"Good but not great."

"So umm what do I do now?"

So I just completed Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy, and you're probably wondering (no you aren't) what did themagicgoalie20 think of the game. Well, here is exactly what I think...

STORY: 10/10
Its pretty much the story of the films themselves. Some of the story is altered a little bit, sometimes for the sake of humor and sometimes for fun. (Jedi Destiny anyone?) But overall, its a faithful retelling. The humor in the cut scenes is cute and usually pretty funny.

GAMEPLAY: 7/10
The first Lego Star Wars had a ton of glitches and gameplay issues, and this one follows in its path. Many gamers had troubles installing the game, then had troubles with random crashes and freezing up. There's also a weird glitch where the camera rotates and fixates on nothing, and you are forced to exit the game. It gets frustrating when you've spent 20-25 minutes on a level only to have it crash. It seems like this game was rushed, frm a technical standpoint.

CONTROLS: 7/10
The keyboard controls are pretty clunky, but a game like this begs to be played on a controller anyway. Pick up a cheapo one and it'll double the fun you have with this game. The controls are good, except for certain characters. When using a bounty hunter, one button controls either building or launching a detonator. So sometimes when you go to build something, you explode. :(

VISUALS: 7/10
The graphics are pretty standard. They look crisp and sharp, and the reflections are really a nice touch. However, they're using legos, which automatically dumbs down the graphics. Which really raises the question, why hasn't LucasArts just made a realistic and high graphic game like this, following the movie plots?

SOUND: 5/10
The sound is average at best. It really sounds like they just copied the sound files from the first game. The sounds are fine but nothing is inspiring or worth nothing. In a game where graphics are average, an average sound track really wears on the game experience.

MUSIC: 6/10
The music is exactly the same, much like the sounds and effects. The music is clear and fitting in ever scene. LucasArts did their job but there's really nothing impressive or note worthy.(again)

OVERALL: 7/10
One last thing to note is its horrible end game goals and objectives. Once you get a few stud multipliers, everything else becomes obsolete. The game really doesn't need to be completed to 100%, only until you get all the characters. Its worth buying, mainly because you can't rent PC games, and its one of those games to randomly play when you're in the mood.
