The Lost Vikings
Review by TotalAwakening
"A great idea that doesn't work so well"
The Lost Vikings. I was skeptical when my mother pulled this game out of the bag but I guess it was worth it. Basically it stars three vikings.
Gameplay: 8/10
So there's three vikings. All but one's name has slipped my mind.
One who runs fast and can jump. Then there's one that's rather fat(Olaf the Stout, I believe) and has a shield which can also be used as a platform or to glide. Then there's one with a sword and bow who normally stays behind the shield and fires arrows at monsters. You have all three to control, and you have to switch to different characters to use them while the other ones remain inactive. This does not work very well against monsters who do more than just slowly walk towards you and occasionally shoot a bullet, as while you valiantly rush in there with your sword and bow your other vikings are sitting ducks to anything that you don't protect them from, and it's not like the attacking character can block for them so it basically makes real-time combat very hard. Though the puzzles are decent. The big problem though is if one character dies you can continue to play. In vain, though. If only two of the three or less make it to the end of the stage you lose anyways, so there's no point in continuing if one of your vikings suffers a fatal blow. And keep in mind there's only so many hits a viking can take, and there are some things that immediately kill you so that makes playing a real pain in the ass.
Music: 5/10
Average. Nothing interesting here. Same for sound.
Plot: 6/10
Three vikings get taken away from their happy little village by aliens. Then they go through several worlds trying to get back home. Nothing that's worth paying attention to.
Replay Value: 7/10
No real force telling you "GO PLAY AGAIN" but as with most platformers it might still entertain you after you play the same level a second time.
Overall: 7/10
Not a must have, but if you have money to spare or there's something you REALLY like about this game it'd be worth buying.
