"A game made only for the patient..."

Myst is a very time consuming PC game that isn't for impatient people. In order to play it, you need to be adept at solving puzzles, and you have to concentrate. It's certainly not for the weak-minded. Now on to the review...

Graphics - 10/10
The graphics in this game are simply amazing, at least in my eyes. The world you wander around in is extremely detailed, and everything looks realistic. The environments are interactive for the most part, meaning you can read books off shelves, hit switches, open drawers, or do whatever else you need to solve the puzzles. Even though this game is a bit old, the graphics still impress me.

Sound - 9/10
The sounds in this game are as realistic as you'll find on almost any game. From the trickling of a small waterfall to the swift breeze of wind and the chirping of birds, you'll realize that the sounds are indeed wonderful. Of the limited amount of actual music in the game, what is there is sharp, clear, and pleasent to hear. You won't be dissapointed.

Storyline - 9/10
The storyline in this game, although hard to comprehend at times, is very complex and involving. As you progress further and further, you'll find yourself wondering what's going to happen next, and this is why I was impressed with it. I don't want to reveal anything, but I just want to tell you to not try and guess your way though this game, because next to none of it is predictable.

Replayability - 3/10
Although this game will take most people a long time to complete, after you finish it once, there probably is no reason to go back and play the game over again, except to explore the lands, which you can do after you complete it anyway. The graphics are still worth a second look though, so you might want to just walk through it again to see everything.

Overall - 8/10
Overall, Myst is a great game where you will encounter mysteries and solve complex puzzles. You'll come across many strange things, and the story is unpredictable. Just be warned, this game is NOT for the impatient, the easily-frustrated, or for people looking for an action-packed shoot-em-up like Doom. If you're into this type of game, it's worth a pick up, espcially with the recent drop of prices.
