
-----------------------------------------------
MISSION : Regular Hunt
ANIMAL : Klipspringer
AMBIENT : Kudu, African Wild Dog
WEAPON : .243
TIME : 4 hours

Potentially the hardest mission in the game if you're playing on Expert. You
don't have a lot of time to run around searching for these tiny antelope, so
success will hinge on finding them and taking them out quickly before they
can run too far. From the starting point, head south, towards the bridge over
the river. Stand on the elevated ground to the left just before the bridge and
look across the river; you'll see one Klipspringer standing on a rock in the
distance. Equip the .243 and take a shot or two; it'll probably start moving
towards the river. Meet it on the way and finish it off, then get north of the
river and follow it along to the east to spot three Klipspringer by the edge
of the lake. Unless you're very lucky and get perfect headshots, you're
probably not going to get all three without one or two of them running away.
Take your shot from this distance and attempt to get one of them, then head
in the direction that the others ran to try to find them. Once you have all
three, you'll find your last target slightly northwest of the river.

-----------------------------------------------------------
| TRP2 | Hunt 1 Trophy Leopard near the Petrified Forest! |
-----------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Trophy Hunt
ANIMAL : Leopard
AMBIENT : Zebra
WEAPON : .375
TIME : 3 hours

Go northwest. On this mission, you'll have to pick out the largest leopard
and leave the smaller ones alone, which can be difficult if you're trying to
shoot from a distance. Proceed northwest to the edge of the map; the leopard
closest to the edge is a small one and will get you penalized, while the one
standing on the rocks further the east of here is the one that you want.

-------------------
| BOT0 | BOTSWANA |
-------------------

------------------------------------------------
| BOT1 | Hunt 3 Lechwes in the Okavango Delta! |
------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Regular Hunt
ANIMAL : Lechwe
AMBIENT : Buffalo
WEAPON : .300
TIME : 4 hours

You'll start, rather unhelpfully, in the northwest corner of the map. Your
targets are in the southeast corner. Once you've made your way across the
whole map, avoiding or taking down buffalo the entire way, you'll see all
three in the bushes together. Shooting one of them will probably make them
scatter, so a bit of searching may be in order if you're playing on Expert.

-----------------------------------------------
| BOT2 | Hunt 2 Zebras in the Okavango Delta! |
-----------------------------------------------
MISSION : Regular Hunt
ANIMAL : Zebra
AMBIENT : Ostrich
WEAPON : .338
TIME : 3 hours

Look past the ostriches to the north and you should find your two zebras
drinking at some water. You can very easily get two headshots in the same
Hunter Sense usage, scoring the Hunter Super Sense achievement if you don't
already have it from the Springboks in South Africa.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
| BOT3 | Hunt 5 Turtle Doves near the Linyati Swamp from the boat! |
--------------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Boat Wing Hunt
ANIMAL : Turtle Dove
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : .410 O&U
TIME : 3 hours

Not much to say for this one. The birds can blend with the trees and so
can be difficult to see until they come out into the open. When they do,
just point, aim and shoot.

--------------------------------------------------
| BOT4 | Hunt 2 Ostriches in the Chobe Savannah! |
--------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Regular Hunt
ANIMAL : Ostrich
AMBIENT : Giraffe, Cheetah
WEAPON : .300
TIME : 3 hours

An easy one. Walk straight ahead from where you start; you'll pass a giraffe
or two and reach a small rock. Get on top of that and the two ostrich are
straight ahead of you. One shot to the body from the .300 will take out each
ostrich. You could use this mission to try for the Hunter Super Sense
achievement.

----------------------------------
| BOT5 | Hunt 2 baited Leopards! |
----------------------------------
MISSION : Baiting Hunt
ANIMAL : Leopard
AMBIENT : Lechwe
WEAPON : .375
TIME : 3 hours

Your first baiting hunt. Go towards the baited area; you'll meet a leopard on
the way, which will most likely attack you. You'll have to shoot it with
Adrenalin or get a good headshot with your rifle. Two more will appear when
you get closer to the bait, and it's the same deal with them.

------------------------------------------------------------
| BOT6 | Hunt 2 Top Trophy South Cape Kudus from the herd! |
------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Take the Leader
ANIMAL : South Cape Kudu
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : .338
TIME : 4 hours

Another herd mission, but one with a size requirement. You must hit the
larger, darker Kudu, or you'll be penalized. Use the .338, and have patience:
the grass makes it hard to see what you're aiming at. Use Hunter Sense when
you have a clear view of the herd, and aim well. There are larger ones are at
the front of the herd and a couple along the side. Remember, if you're going
for Ambient Guardian and get penalized, you can always press Start and choose
Restart Map.

------------------------------------------------------------
| BOT7 | Hunt 5 Spur Winged Geese outside the Great Karoo! |
------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Wing Hunt
ANIMAL : Spur Winged Goose
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : [Shotgun] 12 GA
TIME : 3 hours

A cluster of geese will fly straight at you almost as soon as you start the
level. Despite the shotgun's two-round capacity, you should be able to get all
you need from this group.

-------------------------------------------------------
| BOT8 | Hunt 5 Buffalo on the Makgadikgadi Salt Pan! |
-------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Herd Hunt
ANIMAL : Buffalo
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : .416
TIME : 3 hours

Switch to the .416 and fire into the herd until you've hit five buffalo. There
is no size requirement for this mission, so while the bigger ones will give
you more points, it's not necessary.

-------------------------------------------------------
| BOT9 | Track and hunt 1 Bushbuck in Chobe Savannah! |
-------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Tracking Hunt
ANIMAL : Bushbuck
AMBIENT : Ostrich, Elephant
WEAPON : .270
TIME : 3 hours

Follow the red bugs around the map until you reach the northwest area, near
a watering hole. When you hit the last bug spot, you'll most likely get the
attention of the nearby elephant - use Adrenalin and shoot it down as normal.
The Bushbuck will most likely have run to the south; if it's always ahead of
you, remember to crouch to lessen its field of vision.

---------------------------------------------------------
| TRP3 | Hunt 1 Trophy Elephant near the Linyati Swamp! |
---------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Trophy Hunt
ANIMAL : Elephant
AMBIENT : Giraffe
WEAPON : .600
TIME : 2 hours

Like all trophy missions, you'll need to hunt only the darker elephants - any
others will penalize you. If you're not sure that you have the right one, get
it to chase you and shoot it down in Adrenalin mode. But this time, the
trophy is easy to find. From the starting position, go west along the map
boundary until you can see two elephants and a giraffe to the north. Either
one of these elephants will do for your trophy. They'll most likely spot you
and come running, so one straight shot to the head with the .600 will do the
trick.

-------------------
| ZIM0 | ZIMBABWE |
-------------------

----------------------------------
| ZIM1 | Track and hunt 1 Eland! |
----------------------------------
MISSION : Tracking Hunt
ANIMAL : Eland
AMBIENT : Sable
WEAPON : .338
TIME : 2 hours

Follow the red bugs to the east. The Eland appears to the south of the last
bug location. Crouch down and approach it until you can see enough of it to
take a shot.

-------------------------------------------------------
| ZIM2 | Hunt 2 Grey Rheboks near the Zimbabwe Ruins! |
-------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Regular Hunt
ANIMAL : Grey Rhebok
AMBIENT : Waterbuck
WEAPON : .270
TIME : 4 hours

Your targets are to the south and slightly west of your starting point. There
isn't really any way to get close enough to see them without alerting them to
your presence, so Expert players might need to do a little searching after
they bag the first one. There are a couple more to the northwest; the same
applies to them.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
| ZIM3 | Hunt 1 Baboon near the Limpopo River using the crossbow! |
-------------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Crossbow Hunt
ANIMAL : Baboon
AMBIENT : Waterbuck
WEAPON : [Crossbow] XS
TIME : 2 hours

A crossbow mission, so feel free to just use a pistol at close range if you'd
rather not bother with it. There's a baboon on the north bank of the river,
and one on the south bank. Three or four crossbow bolts ought to do it.

-------------------------------------------------------
| ZIM4 | Hunt 5 Red Billed Teals near Victoria Falls! |
-------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Wing Hunt
ANIMAL : Red Billed Teal
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : [Shotgun] 12 GA
TIME : 2 hours

Most of the birds should emerge by the second bend in the path, so you should
be able to get all you need without going too far. If you're going for the
Perfect Wing achievement, you may find it easier to stand on the long bridge
over the river and look left and right for birds that come close enough.

--------------------------------------------------
| ZIM5 | Hunt 2 Top Trophy Sables from the herd! |
--------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Take the Leader
ANIMAL : Sable
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : .338
TIME : 3 hours

It is very difficult to get a clear shot at the top trophy animals until the
jeep lags behind them. After about half the time has passed, it'll move closer
to the herd, so you can get a better shot. As always, the larger ones are at
the front of the herd, and I'd suggest you go for them rather than trying to
pick the stragglers out of the crowd.

----------------------------------------------------
|ZIM6 | Hunt 5 Springboks along the Zambezi River! |
----------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Herd Hunt
ANIMAL : Springbok
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : .243
TIME : 2 hours

An easy one; just fire into the herd. You don't really have to aim that much,
or even use Hunter Sense.

----------------------------------
| ZIM7 | Hunt 2 baited Leopards! |
----------------------------------
MISSION : Baiting Hunt
ANIMAL : Leopard
AMBIENT : Baboon
WEAPON : .375
TIME : 3 hours

Go to the bait area. The first one shouldn't be hard - it will take the bait
and start eating it, allowing you to make a clean headshot. The second leopard
will be spooked by this and start running - if you can't get it from where
you're standing, you might haveto go down and entice it into chasing you, then
either use the rifle as normal or Adrenalin and the pistol.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
| ZIM8 | Hunt 2 Spur Winged Geese near Victoria Falls from the boat! |
----------------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Boat Wing Hunt Hunt
ANIMAL : Spur Winged Goose
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : [Shotgun] 12 GA
TIME : 2 hours

Two geese will appear in front of the falls. The rest probably won't show
themselves until you've rounded the bend and are headed away from the falls.

-----------------------------------------------------
| ZIM9 | Hunt 3 Waterbucks along the Limpopo River! |
-----------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Regular Hunt
ANIMAL : Waterbuck
AMBIENT : Impala
WEAPON : .338
TIME : 3 hours

Your first two targets are on the north bank of the river, but it's impossible
to get a clear shot through the reeds. You'll have to get closer and chase
them out into clean territory. This may mean a bit of searching for Expert
players. The last waterbuck is further north, down a small hill. You should
be able to pick it off from a safe distance.

---------------------------------------------------------
| TRP4 | Hunt 3 Trophy Cape Buffalos near the Midlands! |
---------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Trophy Hunt
ANIMAL : Cape Buffalo
AMBIENT : Leopard
WEAPON : .416
TIME : 4 hours

As always, choose your target with care; it's the larger and darker buffalos
you want. Go west past the first pair of watering holes. Only one of the
buffalos near the second watering hole is a top trophy target - if in doubt,
use Adrenalin when they charge at you. The other two are northwest of here,
standing close together.

---------------------
| MOZ0 | MOZAMBIQUE |
---------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------
| MOZ1 | Hunt 5 Yellow Billed Ducks along the Indian Ocean coast! |
-------------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Wing Hunt
ANIMAL : Yellow Billed Duck
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : [Shotgun] 12 GA
TIME : 2 hours

Birds will erupt from the bushes to the left and right immediately after
starting the mission. More will emerge as you enter the wide open area. For
Perfect Wing, be patient and line up your target exactly in the center of your
crosshairs. Use Hunter Sense if you want.

----------------------------------------------------
| MOZ2 | Hunt 2 Cheetahs across the Lower Plateau! |
----------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Regular Hunt
ANIMAL : Cheetah
AMBIENT : Reedbuck, Gorilla
WEAPON : .375
TIME : 4 hours

The first cheetah is slightly to the east of your starting position. You can
see it from a distance and try to get it in one, but will most likely cause
it to run away - chase it down. The next is southeast of the nearby watering
hole. This one will attack you if you approach - you can get a clear headshot
if you let this happen.

----------------------------------
| MOZ3 | Track and hunt 1 Nyala! |
----------------------------------
MISSION : Tracking Hunt
ANIMAL : Nyala
AMBIENT : Hyena
WEAPON : .270
TIME : 5 hours

Follow the bugs north. This mission features a rock face that you will need to
climb up - it's the only mission that does. The nyala appears to the north
once you reach the last bug location, Crouch and approach until you have a
clear shot.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
| MOZ4 | Hunt 2 Red Duikers across the Lower Plateau using the crossbow! |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Crossbow Hunt
ANIMAL : Red Duiker
AMBIENT : Lion
WEAPON : [Crossbow] XS
TIME : 4 hours

Your targets are easy enough to find - they're directly in front of you, and
you should be able to take one without alerting the other. However, there is
a lion close by, and it will attack you, so be ready to take it down with
Adrenalin. As always, the tiny little antelopes take an inordinate amount of
shots to bring down. If you're getting frustrated with the crossbow's reload
speed, feel free to use the pistol instead.

--------------------------------
| MOZ5 | Hunt 3 baited Hyenas! |
--------------------------------
MISSION : Baiting Hunt
ANIMAL : Hyena
AMBIENT : Buffalo
WEAPON : .300
TIME : 3 hours

Go north to the baiting spot. When the guide tells you to "Take cover now",
crouch down and keep approaching. You should be able to tag one of them while
they're eating. The others will scatter and attack you - take them out one at
a time with the pistol in Adrenaline mode or the rifle at close range.

------------------------------------------------------
| MOZ6 | Hunt 3 Bonteboks in the Montane Grasslands! |
------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Regular Hunt
ANIMAL : Bontebok
AMBIENT : Elephant
WEAPON : .300
TIME : 5 hours

The first bontebok is to the south. You can get a good shot from a distance,
as it's fairly visible. The second is just past the small hill southeast of
there. The third is northwest; it's laying down near a tree, a perfect target.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
| MOZ7 | Hunt 5 Egyptian Geese along the Indian Ocean coast from the boat! |
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Boat Wing Hunt
ANIMAL : Egyptian Goose
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : [Shotgun] 12 GA
TIME : 2 hours

Two birds appear at the start; the rest come a short while later. Not a
challenging mission.

--------------------------------------------------
| MOZ8 | Hunt 5 Zebras across the Zambezi River! |
--------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Herd Hunt
ANIMAL : Zebra
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : .338
TIME : 2 hours

Equip the .338 and fire into the herd five times. No size requirement.

-----------------------------------------------------
| MOZ9 | Hunt 2 Top Trophy Reedbucks from the herd! |
-----------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Take the Leader
ANIMAL : Reedbuck
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : .270
TIME : 3 hours

Wait until the herd is visible and aim for the darker ones at the front.
Try not to hit the lesser animals or you'll be penalized.

---------------------------------------------------------
| TRP5 | Hunt 2 Trophy Lions in the Montane Grasslands! |
---------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Trophy Hunt
ANIMAL : Lion
AMBIENT : Giraffe
WEAPON : .416
TIME : 4 hours

The lion and lioness on the plains to the northeast are not to be hunted.
The two you want are at the watering hole. Try to take them from a distance;
if not, they'll attack you and you can get them in Adrenaline mode.

-------------------
| TAN0 | TANZANIA |
-------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
| TAN1 | Hunt 1 Red Duiker through the Central Savannah using the crossbow! |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Crossbow Hunt
ANIMAL : Red Duiker
AMBIENT : Eland
WEAPON : [Crossbow] XS
TIME : 4 hours

Proceed down one of the paths leading southwest. The Red Duiker is on the
opposite side of the watering hole, in the bushes. You should be able to see
enough of it to get a shot at its body, and then follow it to finish it off.

----------------------------------------------------
| TAN2 | Hunt 2 Top Trophy Buffalos from the herd! |
----------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Take the Leader
ANIMAL : Buffalo
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : .416
TIME : 2 hours

Your last Take the Leader mission, and it's buffalo again. There's one large
specimen at the front of the pack, and a few more at the edges.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
| TAN3 | Hunt 5 Red Billed Teals on The Great Rift Valley from the boat! |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Boat Wing Hunt
ANIMAL : Red Billed Teal
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : [Shotgun] 12 GA
TIME : 2 hours

Birds will appear in front of you and behind you. Ignore the ones behind as
you can't target them until they fly ahead of you. Focus on the sky ahead and
pick off your targets. You can get the Super Long Shot achievement here if
you're lucky.

------------------------------------------------------
| TAN4 | Hunt 2 Rhinos through the Central Savannah! |
------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Regular Hunt
ANIMAL : Rhino
AMBIENT : Leopard
WEAPON : .505
TIME : 4 hours

Rhinos are very big, and they lie to the southwest. You should be able to get
a good shot on them from very far away, but watch out for leopards.

----------------------------------
| TAN5 | Track and hunt 1 Nyala! |
----------------------------------
MISSION : Tracking Hunt
ANIMAL : Nyala
AMBIENT : Lion
WEAPON : .270
TIME : 4 hours

Follow the bugs, but watch out - there are plenty of lions about. In fact, one
of the bug locations is between two lions! To avoid them, you'll need to
crouch down and move carefully. The nyala appears to the east of the last bug
spot.

-----------------------------------------------------
| TAN6 | Hunt 5 Elands along the Great Rift Valley! |
-----------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Herd Hunt
ANIMAL : Eland
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : .338
TIME : 2 hours

Your last simple herd mission. As always, the strategy is non-existant: fire
randomly into the herd and you're almost certain to bag one animal per shot.

-------------------------------------------------------
| TAN7 | Hunt 2 baited Lions on the Serengeti Plains! |
-------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Baiting Hunt
ANIMAL : Lion
AMBIENT : Buffalo
WEAPON : .416
TIME : 5 hours

Get to the bait station. You'll have to run a gauntlet of buffalo, so either
take them out or avoid them as usual. Once the guide says "Quiet, stay still
and let your game come to you", crouch down and approach slowly until you can
see the lions enough to get clear shots at them.

--------------------------------------------------------
| TAN8 | Hunt 5 Rock Pigeons near the Ngorongo Crater! |
--------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Wing Hunt
ANIMAL : Rock Pigeon
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : Shotgun, .410 O&U
TIME : 2 hours

Rock pigeons are the smallest type of bird you'll encounter, so people going
for Perfect Wing will need to take the utmost care and use Hunter Sense for
all of the shots. The birds won't appear until you're a little way down the
path, but will then fly around in the open sky.

----------------------------------------------------
| TAN9 | Hunt 3 Elephants on the Serengeti Plains! |
----------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Regular Hunt
ANIMAL : Elephant
AMBIENT : Nyala
WEAPON : .600
TIME : 5 hours

Elephants are large and aggressive. Snipe them from afar or get them angry
and shoot them at point blank range, it really doesn't matter. Your targets
are to the southeast.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
| TR67 | Hunt 1 Trophy Hippo and 1 Trophy Crocodile in the Southern Rift |
| | Shrubland! |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
MISSION : Trophy Hunt
ANIMAL : Hippopotamus, Crocodile
AMBIENT : None
WEAPON : .505 (Hippo), .300 (Crocodile)
TIME : 5 hours

Your last mission, and it's a double trophy! There are multiple hippos in the
area, but only one is your target. Get past the ones in front of you; ignore
one at the watering hole and instead hook around the map boundary - you'll
find the darker hippo in the area leading up to the dead end.
For the crocodile, head to the end of that dead end path. You'll be on a
ridge overlooking a lake where three animals will emerge from the bushes
and drink. A crocodile will pop out of the lake and pick one of these three
at random; take your shot and make it count, as you don't have long before
it goes back into the water. Don't worry - the bush seems to hold an infinite
number of stupid animals ready to sacrifice themselves to draw the croc out.

-------------------------------
| DAN7 | Dangerous Seven Mode |
-------------------------------

Dangerous Seven mode allows you to replay the trophy hunts from Safari Hunt
mode. You can only play them once you've hunted the corresponding animal
in Safari Hunt mode first. As there's no difference in the missions, here's
a table of links to each of the trophy hunts:

Rhino.....................................................................TRP1
Leopard...................................................................TRP2
Elephant..................................................................TRP3
Buffalo...................................................................TRP4
Lion......................................................................TRP5
Hippo.....................................................................TR67
Crocodile.................................................................TR67

-----------------------------------
| WGST | Wing Shooting Tournament |
-----------------------------------

Wing Shooting Tournament allows you to play six Wing Hunt missions
consecutively. You are scored on your kills as normal (points are given for
long shots, and having an intact target - point blank shots don't give you
many points). Your score is tallied between rounds, and gives you an overall
score at the end of the sixth round. You should always use a shotgun for these
missions - the 12 GA is recommended for all except the Rock Pidgeons, which
should be tackled with the .410 O&U.

One achievement is obtained in this mode - Wing Shooting Tournament, obtained
when you reach 40,000 points.

-----------------------
| ACHV | Achievements |
-----------------------

There are 30 achievements to be had in this game.

--------------------------------------
| Safari Hunter Learning (20G) |
| Complete all the tutorial lessons. |
--------------------------------------
On the main menu screen, press Y to access the tutorial, then complete all of
the lessons. Simple, and probably the first one you'll get.

--------------------------------------------------------
| First Blood (10G) |
| Hunt your first game animal in the Safari Hunt Mode. |
--------------------------------------------------------
As long as you remember how to play the game, this one should be your second
achievement unlocked. Play any mission, shoot one of your targets, and bingo.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Hunter Super Sense (15G) |
| Take two game kills in the same use of Hunter Sense ability, except in |
| Wing and Herd missions. |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The easiest mission to do this one on is SAF5, hunting Springboks in South
Africa, where a herd will be charging towards you from behind. Equip a shotgun
(12 GA Custom is good), turn around, enter Hunter Sense mode and shoot, aiming
for two killls before the Hunter Sense bar runs out.

----------------------------------------------------------
| Super Adrenaline (15G) |
| Complete a mission using only Adrenaline Mode to hunt. |
----------------------------------------------------------
Obviously, you can't use Adrenalin to hunt docile animals, so your first
chance to do this will be SAF9, hunting Warthogs in South Africa. Just
approach them, wait for them to attack, and then shoot them in Adrenalin
mode.

---------------------------------------------------------
| Fast and Perfect (20G) |
| Take a perfect shot in less than 1 minute of playing. |
---------------------------------------------------------
This is a game-time minute rather than an actual minute, so you have 2.5
seconds from the start of the mission to make your perfect shot. I got
this one by accident on a Wing Hunt mission, but you could probably do
it on a Herd mission too.

--------------------------------------
| Super Long Shot (20G) |
| Take a Trophy from over 150 yards. |
--------------------------------------
Bird shooting missions will most likely be the best place to get this one.
Aim at birds that are very far off, and hope you hit them. You could try
using a rifle instead of a shotgun for greater precision and zoom, but
I used a shotgun and got it.

---------------------------------------------
| All Game Modes Unlocked (20G) |
| Unlock all game modes from the Main Menu. |
---------------------------------------------
You'll get this once you've played at least one trophy mission and one bird
shooting mission, to unlock Dangerous Seven and Wing Shooting Tournament.

------------------------------------------
| .44 Custom Handgun Unlocked (30G) |
| .243 Custom Firearm Unlocked (30G) |
| .300 Custom Firearm Unlocked (30G) |
| .416 Custom Firearm Unlocked (30G) |
| .505 Custom Firearm Unlocked (30G) |
| .410 O&U Custom Shotgun Unlocked (30G) |
| 12 Ga Custom Shotgun Unlocked (30G) |
------------------------------------------
Each of these guns will unlock as you earn points in Safari Hunt mode. You'll
most likely get enough points for all of them long before finishing Safari
Hunt. Here's what you'll need for each gun.

Shoot all five targets without missing a single shot. Any shot fired that
doesn't hit a bird will automatically fail the achievement. You can only
receive this for completing regular Wing Hunt Hunts - hunts from the boat
will not count! To get these achievements, make full use of Hunter Sense
and line up your targets precisely in the center of your crosshairs before
firing.

| Dangerous Seven (40G) |
| Complete the Dangerous Seven Mode. |
--------------------------------------
Once all Dangerous Seven animals are unlocked (by hunting them in Safari
Hunt mode), play and complete all of the missions of Dangerous Seven mode.

| Leopard Expert Trophy (45G) |
| Black Rhino Expert Trophy (45G) |
| Cape Buffalo Expert Trophy (45G) |
| Lion Expert Trophy (45G) |
| Elephant Expert Trophy (45G) |
| Hippo Expert Trophy (45G) |
| Crocodile Expert Trophy (45G) |
------------------------------------
Hunt each animal in Safari Hunt mode while playing on the Expert difficulty.
For this reason, it's easier to play the game through for the first time on
Expert if you're just going for the achievements.

---------------------------------------------------
| Ambient Guardian (45G) |
| Finish the Safari Hunt without being penalized. |
---------------------------------------------------
Always verify that the animal you're aiming at is the correct one, especially
in Take the Leader and Trophy missions where you need to get a larger
specimin. Always shoot aggressive animals with Adrenalin, where you won't be
penalized. If you accidentally get penalized, the only thing to do is press
Start and choose Restart Map. If you finish a mission after being penalized,
you'll have to Restart Country instead.

| Wing Shooting Tournament (40G) |
| Earn 40,000 points or more in the Wing Shooting Tournament. |
---------------------------------------------------------------
As it says, get 40,000 points or more in Wing Shooting Tournament mode. As
soon as you meet this requirement, even if you're in the middle of a round,
it'll unlock. There are six rounds to the tournament, so you'll need to
average about 7,000 points per round to meet the target.
