"A great combination like peanut butter and chocolate!"

Introduction:

Lego Star Wars is a game about the first three episodes in the Star Wars Saga. It is a fun game for most people, whether or not they like Lego and Star Wars. Don't worry about the Lego factor, the Lego does not take away from the game, it adds comic relief.

Story 9/10

Episodes 1-3 of Star Wars are featured in this game. It is an easy story to follow if you haven't seen the movies. One of the features of Star Wars, words going up the screen at the beginning of a movie to express the story takes place before every chapter. All of the cut-scenes are short and speechless. They give the main idea of the story, and add humour.

Game-play 10/10

Lego Star Wars has a lot of smashing up battle droids in it. The attacks are mostly hitting the attack button rapidity. There are a lot of very simple puzzles where you need to use a characters special ability. For instance, Jedi use the force on objects and astromech and protocol droids can activate switches. The environments are very interactive. Pretty much every where you go, there is something to smash up with your lightsaber or build with the force. One of the main appeals I see in the game is free-play mode. You can take any character anywhere. So, Yoda could fight Darth Vader, or General Grievous could be a hero on Naboo. There's a lot of fun extra stuff to do like buying characters, finding canisters and obtaining a true Jedi status.

Controls 10/10

Well, what can I say? If you don't like the controls you can change them to whatever you want.

Graphics 9/10

Most of the characters and foreground look cartoon-ey because of the Lego. However, the backgrounds are done nicely and a little more realistically to add contrast. The lightsabers look awesome and are probably the best effects of the game.

Sound/Music 10/10

The sound is done well. It sounds believable adding to the impact of the game. The music is the classic John Williams score, and sounds just like from the movies.

Playtime/Re-playability

Completing the story mode does not take long, but if you go for all of the extra stuff this game can last for months. Personally, I find great replay value in this game. I've owned it for over a year and I play it almost every day!

Final Recommendation:

Buy this game. You'll get a lot of fun and laughs out of it (I know I did).
