Review by Missing_My_Head
"Heh, that's funny. The game designers made a typo in the title. They wrote "fun" instead of "garbage.""
Ever played a game and noticed that it was a total ripoff of another game? Well, it's obvious that it makes it ten times worse if the ripoff is total crap.
That's Funpack 3D in a nutshell.
GAMEPLAY - 1/10
Funpack contains four, um...well, they're advertised as games. First up is Chomper!. Chomper! essentially takes Pac-Man, makes him 3D, and...Well, that's it. Unless you count the fact that they stripped the game down to four levels that infinitely repeat. Seriously, it does not get more pathetic than this. You could give this to a blind man and he'd say it's a Pac-Man ripoff.
Then there's Missile Defense, a carbon copy of Missile Command, expect you only have one gun, and (gasp!) it's 3D. Great.
The next game, Super Brick-Breaker!, is probably the most entertaining game out of the four. Despite being an obvious ripoff of Super Breakout, it can provide a few minutes of fun. Unfortunately, the perspective sometimes makes it very difficult to see where the ball is going.
The fourth and final game is Meteor Gunner, and is easily the worst of the four. It's a blatant ripoff of Asteroids, only it's 3D (liek no wai). You see, it's 3D, but your radar is 2D, so you still have no idea where the asteroid are, because you have no sense of depth.
GRAPHICS - 3/10
If there are any game designers reading this, let this be a lesson to you: Taking a block of pixels and making it 3D does NOT make it automatically next-gen. The graphics in this game range from mediocre to depressing. Chomper! is pretty bad, Missile Command looks okay, Super Brick-Breaker isn't that good, but it's acceptable for what it is, and Meteor Gunner is pretty horrible. Some elements are just downright pitiful, though.
MUSIC - 9/10
I've gotta say, Funpack 3D succeeds here. The music is upbeat and fitting for the games you're playing. Chomper! probably has the worst, while Missile Defense easily has the best. It's a nice surpise in a horrid mess like this.
SOUND - 5/10
Bleah.
The sound isn't great, but you're not going to rip out your speakers and feed them to your dog, either. It's pretty unremarkable, really.
REPLAY VALUE - 0/10
Play this game more than ten times. I dare you. I suppose if you stuck to Super Brick-Breaker you might keep yourself mildly entertained, but if you try to actually play through Meteor Gunner or Chomper!, your screen will end up with your keyboard sticking through it.
OVERALL - 3/10 (Not an average)
Gameplay - 1/10 - Taking Pac-Man, making him 3D, and giving him a new name a good game does not make.
Graphics - 3/10 - Usually, they're mediocre, but there are some that are just unbearable.
Music - 9/10 - Surprisingly good for a pile of crap like this.
Sound - 5/10 - Not bad, not good. Just okay.
Replay Value - 0/10 - You will NOT want to play this game more than three times. Trust me.
Buy, Rent, or Forget It? - For the love of humanity, FORGET IT! Just go and buy the actual game instead of a cheap imitation like this. Chances are you won't be able to find it, anyway. I found my copy at a garage sale.
