"Prey, We WERE Next..."

Prey, the delightfully twisted, slightly disturbing PC game staring a Native American. This game has some pretty neat elements too it, but some flaws.

Graphics 9/10
The graphics are good, especially if you have a computer good enough to run it. It is based on an upgraded Doom 3 engine. Just don't expect HL2 graphics.

Gameplay 7/10
This is the best part about the game, and also the worst. At the begining, when you first use the portals, there are some really neat puzzles and ways to play. In certain areas, you look into a portal, and see yourself at another one(just don't shoot yourself, it hurts). There's also spirit walking, which is pretty cool. The only thing is, after a little bit, there are no more thought provoking puzzles...they die out. And usually the only time you'll spirit walk is to press a button that's on the other side of a force field. Another neat idea is that you don't die, you go to a spirit world. Here, you shoot demons with your arrows, to come back with more health or spirit. That is the biggest self blunder, because if you don't die, you don't stop playing. So you will probably breaze through this game in one day, or two if you're not a hardcore gamer. So all of the neat ideas here are good, then bad.

Sound 9/10
The sound is awsome, and the ingame music is great too. It gives the game a nice atmosphere.

Weapons 8/10
I made a special category for this game, the weapons. Most of them are alive. They move, and attatch to you, and other neat stuff. One of them is actually the arm of an alien you cut off! The only bad thing is, they aren't that powerful. One of the best guns you get is the one you get first.

Replay 4/10
This game is short, and only has two difficuties. Normal and Cherokee(which can only be unlocked after beating the first dificulty). The story is nice, and it's cool to show your friends, mainly because of the "gross factors." (Gross factors include walls and floors having "certain" oriphases that resemble human body parts...)

MultiPrey 5/10
The only thing good about the MultiPrey is the ability to go on the walls and ceilings, and the use of portals. Everything else is basic, deathmatch or team deathmatch.

Overall 8/10
I'm being generous on the overall, because the story is great, and the ideas are new. So far, it's one of the best FPS games out this year. If it wasn't so short, and the puzzles were more involved, it would be great. So, if you have a 360, rent it. If you only have a computer, Get together with a friend, split the cost, let one beat it, and then switch...since you can't rent PC games.
