A TRUE MASTERPIECE is I ever saw one!!!
Grand Theft Auto III(GTA3) is one of the best games I have ever played and THE best in its genre. Here's a review for a game that deserves a Cyber version of the Nobel Prize:

Gameplay: 9.8/10
Grand Theft Auto III probably has the most diverse gameplay ever. There are three huge islands to play on and all three of them are chock full of missions. That makes the game highly addictive. You also have the freedom to do just about ANYTHING you want. You can carjack any passing car or go on a killing spree. without any reason at all. You could quickly finish all main missions or just do the pile of extra stuff that's available like the ambulance, firetruck, taxi or police missions. Whichever way you look, the gameplay is great and deserves not even 0.000000001 less than 9.8. Some missions can be really frustrating though, hence the -0.2

Graphics: 8.7/10
The graphics in the game are truly superb. The buildings and cars are well-detailed. The cars and the weapons look highly realistic. And the dynamic lighting is truly dynamic. The only cons are the lack of pedestrian detail, but since you're not going to be staring at them before running them over, it doesn't make that much of a difference.

Plot/Story: 10/10
To be honest, I really thought that the plot was going to be the usual:be a criminal and do the missions, but I was in for a real surprise. The plot is so great it'll practically pull you into Liberty City with no known escape route. I found the characters awesome. Trust me, it's worth beating the game just to get to know the story.

Sound: 10/10
Pure Genius. Sound effects are abundant in this game, and that's a good thing. Voice acting is highly realistic, characters portray inner feelings like anger and happiness with such grace. There are ten radio stations and you can also your own music by copying the files into the game's directory, something which I found to be total waste,since the gme already has such fine music.

Fun Factor: 9.9/10
This game is FUN. Its very fun. There's so much to do and so much to see that you won't get tired for awhile. As I mentioned, missions are addictive, but incredibly fun. Again, as I've already mentioned, you can do anything in this game. Kill people, destroy cars, or just mess with the police(my favourite)! Any way you choose, you'll have fun. I've given it a 9.9 because of the difficulty of some of the missions, especially the paramedic ones but the rest of the game is just GREAT.

Rent or Buy:
Buy my friend, Buy. It's IMPOSSIBLE to beat this game in a rental(unless you go without any sleep , then you MIGHT stand a decent chance). Its just to good a game to pass up. Don't miss out on the experience that is Grand Theft Auto III. And if you didn't buy the game because you thought it wasn't worth the time or the money then you were WRONG. The game's too good for words! Trust me. You won't be wasting your time on it, so do yourself a favor and check it out!
