Can I unlock other nations?

I was wondering if Rome was the only faction I could play in the Imperial Campaign.

Yes, you can end up being able to play as most of the different factions in the game. You unlock them by either defeating that faction on the campaign or by beating the short campaign, which automatically unlocks the other factions.

Once you complete the campaign (long or short) you can play as most of the other factions. You can change the game files to unlock the other ones too. There are guides here about it.

If you either beat the campaign, or destroy a faction, yes you may play as others =)
