Scarface: The World Is Yours
Review by AAChaoshand
"Interesting and flawed"
Scarface is a crime simulator something like that of Grand Theft Auto and True Crime but yet you can not compare it to them. Scarface is made after the movie and in this game Tony Montana the main character survives the assault at his mansion. After the mansion was sacked and Tony escapes the story continues on how Tony Montana rises to be a big drug lord again and eventually rid Sosa his arch enemy. This game is excellent and flawed in many ways all of which I will describe below!
Graphics: 10/10
Excellent graphics but even some 2005 computers that were top of the line could not run this game maxed out. I have a dual core laptop with a Nvidia 7400 and I can run it with everything but anti-aliasing on. This game is also extremely bloody, I mean, you can shoot heads off, arms, and legs and the amount of blood that flys out is insane but also makes the game better. All the water and explosions look excellent my only gripe is that some of the vehicles look a little messed up but thats only a few of them! The requirements are high to play this game but if you can meet the requirements then I highly recommend this game.
Sound: 8/10
Yes there is alot of profanity in this game. It actually gets kind of old thats why I gave it a 8 an not a 10. I know that Tony is supposed to be that way but everyone in the city doesn't need to swear. There is music from so many bands in this game its great. Anything from latin, rock, reggae, 80's rock, hip-hop and more is available and doesn't just play when you are in the car but also out of the car doing whatever it is that you want to do. The only time the music stops is when you stop it or you go into a cut-scene.
Controls:8/10
I thought they were a bit awkward at first, some buttons were out of the way like Enter and Home on the keyboard when your hand is on the mouse and the other hand is on w,a,s, and d. I also thought it weird that Caps Lock was key to lock onto the enemy, left ctrl would have done fine but oh well.
Gameplay: 7/10
This is where the game takes a hit. The gameplay is good don't get me wrong on that but it is repetitive. I spent more time doing drug deals than doing the actual missions. I always found myself low on cash and having to shoot dealers for their own stash to sell for my own. I love the free roam ability and how quite a few of the buildings you can go into but it would have been nice to be able to have less drug dealing time. There is also something called a "Balls" meter that you build up by taunting your dead enemy, doing stunts, driving the wrong way, shooting well, and more. This meter allows you to go into a rage that makes you invincible and you actually gain health. Every shot you fire is auto targeted and kills in one hit, it is extremely useful for boss characters and hordes of enemies that you just can't handle on your own. This game also allows you to have exotics which are almost anything in the way of cars, mansion upgrades, boats, henchmen, collectibles, investments, etc. Some of them serve a purpose while others are just for decoration.
Replay: 5/10
I would give it a 5 because I might pick it up and play it again down the road but I doubt it. The game has enough things to unlock that will keep you playing for some time.
Multiplayer: N/A
This game isn't multiplayer which is sad, I would enjoy having a buddy to play with or even a server to go up against people or compete in the business.
Overall: 7/10
Overall Scarface is not a bad game and has a few mission flaws that sometimes you have to restart to get done. Every game has its flaws but still, restarting a mission because of a screw up by the developers is kind of stupid but oh well. I give it a 7.
