Heroes of Might and Magic V

"Different graphics, different layout, same addicting gameplay."

ahh...the good old days when things didn't matter. I was about 8 or younger and there was this game called heroes of might and magic. It was an addicting game, of course everything is addicting when you are 8, right? My friends would come over and we would have a Giant game, but of course none were ever finished. There were sequels and they were great. (Heroes MM 3 was my favorite) but then nothing happened. There was no more sequels and the games were lost in the abyss of a black hole some people like to call my game collection. Then there was part 4, I remembered my fun experience with the game, so I was going to check it out. Problem was...I read reviews, talked to people, and I never got it because of the bad reviews and stuff it got.

Then, here comes 5. Now this one, looked different and was even by made by different people. No longer is it by 3DO but by Ubisoft. I must say I wasn't very happy about the changes, I didn't like the new look. I was so used to the old look it kinda messed me up, but still remembering my great childhood fun (which wasn't that long ago, I guess I could still be called a kid, or at least a teen) I still gave the game a chance. So after a while I started to like it, and the more I played it the more I enjoyed it, until...I was addicted! It reminded why I liked the old ones so much. Sure it might have a unoriginal story and the format does seem a little like Warcraft 3. But the game play hasn't changed. There are still new enemies and magic spells and so on, but the gameplay I love is still there.

So here is the the wrap up.

Graphics 9/10-Very good, although I can't play it to it full extent on my laptop, (it is actually on the lowest settings, but...it isn't too bad) but on my dad's desktop. PURE MIGHT AND MAGIC GOODNESS! It looks VERY good on a high end computer. For those of you that don't, well, time to either upgrade, or if graphics don't matter to you as much as some people then the computer you have should be fine.

Sound 9.5/10-I like video game music to say the least. So remembering the very...I don't know, just remembering the music that was in the older games, that I enjoyed. This is pretty much no different than that of the old ones. The way it sounds that is. It isn't the same music but it still has that feel to it.

Story 6/10- Well we all knew this wasn't going to win any awards but it still is something better than just evil guy, kill him now. Although some people would say that is what it boils down to. I am not one of those people, but I will say it lacks originality.

Gameplay 10/10-YES, THE GOOD STUFF I WAS SO HAPPY ABOUT WHEN I WAS YOUNGER! The gameplay is good, and they have even added some stuff to it, like a damage thing to see how many guys you will kill and if they will attack you back.

Overall 9.5/10-This game is GREAT! The reason I didn't give it a perfect 10 is because there are some minor problems. For example the camera in the underground levels but besides that it is a great game, that anyone with at least a little interest in a strategy games should check out and buy.
