Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Okay, I know how to fix the "out of sync" error for VtMB but only with the Activision release. It involved editing the registry entries for ScreenHeight and ScreenWidth, but it seems Steam uses different registry entries to launch the game.

I've tried every single forced video mode by altering the launch options for the Steam version, and I've even attempted to contact Steam/Valve regarding the error, but I have received no help. (Activision directed me to contact ActivisionValue TS instead...)

So, long question short, does anyone know how to fix the error in Steam?

For reference, I'm running Vista Home Premium (Activision ver runs fine, but Steam doesn't like VtMB to run...), and my rig exceeds the minimum requirements of the game.
