"Wow. This sucks."
Not since the Hindenburg disaster has anybody screamed the words "Oh the Humanity!" with such passion. Not much can be said for any of the components of this game as the gameplay, the graphics, the sound, the commentary and the game in general all allure those same immortal words. I own Rugby 2002 on PS2 and I can honestly say that it is far better than this waste of hard drive space. My computer screams in pain every time I put the game in and I thoroughly understand why. Tackling is terribly hard especially when the user controlled fullback is the last line of defence. Any rugby fan will cry with disappointment at the rucks in which the players seem to be fighting over a space in the stadium car park! And worst of all, there is just absolutely no challenge. You win every time!! Purists will hate the lack of mauls which are one of rugby's great territory gainers. Changing player is a cow too because it only changes to the player closest to the supposed "ruck" who will then, on some demented instinct run in and join the parking space debacle. Another thing I found painfully intriguing was the running with the ball. I found you can only run forward, on right angles forward and to the right. Not forward and to the left. What a mess.
It's only redeeming features are the scrum and ruck options, the teams and.....hmmm, nope that's it. Please, for your sake rent this game out first and if, by the grace of god you like it, then buy it, but do not take a risk like I did on a PC version of what is probably a good game. EA have really blown this one and boy does it show. Wow. Some games do very well on PC, for example, The Sims, Frankie Dettori Racing/Melbourne and the entire Age of Empires series. But others just don't cut it. I was ashamed of EA for allowing such utter dung out into the world of PC. It didn't deserve any better.
In conclusion, if ever a game were to be compared with the holocaust, this would be it.
4/10 for about 30 minutes of my life that I will never get back.
