Serious Sam II
Review by IrishBoom
"Ouch!"
Serious Sam II is a game which lags far, far behind in the current standards of gaming for its time. A story-line is non-existent, and realistic AI can be forgotten. I am doubting that the game was made in 3D, but who knows.
Well, Serious Sam II did bring one thing back from the dead; complete mindless killing with badly animated gore and a feeling of evil. In this First Person Shooter you roam around with no real purpose and kill anything that you see move. The graphics lags so far behind standards of ANY pc game created from Windows 98 on up.
Physics do not exist in this game, and are, honestly, worse than what you would see in an amateur Flash, which is all 2D and simple. Once you finish it you begin to wonder what you did it for; at least I was thinking that.
2K Games are, normally, great. They were involved with Oblivion and Prey, both great and gripping games. Even though this game is old, it does not fit the reputation of the brand name.
The poly-count seems amazingly low and I was very surprised. everything seemed to be rough circles, almost square.
I can only point out one good thing about this game, which is the crazy shoot-and-kill. It's not something you need for your PC, it's not something you should spend your money on. Leave it in your pocket and save up for something better, honestly.
The game had a lot of weapons, and that is something I enjoy with FPS games, so that is points. However, it is still unreal. All of it.
The game is not worth it, and I would, any day of the week, spend three hours in Prey than half an hour in this. You have no rewards and no aim, just a gun and some bad guys.
A round up:
Gameplay: 3
Graphics: 3
Sounds: 2
Style: 4
Story: 1
Overall: 3
Mean I know, but I really did not enjoy this game. You can try it out, but I wouldn't recomend it.
