God of Thunder

"A good Old school Viking game for a rainy day."

This is an action adventure 2-d game. It also holds a certain place in my heart for it was on of my first games that I truly understood and loved. It is called God of Thunder because you play the Role of Thor, The Viking God of Thunder.

Story: 9/10

The story is pretty straight forward; Odin takes a nap and you good for nothing brother decides to make alliances with some bad guys, and take of your fair and happy land. It was extraordinarily cool back in 1994, and it is still a fun story to play through today.

Graphics: Then 9/10 Now 5/10

The graphics back then were very cool and I loved them, but now they are not very good. The people looked like little triangles that crab walked of the screen. The main character, Thor, had a very cool beard and mustache. But this is a game where graphics are not everything. They did what they had to, and that was making the game playable.

Sound Effects/Music: 9/10

The sound effects are very corny, but that is okay because they do add some style to the game. There are some very cool ones like the hammer noise, and Thor's grunts. I am also partial to the dialogue noise. It was cool but some people did tend to find it annoying.

The music was the kind you found yourself humming when you were not paying attention. There are not that many songs but they are all a lot of fun, and seem like they fit in the game. They were perfect for this game.

Game play: 10/10

This was the strongest point of the game. The game play was fun addictive, and it never seemed to get old. The main attack was throwing a hammer at your foes but the cool thing was the fact that the hammer came back to you. It set up a lot of different was to attack the games enemies, and solve puzzles. You also had a close quarters lighting attack. It was cool going into a crowd of monkeys and zapping them all. This was the games strongest point.

Replay Value: 6/10

Since the game was short and once you learned how to solve the screen the game became very easy, even on the hardest level of difficultly. But the three levels of difficultly did add some replay valve. This game was meant to be a one time beat. But if you wait a few years it is still fun to pick up and play.

CONCLUSION

This is a very fun game that is good for a rainy afternoon, and should not be overlooked because it is a free download.
