Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project
Review by Raddish_Forever
"A very different game, but still bleeds Duke..."
The Duke Nukem series is known for its insane Hollywood style shooters. The game's are full of Guns, strippers and the common alien scum, however, 3D realms has decided that Duke needs to take a trip down memory lane. Now, many people don't know this, but before Duke Nukem 3-D, there were two other game's. These two titles were actually side scrollers (sort of like Metal Slug). With that said, you now know what to expect in this latest version Duke Nukem.
Story: Those alien Scumbags are back for more! This time you're going to be taking them down on the east coast in lady liberties town. The story is bland, but hey, it's Duke, and that's all we need to know. You must once again battle the alien intruders (Man, earth has a bad reputation for alien infestation.) (5)
Gameplay: This game is a lot fun for some reason
I'll tell you why. The action is so simple yet so different that it really becomes an addiction. The weapons all are from previous games in the trilogy, as are the enemies. They all die just as good, and the action is very traditional. You go up and down and left and right. The boss battles are also another high point in the Manhattan Project. They consist of a series of stages and it's just so much fun. Im shocked people
didn't enjoy this one. (8)
Audio: I used headphones and it's a great sounding game. Besides, that theme sound alone is enough to keep you hearing what's going on. The classic one liners are also back and they are funny as ever, even though they sensor the F-bomb. All the weapons sound cool and the voices are very sharp. (8)
Visuals: These look better than most other Duke Games, and the art of the characters are all very flashy and cute. There's no issue here, and Manhattan project can pretty much run on any PC, so your getting the full experience as long as you have a PC that's no more than 6 years old.
This was a very short review, but the game is so basic and bare that it's hard to say much. Anyway, the game is worth a look, and trust me; it's a lot of fun, even if you are into the other ones.
Overall: (8)
